We were concerned when the tagline for the restaurant was "Japanese and Korean Cuisine"... As thoughts of bastardized dishes and hybrid mixmash come to mind. But no, this has to be one of the most authentic Korean food in town!

I come from a place with an abundance of good and cheap Korean food (Melbourne), so was pleasantly surprised to find this little gem.
How do I know its authentic? Well right next to us are two Korean business men pouring each other shots of Chamisul; there is the standard free side dishes of your local favourites (kimchi, sweet potato, sliced pickled radish), and most importantly a menu that's incredibly familiar.

We ordered the steam pork slices (a standard snack when having drinks), followed by the kimchi jigae and seafood pancake. All was exceptionality cooked and tasted like it should. The only disappointment was the lack of value with the pork dishes. For £15 I was expecting an abundant plate, quite typical at most places. But instead was presented with a single spaced out ring of pork around a heap of shredded spring onions and lettuce. I suspect they don't serve this dish much. Otherwise flavour was on point.

Regardless, we left feeling incredibly satisfied and sufficiently full. But after the excitement of stumbling upon such an awesome place wore down all that was left was an element of bill shock. Notwithstanding, we will be back.

Yami is one of my go-to Korean restaurants in New Malden , especially when I want something a little more formal with friends. It's slightly more pricey than others in the area, unless you're there for the weekday lunch menu, but this is fine as the quality is good. Side dishes are generous though sadly not refilled and their grilled dumplings are a bit measly compared to others I've had. But the Dolsot bibimbap is very good, with unctuous marinated beef, and the seafood soup is good as well. It's consistently good, so I'd recommend it.

Tasty Korean food. The spicy barbecue pork is super yummy. Seafood soup not so yummy. Don't wear your best clothes and don't bring your favourite hand bag. The place can get smokey from all the grilling.

We have Korean food on the brain and especially the Korean food in New Malden. I’m keen for us to try all the restaurants in the area but for our last two visits, we’ve stuck with one about which we’ve heard good things – Yami, located on the high street.

We first visited for lunch one Sunday and I was surprised to discover that their lunch menu was available all through the week. There’s no barbecue meats on it but there’s a very good range of dishes. We selected a few and to my delight, three banchan were brought to our table; there was kimchi, spicy pickled cucumber and stewed potatoes. It’s nice to get these traditional Korean little dishes; I take an immediate dislike to restaurants charging for a

For those who aren’t well versed in Korean cuisine, be prepared for some of the best barbecues and spicy everything you’re going to try from any other Asian nation. Yami was introduced to me by my Korean friends as their favourite place to go for great value for money, the relaxed and friendly atmosphere, and quite importantly the authentic taste of home. Booyah! Yep, totally agree!

New Malden is a famous Korean street in London, UK. Many Koreans open Korean restaurants and Korean supermarkets here. As I am the one with an ‘’Asian palate‘’, I really enjoy this place. The fried chicken at this restaurant is delicious, just like what we would have in Korea. For Korean barbecue, there are waiter who grill the meat for us, making our dining experience relaxed and ensuring that we don't have to worry about grilling it improperly. The Korean dishes we had here were very authentic, and we were satisfied with the food quality. The ingredients were fresh, and the flavors were excellent. However, the service was average. The waiter seemed to be part-time students and were somewhat indifferent.

If you are visiting New Malden for a great Korean restaurant. This place is a good choice since their food is authentic and tastes like you are in South Korea. Deep fried chicken and beef soup are my suggestion. Don’t forget to order shoju (a Korean alcohol) but please drink responsibly. Don’t drink if you drive.

One of the best Korean restaurant in New Malden. Chives pancake is crispy and full of chives in every piece of pancake. Deep fried spicy and sweet boneless chicken is mouth-watering😋 my friend can’t eat too spicy so we order a braised beef soup, it’s great to have balance the flavor of the spicy chicken. Hopefully they can maintain the food quality until my next visit😆

Food quality is excellent amongst Korean Restaurant in New Malden. The deep fried sweet and spicy chicken is crispy and succulent. The pancake is crunchy. Service is so so, and the seating is a bit too packed.

Yami in New Malden what a find, visited on a Sunday and it was pretty busy, which is a good sign, the staff were very friendly and were able to accommodate us very quickly. We opted to have Korean BBQ, food was delicious, banchan was all fresh, and the fried chicken succulent and crispy. Added to my list of top Korean restaurants, would thoroughly recommend.

Good Korean food in New Malden. The pork belly and beef ribs are always a winner and you can’t go wrong getting this! Lovely extra side dishes for free as well. The seafood pancake was thicker compared to some I have had but i enjoyed it a lot anyways… the kimchi jiggae was the best… pipping hot and sour kimchi which I love!! Fried Chicken with the huge pile of spring onions was something new I tried, but in my opinion I didn’t think it was wow or the sauce that was on top. Overall a filling meal ☺️. Unfortunately, we were sat next in front of the fridge where the drinks were and every few mins, the waiters would come get a drink for customers and it was slam against the fridge door which startled my uncle / or he would prepare for it knowing the slam was coming so that wasn’t pleasant during the meal. Also, make sure to book a table in advance as it can get busy :)

Great restaurant in New Malden area. Always come here for some nice fried chicken 😁 hot juicy and very tender. Worth coming here if you are looking for some nice Korean food. Best one in London area. Do come here for some Korean food. 6/4/23: I have reduced the star due to the fact it depends on the restaurant, when they get too busy, some dishes were cooked in a rush and caused some burnt. So be careful when you do order this🥲

Had a delicious dinner last night at Yami in New Malden. It was pretty busy but they found us a table quickly. We had 5 starters to share and they were really tasty and the portion sizes were very very generous. We would love to come back for the BBQ 😊

Roll me home! Delicious food and huge portion sizes. Of course you absolutely must have Korean Fried chicken. We had this plain no sauce and it was amazing. The seafood pancake, beef rib soup were delicious but my favourite was the glass noodles which were spot on and not oily at all which many other places tend to overdo the oil, this one was yum. So much food and such a good price. I would come back even though I live nowhere nearby!!!

Food here is excellent, wide variety of Korean food. Service here can be a little confusing for passerby or the uninitiated. Portion here are very generous and well worth the money. Be prepared to smell of meat after due to BBQ. Extra points for free sides.

Standard Korean dinner but it’s comfort food for us for sure. Its always busy but thats a good sign. Yes I have seen reviews of terrible service and rude staff but its a fast paced environment due to small number of tables available for seating. Though would say you do need to make eye contact at the start as we waited probs 15mins until we had our order taken (and being a neek I had to quickly list our order before I forgot haha) can’t go wrong with bibimbap!! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Authentic Korean cuisine in reasonable price! We had BBQ beef & pork, bibimbap and rice cake which were all very tasty and authentic! Just a tiny issue that the staff would pour all your meat into the hot plate, rather than let you do it yourself one by one - you can imagine some meat would be overcooked in this way...
