Fantastic meal out with family. Visited and had the lunch time menu, was excellent value. Β£15.95 for 3 courses. The lasagne I had for main was hands down the best lasagne I have ever had, cooked and seasoned to perfection. Brownies for dessert was heavenly. Adam who served us was outstanding, helpful, friendly and attentive. Would definitely recommend visiting for lunch.

There is a very good reason why I say this is one of my favourites and that is because this place never disappoints, they always come up with new dishes to keep it exciting π
As you will expect we were absolutely stuffed by the time we finished our meals, as what you see is what you get and yes the meals really are that big. Most importantly though they taste as good as they look too!
The Tikka Naan was absolutely stacked with chicken tikka curry, this combined with the mint sauce was lush. The naan bread was lovely too although we did not eat much of it as we had to get through the mountain of meat π
The main attraction though was definitely the new Salt & Pepper Chilli Burger, this was just insane. This was a monster of a meal and Salt & Pepper chilli lovers dream. Not only do you get a giant burger but even extra salt and pepper strips too. Let's just say it was ridiculously tasty!
I honestly cannot recommend this place enough π

Absolutely lovely place and delightful staff. I didn't know what to expect in terms of the inside, but it had this antique chique vibe that worked so well within. All the chairs were different and it oozed character.
I had the halloumi fries, with Salt & pepper chilli chicken, my partner had prawns and bbq chicken. Food was stunning!
However...I do have some criticisms, and considered 4/5 stars. But went with 5/5 because I just feel it would be an in justice.
So:
- forks: they felt so cheap, and I could almost bend mine and my partners fork. I just feel as 'fine dining' it just needs some better forks. Sounds silly, but gave me this 'cheap' feelings.
- salt & pepper chilli chicken: umm okay, so it was super tasty, super lovely. However, it had a bbq back taste? I didn't taste the chilli, or anything but that kinda odd bbq taste. I wanted something with a little more of a kick. But, it was tasty, and even tho there is a critism, it doesn't take away from the taste.
- bbq chicken: it was quite dry, once again tasty but had a dryness to it.
I think due to the food being so tasty, regardless it can't warrant a lesser star.
Me and my partner felt both dishes needed a more drizzle of sauce as standard. So a sweet chilli sauce over the chips. And a bbq sauce over the chips for the bbq chicken. Kind of give the chios more flavour. The bbq chicken, needed to be covered in sauce more in general. But the chips need that complimentary sauce over them as part of the dish maybe?
Outside was beautiful, inside was gorgeous, staff incredibly polite.
Don't take my criticisms as anything but ideas, because everything was delicious.

We had a fantastic meal here tonight! Food was out of this world.. my steak cut like butter and was cooked to perfection! The staff made us feel like royalty, they couldnβt do enough for usβ¦ definitely worth a visit if you love good food! Thank you βThe Mineβ
If you have been here previously before and was left disappointed (I would of have the 1 βοΈ before) but management have really turned the place around so please book back and try again!
Been 3 times last couple weeks after finding out about it and can only say wonderful food and prices will be going again soon.
Finally got to The Mine after weeks of us eying up the food for our first anniversary together. The food was incredible and we both thoroughly enjoyed it, we couldn't eat it all but we were kindly provided with takeaway boxes, we can't wait to finish it this afternoon π. The service by all staff members was super, the manager was friendly and welcoming, the three young ladies attending us at different points were great and the young lad bringing us the food was very polite and friendly. We obviously didn't meet the chef, but the food was fantastic and speaks for itself. Great atmosphere and very pleasant experience all round, so 11/10 for everything. We will definitely return, thank you for making our special day, and it was a highlight of our weekend βΊοΈππ
Where do I start. My girlfriend organised a surprise party here for me and all our family (39 of us including 11 children under 8). The food was superb. All 39 covers came out together and no one was left waiting, a massive accomplishment in itself. The staff waiting on us were the best I've ever had, and we eat out a lot. Nothing was too much. Would I recommend? Definitely. Will I be going back? 100%. Thank you for a great night and well done to you all.
I went there with my whole family of 10 for my birthday meal/engagement party. All the staff were amazing and made sure my elderly nan who is in a wheelchair was comfortable and was eventually happy with her meal! (Sorry again it was her not the food!) The rest of my family loved the food and the portion size! We paid Β£10 deposit so that was taken off the bill at the end which was great. Overall lovely experience and I will definitely be coming again in the future. Big shout out to the lovely ladies who were serving us even though we were a pain! Chloe, Eva, Tia ,Tilly and Erin!!! Fab work girls :) I had the salt and chilli chicken which was to die for! And my fiance had the breast of heaven burger, which he enjoyed too.

The food was good, although it could have been hotter. I do think it was overpriced. If I am paying Β£16 for a lasagne, I expect it to be exceptional. The staff were great, and the place itself was nice. Not sure I would go again, there are better places to eat in Merthyr.
Food was amazing, staff were welcoming and friendly. The only downside is the the table for two by the toilet when people go up to pay you can feel quite crowded (this could have been a one off). Would definitely return and looking forward to trying out other things in the menu π

We came across this restaurant on Saturday early evening. It was busy but we were lucky to get a table. The staff were friendly and welcoming. Nice atmosphere and delicious food.
My partner booked here for my 30th Birthday, after hearing so many good reviews we were excited to try for ourselves. We arrived and shown to our table which was near a door and as a cold person asked if there was an alternative table. Staff were very polite and accommodating and nothing was too much. I ordered the salt & chilli naan dish which was absolutely stunning. really good portion size and the flavours were outstanding. My partner went for the Sirloin steak and said it was absolutely gorgeous. cooked to perfection and even the sides were really tasty. All in all a very enjoyable visit to The Mine and we will be returning, hopefully very soon.
Absolutely beautiful restaurant. Clean and welcoming, welcomed by a polite young lady called Darcie who showed us to our seats. We were in a large group, we visited for a family birthday celebration and food was amazing (salt & pepper chicken WOW). But most of all the service by the staff was 5*. We were served mainly by a young lad called Rio, he couldnt do enough for us, so polite and efficient. Another lovely girl also served us called Beatriz and she was awesome also , checked everything and an excellent manner. Definitely will come back highly recommend visiting.
This place does a bit of everything. Disappointed by the price of the Italian dishes, just no need to be that expensive. The upside down curry really didn't need both chips and rice, carb overload! Fillet steak was good but not enough chips with it.
