Atmosphere: Nice atmosphere with a candle on each table. Dog-friendly. Though the one near us was obscured by a dining table, there are real log fires. Food: I ordered the pie of the day (beef in red wine with puff pastry), which was hot and a little empty (see pic), but the sides were cold. Service: Our waiter, Karen, was friendly and attentive. I mentioned the cold sides to her, and a fresh set of sides were immediately ordered without question. My wife's meal was perfect. If it hadn't been for Karen, I probably wouldn't visit again; however, I am now happy to give it another try.

We had a great time here. The food was beautiful and the weather was fantastic to sit outside and eat our lunch and take in the fantastic views. It was my husbands birthday and the staff where brilliant brought a cake out for him. Staff all really nice and friendly Highley recommended 👌 also I loved that they had a dog menu

The pub itself is lovely, very cosey and in a nice spot. Service was good. 2 out of the 4 meals ordered were enjoyed. What could be improved? The steaks. We ordered 2 sirloins, 1 medium, 1 medium rare. Both arrived over cooked on the outside, and rare on the inside. The outside was very chewy. I mentioned this when asked how everything was as we paid and was given the answer, oh well, I'll pass that on to the chef but there's not much he can do because of the stove/grill being old! I found that reply bizarre, if the chef can't control the stove and cook to guests preferences, maybe you shouldn't have steak on the menu. We would visit again but definitely avoid the steak.

If you’re looking to pig out and enjoy a dining room away from home, Hare and Hounds is the place for Sunday roast and a desert to follow. Hare and Hounds is also pet friendly pub with a dedicated section at the entrance. For mains we ordered turkey, 2 pork bellies and a trio. The roasted veg was caramelised well, broccoli was crunchy and the meat was succulent. For desert we ordered a honey pot was an edible garden. The banoffee pie was layered like millionaire shortbread and a sticky toffee pudding was as rich as ever. The food and service was second to none, not to mention the staff were full of humour. It came to a total of £107. The male toilets were hygienic, however the female toilets were not as up to standard.

Decent parking. Comforting feel inside. Food was lovely. High chairs provided and children plate and cutlery was very hand. Staff friendly. Has toilets and baby changing area. Price was decent. Had dog treats and bowls in entrance. And even blankets. Lovely place.

Beautiful location! The food was amazing and it was topped off by one of the best desserts I have ever had!! Had the Camembert bites for the starter, Hunters Chicken for mains and Chocolate flower pot for the dessert. Highly recommended for an afternoon lunch ! Staff were all in tune with each other and provided a 5Star customer service all afternoon. Will certainly be returning!!

We ate here again yesterday, a wonderful pub with welcoming staff and great food at reasonable prices. We find it consistently reliable and after trying other places always end up back here! Well done to the team Sophie and Josh and the chefs Danny and Dan.

Our first time here, really enjoyed our experience, say in the lovely beer garden overlooking beautiful views. Large car park, food was good and the staff are very friendly. We will happily go back there.

We visited on valentines evening to be greeted by live music which was lovely, set off the vibe really well with it being valentines date night. We did have a small wait for our table to be ready but once seated we were greeted by our server James which told us of the specials they had available. James was very attentive and quick with the food and drinks order I got the hunters chicken which was covered well with cheese and bbq sauce with homemade chips highly recommend (unsure if this is a usual menu item as it was our first time visiting for food). My partner got the surf n turf, he asked for medium rarely and said it was cooked to perfection Overall happy with the service supplied and would visit again

We very rarely go out for a Sunday roast. I always think I can do it better, my fave the Shibden Mill Inn is a tad expensive when it's not a birthday & I expect chain pubs to be mediocre - stewed veg, tough meat, fake gravy etc. My partner's mum insisted we went out for Sunday Lunch the other week & booked The Nags Head, our nearest vintage inn. I was really pleasantly surprised! So much so that I booked our next nearest Vintage Inn, The Hare & Hounds, for our post YSP dinner 3 weeks later. It's really nice! The staff we encountered were very professional & accommodating. The food was hot, plentiful & delicious - I had a beef roast & lemon tart to finish, plus a couple of glasses of a very nice wine indeed. Actually couldn't fault it, no loud awful clientele, no rowdy kids on loud tablets, no cattle market feel. Yes I'm a massive snob - those things just make my nostrils flare & guarantee I'll never return to a place, but it was pleasant & reasonable. Thanks to Jacob too.
