This used to be my socialising haunt in the 60s and 70s. To see the changes that have been made are amazing. The decor is fascinating. Wishing the new owners well in their enterprise.
Had a lovely lunch, they forgot our second round of drinks then forgot to come back and clear the plates and offer us desert. Got there in the end deserts were fab. We were seated in a separate room from the main bar and I think this was the main issue of being forgotten. Will def return but will only eat in bar area. Reasonably priced food worth a try.
Great pub set back on the riverside road area. Clean & tidy....
Great friendly service on my visit & average selection of beers....not overly impressed but satisfied for 1 pint of Guinness...
Seating only with limited standing areas & zero to limited availability on my visit..... as no hanging around the bar area even if on your own.
Overall a pleasant pub to visit....no food this occassion but menu looked okish....
The new refurbishment looks fab! Came in for breakfast. Good quality ingredients well cooked and great service. Coffee was fantastic!
Only minor criticisms were there was no salt and pepper on the table, toast was served without butter, and I'd have loved a 2nd cup of coffee to go with my breakfast (I drunk the 1st one while waiting for meal to be cooked) but no one offered!
We'll definitely be back again, and have already recommended to friends and family.
I recently visited The Lord Nelson after its refurbishment and had a mixed dining experience. The staff were notably friendly, with special mention to our attentive waitress, Rachel. However, the food had its ups and downs. The starters, buffalo wings and salmon pâté, left something to be desired – the wings were small with little meat, and the pâté lacked the expected salmon flavor. The soup of the day was also somewhat bland. On the other hand, the mains shined brighter. The lasagna was a highlight, boasting great taste, while the chicken skewers were a bit bland and could benefit from better marinating and seasoning. Overall, the experience was positive, earning a 4 out of 5 rating. With some menu tweaks, I'd happily give them a 5 star Rating.
Just had a fabulous Sunday lunch. Great portions - local meat, lovely service. No booking required but very popular come early.
Last visit to this iconic venue was circa 5 years ago and I swore never to revisit. Recently refurbished under new ownership and I give The Lord Nelson Hotel 10/10. If it was possible to upgrade the star rating I would. Went for Sunday lunch on 16th July 2023 and I could not be more impressed. The decor….the service….the food…. Is absolutely outstanding. If you want fast food go to Macdonalds. This is not fast food it is top of the range quality food worth waiting for. I love a leisurely lunch and that’s what I got. I’m sure if you were in a hurry they would accommodate you though. I am from the hospitality industry based in London and spend a lot of time in Pembrokeshire and have failed to find so far, perfection on this scale.
As for Orla the entrepreneur in training…..I wish for you the very best future in whatever you decide to do.
Congratulations to team Lord Nelson. Keep up the standards and you have a gold mine.
Very nice. Great food and friendly staff. Good service
Very good food. Good choice of drinks. Staff very polite good service. We will be back.
Delicious food and a lovely place to eat. Staff were friendly and helpful. Would definitely recommend and visit again.
Best service, staff and Sunday roast . Live locally so can't rate rooms but judging by staff and decor will be 5 STAR
Nicely refurbished, food very good and choice of beers good.
Had a lovely meal at the Lord Nelson Hotel. Friendly staff with a great atmosphere, definitely going back.
Nice food, pleasant staff and good beer altogether lovely.
Recently reopened, couldn't fault. Shelly and her team are fantastic! Will be returning soon when next down to this beautiful part of the country.
Went for Sunday lunch, very good experience all round. Try it I'm sure you will like it
Ignore the star rating and ignore the dated rooms. What made this place shine was the lovely and very helpful staff, the amazing view over the sea, it's clean, the bar area and outdoors is lovely, and I felt welcome.
I was only here for 1 night to attend a wedding the following day, but my stay was enjoyed, and even the young locals who were there that night were nice and the small group I was with had a good natter with them.
Look deeper that the aged building and you will find lovely staff, lovely people and a clean place to stay.
Thank you.
