Staying at York Marina campsite we were looking for a local pub for a drink and a meal. This place is a lovely, friendly pub with a good selection of drinks and food. As a family of 3, (plus 1 pooch) we had the steak in ale pie x2 and a pizza. The food was amazing. Probably the best steak in ale pi
We dropped by here for lunch after shopping at the York outlet, Sally was very welcoming and friendly. We had burgers and a pizza and the food was delicious. The pub is a good size inside and dog friendly, there is also outside seating front and back. We will definitely return when we are in the are
This place is the best. Had dinner there on Thursdsy and lunch on Friday. Sally is the loveliest person ever and couldn't do enough for us. Anthony (landlord/chef) makes the best burgers and onion rings are out of this world. Being a coeliac is always a worry when eating out but Anthony was fully aw
Came here for a carvery on the 7th April 2024 and it was exactly what I needed. The carvery was delicious, staff were friendly and good VFM. Didn't take a room though so can't give stars on that. Highly recommended.
What a delight - a real taste of good old fashioned English hospitality!! The property is quirky in a good way, the staff are so friendly and the food is so good and traditional - I would really recommend the place and will come back again - top marks to everyone that looked after us ๐Ÿ‘
I would say the best carvery we have ever had. Absolutely delicious. We visited whilst staying at Naburn Lock caravan park. We hadn't booked but the landlord went out of his way to make sure we were fed. Excellent service.
Amazing carvery, just absolutely delicious. The lovely lady serving the carvery and the landlord were so friendly and accommodating for a large group of us. The desserts are amazing too, definitely recommend visiting, we'll be back ๐Ÿ˜Š
What a great place to enjoy a traditional Sunday lunch. Fantastic selection of home cooked meats and veg from the serve yourself display. Lovely hosts and friendly locals made our day out with family and dog a pre Xmas treat.
We dropped in for a coffee halfway round a walk, it looked closed but it was in fact open! We ended up with sandwiches and skin on chips, both very nice. Years ago the Blacksmiths Arms used to be the place to go for a Sunday Carvery but sadly it only had a few locals in, a broken gas ring and no car
Wow this is a proper local pub. The staff were great, the locals were fun, the beer was good, the food looked nice and it was a hive of activity. Highly recommended
Great friendly pub right near the river Ouse. Really friendly bar staff that make you feel very welcome.
Called in during a 10 mile dog walk, greeted by lovely hosts and a warm welcome. We sat outside as the dogs were muddy, polite and friendly staff so would definitely give you a 5 star. Will be back again for sure
We were fortunate to be staying close by at York Marina to discover this little gem of a public house, a warm welcome awaits here and the Sunday carvery was absolutely delicious, definitely a return on the cards ๐Ÿ™
Omg!! Me and my family went there for a Sunday Carvery, (as we are down here on holiday) and it is the best carvery we have ever had!! We donโ€™t write reviews but this one definitely deserved a review, and we had pudding after, and they were so tasty!! 100% recommend going here.
Fantastic, welcoming owners! Delicious food! Reasonable priced.
Hidden gem! They managed to squeeze us in at the last minute. Staff are really friendly. Food was lovely we even received a free Fatherโ€™s Day gift ๐Ÿ˜Š. We live nearly an hour away from the pub and our son accidentally left his bracelet there. Anthony went out of his way to ring us and even deliver bac
