Very nice! I stayed in one of the rooms above the pub, and it felt luxurious compared to the rest of my holiday. The rooms were very clean, apart from 2 spiderwebs. The bathroom was very nice and spacious, plenty of hot water. Beds were super comfortable. I thought I would hear noise from the pub, but there was barely anything, nothing that disrupted my sleep (Pub closes at 23). Breakfast was also taken care of, you had tea and walkers, a small chocolate roll, powdered coffee, and cereal.. There's a communal kitchen with a nice lounge space. There's basic stuff in the fridge like milk, drinks, butter, etc. We could enter and leave the hotel at any time, since we had the key to the back door ourselves. All and all a very pleasant experience, definitely recommended.

Had a meal here tonight after seeing it recommended on Instagram, definitely wasn't disappointed. Had the haggis scotch egg to start with to share, egg perfectly cooked and beautiful haggis. Main course was seafood linguine and a steak sandwich, steak was medium as requested and melted in the mouth. Seafood linguine had a good mixture of seafood and the sauce was nice as spicy, as requested and a nicely balanced tomato and cream sauce. Service from Tyler, very welcoming and attentive, nothing was any bother to him. Will come back again

I'm on a very restricted diet at the moment - as well as being vegetarian, I can't have gluten, dairy or soya for the time being. We chose to eat at the Ship Inn with friends because they offered Gluten Free and Vegan menus, and the staff couldn't have been more attentive! They and the chef were very allergy/intolerance aware and were happy to "mix and match" what I could have on the menus. We all had a really great meal and would definitely go again! Thank you, Team Ship Inn!!

The bistro is a fantastic little eatery with room for plenty of people - as well as a glass-covered garden area, which still feels like outside dining without the rain. Excellent gluten-free options. The pub part is also nice, a little traditional pub with all the usual stuff on sale. Will definitely be back in the near future.

Stopped off for late lunch, whilst shopping in Edinburgh. Wasn't disappointed staff were very pleasant, the food was excellent best fish and chips I've had in a long time , partner had the Cajun chicken burger which he thoroughly enjoyed. The restaurant is very clean , spacious and has outside courtyard also, toilets are spotless. Credit to all the staff , definitely be back .

Just fab. First time of us visiting since the refurb was done. Booked a table online and paid £10pp which is a really good idea. The food was amazing, the staff were lovely and the tables were well spaced out. My husband had the soup and cajun chicken mac n cheese. I had the squid followed by one of the specials - risotto. Portions are very generous. The mac n cheese came home with us, too.

We have just eaten in the bistro at The Ship Inn - and so glad we did! Excellent service and superb food. 5 min walk from where we'd parked on the seafront. On the way to our table, our server enquired about allergies and because of my allergy our food took a little longer - which was all explained. 10/10 Well done The Ship Inn - happy holiday makers. Would recommend 👍

While the restaurant entrance wasn't obvious to a newcomer, like me, once inside, I was very impressed with the service, food, dining, and restroom facilities. We had a table of six celebrating a family birthday, and the whole event was thoroughly enjoyable. It was a very warm room that could have had a little more ventilation, but that's Scotland in June!

Took my daughter for lunch and sat in the courtyard as it was a lovely day. The retractable roof was drawn back and the setting reminded me of being on holiday. The service was attentive and very polite and the food was delicious. Highly recommend *****

Went for lunch after the marathon, second year in a row we’ve been here after. Food is delicious. The beef roast was excellent and enjoyed by both having it. The chicken burger was also extremely good. Nobody left hungry. Cocktails were pretty decent and well priced. Lovely interior. We sat outside in their covered terrace which has retractable glass roofing. This was nice although the seating is less comfortable. The staff were very friendly and attentive, service was excellent. So close to a 5/5 but a couple of niggles. We walked in without a booking at their opening time to an empty restaurant. We were told inside was fully booked but we could sit outside. By time we left after lunch, there were still several tables empty we could have sat at. I’d have valued the comfortable seating, particularly after running that day. They also added on £3 to our bill, ?for what, turns out it was for extra gravy, which I take issue with. Instead, give enough gravy with the meal, don’t charge me £3 when I ask for extra, and certainly don’t do so without advising me of the charge. It was taken off before payment without any issue. I’ll again point out that service was otherwise excellent.
