Walking round Newark came across this lovely quaint little cafe yesterday. Staff really friendly. Unfortunately had already eaten earlier so only had enough room to try lovely homemade vegan soup. I am not vegan but my daughter is so will definitely will be coming back as vegan options looked lovely, savoury and cakes plus other non vegan food, all looked lovely. More cafes and restaurants need to offer tasty vegan options and dont have to be vegan to enjoy !

After visiting Gannets in Newark a few times for lunch, we booked them to cater for our wedding lunch and they did the most amazing job. We had quiches, salads, pork pies and sausage rolls, scones and plenty of cake! and with Gluten and dairy free, Egg free and Nut free options for those of our guests with food allergies too! From the moment we got in touch, Neil was fantastic. He was so friendly and polite and came up with the perfect menu for the day. When we arrived from the registry office, we were blown away with the set up. The food looked as good as it tasted and everyone commented on how delicious it was. We will definitely be stopping in for lunch any time we are in Newark and would recommend Gannets to anyone. Thank you so much for being a part of our big day! :) Emma & Amit

Not been to Gannets in Newark for 25+ years as I moved away. Used to be my favourite lunch spot. Delighted to find the food is every bit as delicious as it was then.

We had such a lovely lunch in the garden at Gannets today. The hazelnut lasagne is my favourite! The lady behind the counter was so kind to our children too. Thank you. We'll be back very soon.

Great food & service but most of all very child/baby friendly which makes all the difference when deciding where to dine. Keep up the great work 😊

This friendly cafe and coffee shop in Newark-on-Trent is a great place for a cooked breakfast treat on a weekend. Have visited a couple of times with family and we all loved our breakfasts. Nice ambience too.

Edit 3: beef casserole is amazing! Lovely and beautifully cooked british beef! Jus, mushrooms, carrots and onions add to it being even more delicious. Recommend a piece of shortbread also. Friendly waitresses and good service once again. Edit: Came again today - beef lasagna was brilliant and extremely tasty as was the carrot cake! definitely recommend these 2 as well! We both had the lamb and beef ragu bolognese from the specials board - delicious sauce and British meat, spaghetti cooked from fresh as well. Sticky toffee pudding, although tasty, was most likely microwaved. The waitresses were friendly; young waitress, Sue, was very good as the kitchen had forgotten our order so she quickly sorted it. A bit too expensive for me though, £4.50 I was charged for some lettuce. Overall, great atmosphere and food but service was slow and lacking slightly. Shame a lot of the desserts are vegan/ gluten free.

I came to Gannets for lunch with a friend today. We both had jacket potatoes which were lovely. The wait times to order and receive a drink were long but the wait for food wasn’t very long. The jacket potatoes came with a very interesting salad with different components to it such as rice, lettuce, and two different types of carrot. Overall, we enjoyed eating here. The cafe was very clean and staff were lovely. We both went back for a slice of cake out of their very yummy looking selection.

Popped in for a quick bite to eat whilst making a quick stop in Newark. Excellent food, lovely atmosphere. Food came out prompt and was very well presented and tasted amazing. I had the chicken and pumpkin curry and my partner had the loaded potato skins with an amazing side salad. Home made coleslaw was excellent, the curry was excellent. Hats off to the Chef.

Great coffee, food and value. Came in for lunch and was not disappointed. The food was great and the menu had a great selection of hot and cold options, all good value. The drinks choices were abundant, and the coffee was great (as someone who enjoys a 'good' coffee I would return). It was busy but there seemed spaces even still as its spread across multiple floors. There is a small outside area to the back. There is parking available nearby at Asda for 2hrs. Easy walk into the town centre. The toilets were clean and tidy.

Great coffee! Good cakes. All reasonably priced. Staff were really lovely and allowed us to bring our retired guide dog into the garden room. Very welcome on a cold December day instead of sitting on the outdoor tables at the front. Very clean throughout.
