Highly recommend, traditional Portuguese food the service is excellent and the owner Fernando when above and beyond to meet expectations, for sure recommend and will return many times, thank you portugalles
I'm a regular visitor - have been since its opened. I've never had a bad experience here. The food is delicious and excellent value. Staff are friendly and attentive without being fawning. I'd highly recommend.
I had dinner and then breakfast the next day. Both meals were delicious! The place is small, comfortable and welcoming. The menu had many variations of traditional Tapas and the staff were warm and accommodating. Go if you get a chance.

I come to Merthyr once a year for the Rising Festival and Portugalles is a must for me especially as I love fish. Great food and great staff.

We had a great night and loved all the dishes ordered: fish, chicken and clams. Generous portions and complementary bread, olives and pate. Relaxed, informal atmosphere, friendly staff and good music. Thank you, we will be back !!!
First time last night at Portugalles , fantastic food, a great atmosphere and welcoming staff.. We were all so impressed we've booked our Christmas party here and it's only July !
Mostly went there to see live music performed by Fil Z. Which was great as usual. Was pleasantly surprised by the the standard of the meal. Hand made real chips and piri piri chicken cooked to perfection. Service staff were polite and helpful. Can’t fault it. Had a lovely evening.

Came in for a few drinks early Saturday evening always greeted well by nice staff and the owner and had some stunning pickie food which was very nice indeed and very reasonable prices will be back again soon

Amazing, authentic Portuguese dishes, made fresh. Real fries, not from frozen! You have to taste them. Nothing like the frozen ones!

This place is so full of love. We took our chance on a quiet bank holiday evening when not much else were open. The food here is delicious, very much homemade-kind rather than any chain-made standard food. The owner/chef and waitresses are very friendly and will make sure you are well served. Their coffee and desserts are delicious too. Would love to come back again, even on a busier occasion! 🌟
First time visit. Was a group for a birthday. Lovely little venue. Order dbthe steak for main and it was really tasty. Was served with a big sharing bowl of salad, sharing tray of chips, and sharing bowl of rice. Staff were very friendly, attentive and helpful. Excellent value for money. I would definitely return, and would recommend.

It was my wife's birthday, we took a cake and asked the lady serving us if she could bring the cake out after our meal which she kindly agreed to do.
What happened was beyond all expectations!!
The chef (who, I believe was the owner too) added freshly cut strawberries to our cake, and a candle of his own, as well as the firework candle we brought.
Without going into all the details, they made the evening into a very special and memorable experience for all of us!!!!

Absolutely Amazing night in here . One of the best meals we have ever had. The peri peri chicken was wonderful as were the clams ,the Chef and staff looked after us better than anywhere we have been the chef made us up a little pot of hot sauce to complete the meal ,lovely background music playing. I can't recommend this place enough. an hour after we left as we were walking back to our camper the chef shouted us in for a complementary liquor.

Love this place. The owner is so accommodating and welcoming. Great food. Great atmosphere. Good props (hats, drums, etc.). The only issue on our last visit was that only the owner was on duty, meaning he had to do EVERYTHING. It just meant service was slow, but it didn't matter as we were having such a good time.
Good atmosphere, landlord is very friendly and bubbly. Food is good although on the day of our visit technical issues restricted choice.
Great place and atmosphere, the chef Fernando worth the trip by himself, great service too, delicious food at a very reasonable price. Highly recommended.

EVERYONE gets treated like a VIP,big variety of dishes,love the( Bifana)=,(pork loin sandwich) 😉👌,also they mixed grill skewers are lush,very good people,on friday you better pre book a table,has they are very busy most of the times
Fabulous, tasty food at brilliant prices with lovely, welcoming atmosphere. Marvellous staff and Fernando extremely attentive & generous & nothing was too much trouble for our birthday party. Entertainment very much enjoyable. Wonderful time had by all. Everything you could possibly want in one place. Definitely worthwhile visiting and will definitely be going again!!

A small spot, with amazing food, a place where you can find a Portuguese taste. Nice drinks, nice decoration with a friendly decoration. Nice prices.
Good fresh food, generous portions ad very good value for money. We were served by Catherine who was friendly and helpful. We saw a photo of a burning sausage which we wanted to try and although it wasn't on the menu, we could have it. Our food arrived at table in a good time and it was served by the chef himself. Great experience.

If you’re looking for somewhere to eat in Meythr and fancy eating good food in a welcoming surrounding stop looking and come here. I really liked the rustic Portuguese themed restaurant, it’s simple but works for me. The menu is limited but I really like that too as the owner, who is Portuguese, does what he does very well. You simply have to end with an espresso and home made pastéis de nata, you’ll be instantly addicted.
I will definitely be coming back here next time I’m in the area.
