We went for lunch on Sunday few weeks ago. The place is cozy with great atmosphere. The food was absolutely fantastic. We had lamb on starter and duck on main course. Thank you to the owner / chef - Michal. Your food is outstanding and service excellent. We will back soon :)
Visited for Afternoon Tea on Easter Sunday and would definitely recommend. Great amount of food, hot and cold items - soup in a tea cup was a lovely add, and nice balance between savory and sweet. Occasionally Afternoon Tea is 'alot of cakes and sweet stuff' but this felt balanced. Still plenty goodies don't get me wrong but not sickly sweet with the chocolate strawberry and rhubarb cheesecake 😋
Food cooked to prefection. The details on presentation are on point. Food rich in flavor. Absolutely delicious. Hats off to the chef! Excellent environment, friendly service, great menu choices. A must go!

Great place for a quiet drink, meal or both. Front of House Staff very professional and friendly. They take into account all your needs, including diatry requirements. Well worth a visit or few.

Great quality food. You can feel the care and attention put into the food. Everything made to order. Eclectic menu but should be something for almost everyone. You'll have long wait times for food but it's worth it. Will definitely come back.
We had a lovely lunch here on Sunday to celebrate our 35th anniversary. The food was delicious and the service was excellent. So glad we tried it as we stay in the next village. Will definitely return soon. Thanks to Michal and Gordon.

Most amazing steak pie you will ever have, great quality produce, friendly knowledgeable staff and owners
A fantastic wee place with welcoming, friendly and attentive staff. We went without a booking and were easily accommodated. We ate from the Christmas menu and the food was delicious and well presented and we were given complimentary canapés from the chef while we waited for our starters. We highly recommend going here and we will definitely return, thank you.
The atmosphere in the place was very calm and mood setting, the service was absolutely 10/10 they wore all very nice. The food was top notch, our starter was really appetizing and our main was an absolute filler. The owner is an absolute legend for opening this place and anybody else that considers going there I can vouch for this place to be the best around!!!!
Lovely evening at TDN tonight, had my favourite Flat Iron Steak Pie, amazing succulent tender beef cooked to perfection, can't say enough good things about Michals food, never been disappointed, try it I guarantee you will return again and again, and thanks to Shannon & Jay for the wonderful service 10/10
We received a friendly welcome and first class service. What a lovely pub which was spotlessly clean and served freshly cooked food which was served piping hot. They have taken measures to ensure everyone is covid safe. Thoroughly enjoyable and we wish them every success after such a difficult time.
First visit for me although my wife regularly visits with her friends. I have to say the owners Lauren and Laura (sorry if I've got your names wrong) are brilliant front of house. The restaurant has a relaxed atmosphere. The food was very tasty even though it's a limited choice for lunch but I think this was why it was so good as it's clearly made fresh to order. The coffee which is sourced from the Edinburgh Coffee Company was a lovely blend, strong but not bitter, just how I like it. I'll finally be back. Well done ladies.
Visited Sunday 5th September. Lovely friendly atmosphere, attentive very friendly staff. Oh my goodness the food was so delicious. I had the Halloumi started, beautifully cooked and I can say in all honesty the best side salad I have ever tasted, (I do not get excited about salad) always just think it helps to colour and fill the plate, but the strawberries, raspberry’s and Chile jam puts on another level, wow. Followed by the Flat Iron Steak Pie. Meat just melted in the mouth, all veg and accompaniments delicious. We were a table of 5 and everyone thoroughly enjoyed their food. My friend loved her Mascarpone cheeses and Straberries which I ate half of, theNoddles which her grand daughter and me finished off (she’s not a big portion eater) we’re also fab.
Well done guys will be back very soon, would highly recommend. 👍👌👏
Very nice lunch served to us when we visited this week. Large dinning area, good selection of drinks and great food. Car park available for patrons. The staff were polite, prompt and well presented.
What a pleasant surprise this place is, we chose to go there for the New Year party.
The new owners have transformed the old village pub into a bright cheerful classy pub/restaurant. The staff were delightful, the buffet was excellent. Their chef catered for special dietary requirements which was perfect as one of our party is gluten free.
What a find...! And so close to home.

Contrary to the non-descriptive, one-worded, (obviously fake) review advising people to avoid this fine establishment, I cannot recommend Thistle Dae Nicely enough. This is a new venture where a team of efficient and enthusiastic staff are trying to provide an excellent service in a small village, and I can’t help but think that the type of aforementioned post is incredibly damaging and not at all informative as to why it should be avoided.
What I have found to be true is that you will receive friendly, courteous service and great tasting food - all for a reasonable price! So what more could you want? Well, how about Fish Friday where you’ll be treated to fresh fish wrapped in a batter that’s so light it melts in your mouth? Or daily lentil soup just like your granny used to make, or how about a Sunday roast with all the trimmings and fresh, tasty cakes and milkshakes to die for? Still not enough? How about excellent service in a clean and cosy restaurant where you will be treated like family and made to feel welcome?
Don’t take my word for it though, feel free to drop in for a freshly brewed coffee, where you will enjoy tasty food and a first-class service - plus you’ll be supporting your local community, what’s not to love?
