You’ll need to reserve a table, being the only good Italian restaurant in the area. I would have preferred a bit more whitebait for my starters but the rest of the meal was good. Service was nice and the prices were reasonable.
La Piccola Italia is a must-visit if you're in Monmouth. I've been to a few Italian places in the Monmouthshire area and have not been that impressed so far with both price and quality but La Piccola Italia puts the rest of them to absolute shame.
In terms of atmosphere, it is definitely a cozy spot. The restaurant is not massive but it is well decorated and is a very intimate setting. You might find it difficult with a large group here as it would be a tight squeeze.
The customer service was fantastic. Our wait staff was very attentive and friendly. We could not fault the staff whatsoever.
Food-wise is where La Piccola Italia shines. Nearly everything we ordered was fantastic, including a lovely selection of starters. I particularly recommend the Salmone Ripieno if you're a fan of smoked salmon like me.
The only thing I would say is that I would skip the Antipasti board next time I visit. Even though it was tasty, the selection did not have as much variety as I had hoped.
However, after 2 visits and different choices both times, it doesn't seem like the kitchen staff can put a foot wrong. If you enjoy Italian food or even food in general, I highly recommend La Piccola Italia.
Fast and lovely service. The waiter's were really friendly. Food was absolutely delicious. One of the best pizza's we have ever had. A beautiful little spot to eat!
In Monmouth, very few good restaurants in the town, so booked this one on the first night and rebooked for the next two nights. Typical Italian with an extensive menu, average with Food, wine and drinks about £50 head. Cheaper if you just go for the Pizza menu or fewer courses! We did tend to push the boat out.
Best pizza I’ve ever had!! Service was 1st class could do enough. The wife’s pasta dish was delicious hope to be back
A little piece of Italy 🇮🇹in between the English and Welsh border...
From outside it enticises you in with the Italian flag sign, the boxed flowers, the appealing menu and the photos regarding the terrace and inside is just as gorgeous with the drinks and pasta on wooden shelves, white flowers coming from the roof, the wooden tables and white leather chairs. They have two floors - one downstairs that seats around 40/50 people, with group tables and couple tables against the mirror wall. The terrace is upstairs that can be seen on the photos on the outside sign. I didn't have chance to go up but next time I will do!!
Great choice of food, deserts and drinks. So many tasty options from starters to pasta to pizza to sides to puddings. For starters we shared bread and olives which was nice. I had the Spaghetti Bolognese which was 10 out of 10 it was so so nice 🙂 my fiance had prawn linguine which he thoroughly enjoyed. He also went all out and had a tiramisu which we waited a while for but got in the end as it was busy and we shared a bottle of wine. All of the food coming out looked delicious and I want to try more from there.
Food was served quickly and was hot. Pudding took a while but was enjoyed my partner.
Staff were friendly and busy. Young staff and Two main Italian men keeping everyone served and making sure everyone had what they wanted and needed.
There are toilets. No parking outside unless disabled and only for a hour. Can park in Waitrose or river which is a 2 minute walk.
Average price for Italian food but well worth it and a real treat.
Would recommend pre booking as it can get busy.
Definitely worth a visit and we will be returning thank you so much!!
Called in on the off-chance while on a day out in Monmouth, well, our 49th wedding anniversary. Wonderful place to eat.
“From the moment we stepped into La Piccola Italia, it was an experience like no other. The ambiance transports you straight to a charming Italian village, setting the stage for an extraordinary culinary journey. The food is nothing short of exquisite—each dish was a work of art, masterfully combining authentic flavors and fresh ingredients. But what really sets this restaurant apart is the staff. Their attentive, yet unintrusive service made us feel like honored guests in a cozy Italian home. I can’t recommend La Piccola Italia enough; it’s a hidden gem in Monmouth that everyone should discover!”
We’ve been to this restaurant many times up to 2020 and allways enjoyed the food. This week we have eaten there 6 out of 7 nights. Brilliant everything they do is excellent. Well worth a visit - superb pasta and pizza with sweets to die for. So pleased they have kept going after the pandemic - but not really too surprised such is the quality of the food and service
Service and food were exceptional. We visited 11th September. Very young male waiter who is slim and wears glasses, was extremely attentive and helpful. An asset to the restaurant. Would definitely recommend. Outside terrace is great place to eat.
