Great cheap pub, good cask ales, decent food. Super reliable for a meal and a pint, never disappointing. I wish these existed in America. If you go on the curry club day the naga chili chicken tika is actually quite spicy which I was not expecting after being disappointed by the level of spice I had gotten at other establishments in the UK.
It's a wetherspoons, and generally the're all good venues. This is no different. Good central location. Cavernous interior with plenty of places to sit. Usual selection of good beer, not too expensive, and a large menu. Toilets were clean. Service was a little slow, they lost my food order, and in all honesty the food was extremely average. But, if I'm in Merthyr again, I would be happy to meet for a pint here.
Great venue, clean with for provisions for social distancing. Take service worked well, food arrived quickly and we got with a good size portion. Friendly and helpful staff providing a fast and efficient service. The Gents to was very clean and maintained to a high standard. I only dropped a star as there was no mayonnaise and my spicy near feat pizza came without rocket, other than that everything was very good. I'd certainly recommend stopping here for food and drink when in the area.
Excellent lunch. I visited alone but felt completely comfortable. The atmosphere was welcoming and peaceful, a relaxing place for an older woman to take herself off to lunch when she lives by herself. I ordered the scamp and chips which were delicious - as was the coffee. I even ordered a dessert which is unusual for me: bread and butter pudding with custard.
It tasted homemade although I know it wasn't. However, it was absolutely delicious. Full marks to Y Dic Penderyn in Merthyr Tydfil.
True to its heritage, Y Dic Penderyn offered a truly Welsh options' menu which was well thought out.
For other diners, you can choose from a Vegan/Vegetarian menu, a gluten free menu, as well as a choice of other menus - as shown in one of my photos. Truly, all customers' tastes catered for.
The Wetherspoon Y Dic Penderyn at Merthyr is a good place for breakfast, lunch, dinner or just for drinks. We had our breakfast and the other day, we went there for dinner.
We ordered the standard English breakfast with Hash Brown, Toast, Fried eggs, Bacon, Sausage & Beans...and were satisfied.
The other day, we ordered a pizza and fried king prawns. While pizza was okay (nothing special), I especially love the king prawns at Wetherspoon. The service is nice and more importantly, prices are reasonable.
Good pancakes, unlimited coffee, and open when I needed it at 08:30 on a Sunday.
We only popped in for drinks, we had to wait a while to be served, but staff were polite. A member of staff came over to wipe our table, which was impressive 😀
Good food. They also have menu with traditional wales food and drink. Quick service. Clean place and friendly staff members.
They also serve breakfast until 12:00 and free tea/ coffee refill.
Hight variety of food
As Wetherspoons goes, this is one of the much better ones. Food is good, service is ok, as 2ith any of them it can get noisy and slower at busy times, but that's to be expected.
All in all a good place.
excellent customer service which included very fast and efficient service, the food arrived fresh and hot and the drinks were cold, staff also made sure the table was clean and tidy.
Food was very delicious. But the top gun was Christos. He made our dinner like at friends house. Very nice, friendly, charming, funny and perfect person for such a kind of business. You definitely want to come back to this place :)
