Such a fantastic place - had a 16th birthday party family lunch here on Sunday 29th April for 13 in George Mallory private room. Henry looked after us all so well, food delicious, Sunday roast perfection! Style & decor is just lovely, can't thank team enough for such a perfect afternoon.

We made an impromptu visit on our way home from Quarry Bank Mill and had a delightful evening. Every member of staff was courteous and cheerful and we were particularly well looked after by the manager Jake. Our meal was delicious. I was fortunate enough to have the last roast beef and it was the best pub roast I've had in a long time. I stole some of my partner's banana soufflé and instantly regretted not ordering my own as it was divine. I loved the ambience and friendliness of the pub and will definitely return.

Great Sunday lunch, good food well prepared, presented and cooked. The staff were smiling and very helpful. In spite of being exceedingly busy, the meals were served within the expected time and were delicious. Recommended.

So nice sitting next to a cosy fire on a Saturday afternoon. Pub decoration is lovely and cosy and dogs are welcome. We like the cheese board, cashews, chips, crips and beers... It would be nice to have olives and garlic bread as snack on the menu too and wine by the glass!!!! Lovely atmosphere!!!

Had a lovely meal and guy on front of house didn't get his name but he had a beard He was lovely and very bad welcoming and hit us a table even though we didn't have a reservation. Definitely come again. And good food prices.

Very good country pub. Menu varied and supported by some great local beers. Outdoor area good for those with dogs or those that want to enjoy the very low aircraft from MCR Airport.
Try something different, meat or fish pies are made locally and all ingredients are sourced from Cheshire. Steak and Ale pie would be my choice. Deserts are limited but if you have a sweet tooth order the sticky pudding or if available fruit pies.
Walk off lunch on one of the local trails adjacent to the parking lot. Walk north and you will find a local brewery. This brewery only to willing to show you around.

Exceptional cooking in a cosy pub. My wife loved the cured sea trout starter, and the filet steak which was cooked perfectly. She raved about the cheddar bon bon which accompanied the dish. I had the lamb and feta croquettes to start - super moist lamb in a crispy crumb. The feta complimented perfectly. I had the steak and kidney pudding for my main. Possibly the best I've ever had. It came with cauliflower cheese - also fabulous. Packed full of flavour, and not for anyone looking for a light lunch! Service was quick and polite. Highly recommend - can't wait to return.

If you like somewhere with beautiful ambiance and an old world feel, with utterly amazing food, then come here. I found it hard to fault this place. The peach melba soufflé is the best dessert I’ve ever had. We will be back. My only complaint is that we don’t live closer!

Great country pub. Lovely setting, really friendly. Great food and drink. We had something from the light lunch menu. Very nice. Dog friendly and big enough car park. Definitely worth a visit.

Whatever you're doing, keep doing it!!! What a marvellous, impromptu lunch date with my husband! Always greeted in a genuinely friendly way. I had the dog with me so was really happy to be seated in the corner in the bar area with her by my side (I'd brought her blanket with me). Someone immediately came over to change the disappearing candle and table water and glasses was provided without even asking - now THOSE were really nice touches😊 Extensive menu but we chose light bites (not THAT light, I didn’t eat for the rest of the day!!!). I had Croque Madame with a poached egg on top, served with a lovely sized portion of chips and a delicious proper salad on the side with the most delicious dressing. Hubby had a steak sandwich which he said was also delicious but the bread was just slightly over toasted (he ate the lot so can't have been that bad!). We did have to wait rather a long time for two small meals BUT it was extremely busy and there were meals coming out all the time AND they came over to apologise for the wait. I just loved people watching from my corner table and the ambiance of the place. I had asked for my poached egg to be hard as I can't stand runny eggs and it was perfect! All in all just such a wonderful, fully attentive and delicious experience and would highly recommend. I'd give 10 stars if I could. Thank you so much to the whole team including the kitchen staff 😌 Photos - my husband pulled a stupid angry face so I promised I'd post it for all to see - that'll teach him 🤨🤣

Excellent service and lovely, enjoyable food. All cooked to perfection. This pub has won the Best Pub (food wise) in Cheshire for the last 5 years, we are not surprised. It's in the Michelin food guide. Well worth a visit!

Visited for lunch on a sunny day. One of the best reviewed and written about pubs in the area, or even the Northwest. The pub itself looks beyond stunning. Really cosy inside and feels like everything in the place is as old as the pub (few hundred years). Really good fish & chips, as expected. Blue cheese burger really had some decent blue cheese on it instead of the cheap sauce you get at a lot of places. Brownie was fantastic and served with some nice sorbet, homemade macaroon, and some cool garnishes so not just a typical pub brownie. Definitely a cut about and well worth taking the time to visit.

Lovely old pub with many original features and interesting probs. We actually invited that pub wasn't very busy and kind of peaceful away instead of other overcrowded and boozing pubs. We came early evening so very pleased they still served food as some precious places refused to serve us. Fish pie was tasty same as sweet potatoes but wish there was more fish. Fish and chips was nice. Adore skinny chips fresh and good quality. Tartar sauce was very tasty my favourite good, quality mayo finely chopped well balanced ingredients. Fish a bit to oily to my likes and green salad was nice bonus but wish was more fresher. Very nice and polite staff with professional approach. Tea was very nice served and fine China. Will definitely visit again. Good value for the price. Private car park welcomed bonus.

Absolutely beautiful corky and romantic bar & delicious little bites. It’s a bright shiny day afternoon, two ladies welcome us kind and respectful, all types of drinks from Ales to strong liquors, very diverse menu, prices are reasonable, we had two little bites dishes (ox tale with soft puffy horseradish and bon bon crab) they were full of flavor, good sizes, parking available😉 I hope bless them again with my presence.
