Just had 2 nights stay here over the New Year weekend 23/24.
Brilliant.
The Hotel is excellent and the head chef Ken and his kitchen team knock out not only the best breakfast iv ever had but his menu at lunch and Evening is fantastic.
Brilliant food.
The staff at the hotel are so friendly and helpful.

I have just returned home from a two night stay at this location, and even as a solo business traveller, I could not recommend this place enough. The staff were very friendly, the food was exceptional, the room was clean and homely, and the atmosphere was wonderful.
It gave me warm vibes of being in a classic community pub, and were I not having to have spent so much of the evenings working, I would have loved to have spent more time than I was able to in the bar area.
Unfortunately I was unable to spend any time exploring the surroundings, however from what I did see during my trips in and out of the area, I would be very happy spending a long weekend here to explore the area.
My only possible negative would be the poor WiFi signal in my room, but were I not travelling on business, I'd see this as a positive.
Thank you for such a lovely stay, and I hope to revisit in the future on a personal adventure so I can enjoy the area properly!
We called in around 2pm for a drink and suss out the menu. Evening food was served from 6pm to 8pm.
We went back in just before 6pm and ordered a pint of Thekston's and a pot of Yorkshire tea. We then had another drink and ordered some food. I had chilli con carne and the wife had mushroom stroganoff which and both was very nice.
The pub is dog friendly and ours just lay under the table while were in there. The staff was pleasant.
We stayed the night here while cycling through.
The welcome we recieved from all was amazing, our bikes were stored securely and the food was amazing.
We will definately be back.

Rustic old school pub in the middle of the township of Middleham. Three hand pumps on including ales from Black Sheep Brewery, Theakstons and a Wensleydale, so all very local. Outside seating including on front so you can watch the world go by. Several other places to have a drink too so you can have a bit of a crawl. It does offer rooms and serves hot food. Dog friendly. Nice little pub π» π
Lovely country pub, nice people, lovely food, enjoyed the atmosphere, had Yorkshire pudding filled with beef, mashed potato, peas, and gravy, worth a visit π
Great place to stay. Rooms are cozy but comfortable. Bar was very welcoming. Food was fabulous. Friendly staff were the icing on the cake. Weβll be back.
Cannot fault the food .Best I've had in a pub for a very long time .should be landlady of the year service very good .chef can cook best steaks ever .along with everything else. Hope to see you again soon .
Service was fantastic host was excellent food was brilliant too.
Booked for steak night for two people... when we arrived (on time) they only had one steak left! Annoying. Had a good meal nevertheless and the rhubarb crumble is fantastic.
Meal was decent pub food at a fair price. Service a bit slow, but they seemed to be short staffed, but would go again. Loads of horse racing memorabilia.

We stayed here for 3 nights in "The Castle Room" to attend the Richard III festival at Middleham castle. We absolutely loved every minute of our stay here. The room was at the top of a very historic building and well appointed, comfortable and roomy. The ONLY downside of THIS particular room is no shower, only a freestanding bath in the room so if you like showers and are NOT a couple, and prefer privacy whilst bathing, ask for a different room as the other rooms have showers. No problem for me as I love baths but my hubby loves showers so he was not quite so enthusiastic about the set up as I was π
. The staff are amazing, so friendly and hospitable. Sharon, the owner is a hoot and our first night there we had quite a few drinks (possibly too many π
) with her and some of the locals who came in. We thoroughly enjoyed our 3 nights in this lively little pub and thoroughly recommend it as a great place to stay in Middleham. Sharon's staff are wonderful and we felt welcomed and accepted from the moment we walked through the front door. Our 3 night stay at this beautiful historic village pub will always be a standout memory for us as we had so much fun here. Thanks to Sharon and all her wonderful staff for making a couple of Australians feel so welcomed and we definitely hope to be back again one day.
This is a nice homely pub with a menu of traditional pub fayre. Husband had Ham, Egg and Chips, I had Masham sausages with cheesy mash, gravy and peas. The sausages were lovely and the food was nice and hot.
Recently when we were in the area we sat outside and had coffee one morning, the coffee was very good.
Toilets are upstairs.
Ample parking in the square and around the village.
Staying in Middleham, good selection of local ales. Good food served promptly with attentive staff.
A good solid pub that does food...and rooms...but the magic of this place is of the racing memorabilia and connections with Middleham racing community. Friendly staff, a good range of ales ( including Theakstons Old Peculiar served from the wood) staff were very friendly as were the eclectic blend of locals and visitors to the pub, an excellent place for a good pint, great conversation and people watching ! We will be back regularly as a result !
Sharon and the team always make us feel welcome. Sam's mom cooks the most beautiful breakfast. The room was really clean and comfortable and the locals really friendly. Would recommend to anyone to stay there. See you again soon Frank and Denise (josh mom and dad).
Just had a lovely 2 night break. Staying in room 8, the castle room. Rooms were modern and clean. Staff were lovely and friendly, always asking about our day and giving recommendations of things to do. Food was fantastic! Very homely pub atmosphere would definitely visit again.
