Lovely hidden gem in Musselburgh!! Staff were so very nice and the food was absolutely delicious. What a genuinely lovely place to come to for dinner! Would highly recommend and we will be back.....and happy to have found our new fave restaurant not far from home (instead of in Edinburgh)....we have a new Date Night venue Expect to see you win the Good Food Award for 2017 (for three years in a row!)

Recently celebrated a "significant" birthday with my family in the Gurkha. A beautiful meal, great service and friendly, helpful staff, catering for adults and children. Food could not be faulted, even though our eyes were bigger than our tummies! Doggy bags very quickly offered! Can highly recommend this jewel of a restaurant in Musselburgh.

Was there last night and the food was amazing. I'm not a lamb fan but my husband had the lamb sagg and it was really lovely. So tender. We only had one rice and one nann and that was enough for both of us to share. We asked the lady if we should have 2 rices and she was very honest. Definitely recommend and will be back 😊

We were early but the restaurant filled up quickly. The chicken pakora was lovely , I had the madras it to die for , not sure in the morning though. Very hot for me.

Good place for some spicy SPICY Biryani! I really loved the biryani. It was nice and tangy and delicious I would definitely try it again and I love the service too. However, the only thing I disliked was the quantity of onion pakoda they provided(only 3). Overall, a nice place!!

I dined here with family the other day. The restaurant was quiet. The service was good but was perfect. The menu is extensive and caters for most diets. You can’t go wrong popadoms and the dips were really nice. I had a scrimp dish for starters but asked to have it as a side. The waiter also confirmed after taking everyone’s order that starters will come with mains. However, that didn’t happen. My starters arrived before the main and so everyone sat and watched me eat which was unfortunate. The starter was tasty. It was spicier than I expected but tolerable. For mains I got a lamb dish which was recommended by one of the waiters (I couldn’t decide from the massive menu). I got it with coconut and pineapple rice which I have never had before. We ordered a couple of naan for the table but the gave us plain naan instead of garlic naan. We didn’t bother asking them to change it. The lamb dish was nice and the coconut and pineapple rice was very good. Everyone else appeared to enjoy their dishes. I did have a nibble of some of theirs and they were good. For dessert some of us got a native version of ice cream (made from yogurt instead of cream) and the pistachio one was indulgent. The mango wasn’t enjoyed as much. We all got chai tea as a complimentary drink and it was lovely. Overall, we had a good experience. Certainly not the best Nepalese food I’ve had but it was still enjoyable. It was all reasonably priced as well. I’d like it if staff were a little more enthusiastic and one of them needs to tuck their shirt in. #ducktail

We decided to visit this place on the go and it didn’t disappoint at all! Boy what an enthusiastic bunch of fellows work here, everyone was very very friendly and did suggest us good options. Starters were spot on with their flavours and presentation, albeit I would have loved more quantity (who doesn’t! especially when the food is tasty). Aloo Tareko - pretty much like a aloo tikki, but it was very crispy and the chutney complimented it. Chicken starter was on point, everyone loved it. For mains we ordered Paneer Balti and Paneer Kadai, they shared same base (curry), and it was good as well, although could be more spicy. A few of us had chef special chicken mains, which by their feedback was good. We were given free tea(chai) at the end of the meal, which we all loved and definitely would be visiting again when we travel :)

Take away. Quick delivery. Free crisp poppadoms with small but tasty sauces. King prawn biryani delicious. Lamb and chicken well cooked and delicate. Spices nuanced yet with punch. Good filling in peshwari nan. Filling but not too heavy: moderately spiced dishes flavoursome and charming. On the quality and more expensive side for take away but an impressive banquet for two. Enough left over for a second sitting!

Very pleasant experience. We ordered a starter and main, the mixed pakora and two curries both were lovely. The Napelese beer on tap is nice, pairs very well with the dishes. The service was very friendly and attentive, worth the visit!
