Had the best Fillet steak I’ve had in a long time tonight. Great pub, great food & lovely staff. Never disappointed when I go. Highly recommend!!
We arrived at this pub via the canal on a canal boat and what a find. The place was buzzing & the food was delicious! The owner was there and he treated us to a couple of magic tricks, which I am still trying to get my head around. A true delight of a place! Will definitely be returning 😀
Loved this place. Stopped off for early lunch drinks one one day, evening birthday meal later on,then lunch when passing back (we were on a boat). Service was excellent and polite. As others said, menu a little limited but then I think that means less microwaved meals. Really characterful place and busy which means they’re doing the right things.
Lovely food, great location, reasonable prices and looks like a real pub should. Menu caters for gluten free too. Will definately visit again as staff friendly, polite and knowlegeable too.
The Folly at Napton on the Hill, is one of those pubs that initially defies description. Quirky - certainly - sometimes perhaps a little weird but always full of charm. What makes a good pub? Well kept real ales, good food interesting decor - the Folly has all of these - but the way it achieves it's status as a 'bloody good pub' is subtle - it creeps up on you after a number of visits until you decide that the little village of Napton on the Hill wouldn't perhaps be a bad place to live... try it - you'll not be disappointed!
Not a large menu so choosing wasn't too tricky. Decided on the chicken, bacon and tarragon pie which was delightful. Definitely no skimping on the chicken!
A young man called Chris served us and he was so polite and courteous even though it was very busy.
Will definitely visit again when travelling along the Oxford Canal on our narrowboat.
Fantastic place with a great atmosphere, the food is excellent and in a great setting next to the canal.
Every visit never disappoints and always looking forward to eating and drinking here.
Friendly staff just adds to the buzz and great character of The Folly.
Great food. Popped by for lunch yesterday. Lots of space to fit out in the garden and enjoy the sunshine. Very friendly staff and a lovely relaxed atmosphere.
Superb customer service , beautiful surroundings and brilliant food - by far the best we’ve eaten in ages . Well done !
We rated this the number one place to stop at on your journeys up and down the canal. The atmosphere is quaint. The service was excellent and the food and drink was perfect.
It's a proper nice pub. Great food. Great decorative bars with engaging staff and a Open Mic offering too. What more can anyone who likes good beer, food, pubs and music want!
Excellent food. Brilliant staff. This is one of the best. Lovely friendly pub.
Absolutely amazing place. Mark is a real gem and the staff are very friendly. We tried the local cider which was gorgeous, food is delicious. It was a busy Sunday, I arrived at 1.25 pm and got served my beautiful Sunday roast by 1.45. Spot on
We called in here on the off chance on our way to Warwick last Sunday, we hadn't booked but they offered us a table with 1.5hrs free which was enough time to enjoy their Sunday lunch which I would give 10/10 and a drink. The staff were friendly and welcoming and all in all a charming quirky little pub. Would definitely visit again if we get the chance to :-) Great start to our 4 day stay in the Midlands.
Really quirky pub on the side of the canal. Really dog friendly , a great place to eat after a walk along the towpath. Home cooked food and good real ale, good value for money too.
Really cosy pub with a roaring fire, candles on the table and friendly service. I had the roast beef Sunday lunch and was glad to find that the beef was properly cooked (not pink). They also have a lovely cafe called the Potting Shed (photos with plants). I will definitely visit both again.
Cracking pub serving an excellent range of drinks and food. The menu offers everything from traditional fish and chips through to daily specials. We were quite a large party and service was superb with orders taken promptly and food served quickly. Food was uniformly delicious as was the real ales and ciders we sampled. Well worth a visit for a friendly welcome, great food and all delivered with a smile.
Lovely pub, loads of outside tables and lovely canal paths near for a pre or post dinner walk. Only downfall they only did Sunday roasts on Sunday, too hot for that in 30°! So enjoyed a local cider and went elsewhere to eat
An easy 5* review 😎
After 2hrs in the rain after picking up our narrowboat, we were ready for dinner.
Arriving at 7pm in the dog friendly bar, we surveyed all the reserved tables with trepidation. The amazing staff fitted us in at 8pm and we were rewarded with great local beers, fantastic steak and fish&chips, and stunning deserts.
The Folly is a real gem!
The Family at the Folly offers the type of service and hospitality that most pubs did in the countryside 40 years ago when I first migrated to the UK. The location is lovely as it is right in the country. About 10 minutes from Southam and 20 minutes from Rugby. And sits on the Oxford, canal. Going inside the pub is like stepping back in history to a time where publicans proudly hung. their polished bras mementos and plate rails held beautiful works of crockery, paintings, and photographs Now let’s get to the grub. We all ordered burgers and chopsI will say not just any burger. or chip, our 10-year-old daughter commented on the texture and the crunchiness of the chips. And on the robust flavour and juiciness of the burgers. Oh snd the plates were steaming hot. We’ve been several times since and sampled there beautiful Sunday roast. The service was great as well. It’s a must go for anyone who wants to get a feel of what pubs were like in days gone by.
We called into this pub on a very wet evening whilst on a canal boating holiday. The pub felt warm and inviting, we booked our table for four and enjoyed our meal thoroughly. There was free entertainment in the garden “potting shed” a fabulous ukulele band. A lovely evening.
Lovely quaint pub, lovely atmosphere. Very friendly and help staff... would definitely recommend going there.
Having read some poor reviews we were uncertain whether we had made a good choice for our evening meal. We need not have worried, it was excellent. From the start the service was attentive and welcoming, the beer was well kept and there was plenty of choice on the menu at reasonable prices. We both had lasagna, one beef and the other vegetarian. The food came quickly, was piping hot and delicious. We could not fault the service, the food or the prices. Well worth going.
We had a lovely time at The Folly at Napton. Super friendly staff, lovely atmosphere, very delicious food and lovely local cider. They even sang happy birthday for our son. We definitely recommend this pub to everyone and they are also dog friendly too. 🥰🥰🥰
Fabulous location, gorgeous pub, lovely food, warm welcome, and was happy for us to stay on site in our motorhome overnight thankyou
