Wonderful local village pub. Friendly staff, nice welcoming atmosphere, and 3 great cask ales on. Didn't eat but plan to go back for the carvery.
Had a Great time at The Stainton Pub. We had a family members 90th Birthday lunch in there, Paula and the rest of the team were amazing providing our own Carvery and bringing drinks, tea and coffee around! Great setup and nothing was too much trouble! Fantastic!!
The Sunday carvery is amazing, the meat of beautifully moist and flavoursome, the vegetables are cooked to perfection, me and my wife will definitely be back
Nice tea rooms with simple homemade cakes in a balanced afternoon tea that wasn't too sweet. (Vegetarian friendly as well) Worth a visit
Staying locally, I was disappointed with the offering at my hotel so I ventured (less than a mile) to The Stainton after having read reviews whilst looking for somewhere else to dine.
The food was lovely, I indulged myself with the chilli and pepperoni topped Chicken Parmo - Wow! Not too spicy but rich and cheesy. Also a surprised myself by not falling for one of the lush desserts on offer as my main had sufficiently satisfied my hunger.
The service friendly, also met the chef and passed on my compliments.
Midweek, late and quiet hence the 3* for atmosphere, but given a busier environment/time of week, the rating would more than likely be higher.
Thank you, will visit again if in the area.
We had a beautiful lunch today here. The food was fresh and cooked to perfection.
I had the sirloin steak which was cooked exactly as I wanted it, another had the No chicken chicken on the vegan menu and it was delicious another the chicken parmo. Again perfectly cooked and not oily or greasy at all. All food served with fresh homemade chips salad or veg. Service was fantastic and nothing was too much trouble. Will definitely be going again very soon.
So pleased we went as heard it had shut down. Definitely a gem of a find!
Lovely bar waitress Sarah very nice.
My friend Jack recommended it so I went there
Lovely owners, and staff who treat you as friends. Truly great local experience, traditional pub, set in an historical 1800's building. They have a lovely outdoor area too for summer, and they are dog friendly. They have a pool table, and a juke box. It can get busy on weekends and can be a bit loud inside, especially with karaoke evenings. They have an attached restaurant too, with great food, and a fireplace, I love a fireplace. Best to book, but they do accommodate walk-ins. There is limited but free parking at the venue, but there are also local bus/taxi services. Pub closes at 11:30pm Sunday to Thursday, and 12:30am on Fri and Sat nights.
Fabulous food, husband said best hotshot parmo he’d had. Service with a smile too, didn’t get the waitress name but she was fun, couldn’t ask for more. We will be back 😂
Really friendly atmosphere and the service was first class. The carvery was incredible and the cauliflower cheese is out of this world!
First time for the Sunday carvery and won't be the last. Lovely pub, staff and food was delicious 😋
Lovely afternoon tea to start the celebrations for my 60th Birthday. Staff were all very friendly and very attentive. Hope to go back for Sunday lunch soon. Thank you. Xx

The meal although this was my 1st and last parmo was fresh hot and cooked to perfection just not a dish thas for me, it was well presented and arrived promptly. Land lady sat next to us and pleasantly chatted and also took the time to say goodbye when she left .....5 stars isn't enough. Can not wait to go back again. The place is so full of character you just want to go
A nice Sunday lunch carvery with few pints of Wainwright ale. Well worth a visit. Thank you 😊.
We were actually having a meal at the village kitchen bit disappointed not as good a standard as last time we were in got the same starter king prawns greasy not as lightly battered. Chicken and chorizo pasta nothing like what was said on menu was literally solid stoge. Pepperoni pizza a bit of a 😮 surprise, hunters Chicken lovely and so was classic parmo, staff lovely especially George the newby he was lovely
