Had a lovely meal last night. Beautiful fish cake starter. Turkey dinner. I'm assertive so asked for a plate of veg rather than share the small portion with another and it was happily brought to us. Brulee to finish. Very good meal and service. Great ambience.
I’m the kind of girl who asks for a dessert menu before ordering a main meal..the white chocolate, milk chocolate and salted caramel cheesecake is the best dessert I’ve ever eaten �

Visited 31.7.18 at 6pm. The food was cooked to perfection. I couldn't fault it at all and I'm fussy. Compliments to the chef! A really good choice on the menu. The toffee and apple cobbler was just delectable! Can't wait to eat there again.
Had a lovely lunch for my Dad's 94th birthday. The three of us had very different meals but we were all very happy with our choices. Dad said his salmon was "perfect". Lovely atmosphere and it was a treat to take our coffee outside and admire the view.

5 of us dined here for the 1st time last night for a family birthday meal and it was excellent. Great food, great drinks and great service. I had the garlic mushrooms and paella, both were delicious. Will definitely be returning.
An early Christmas dinner for us, one of the family is working Christmas Day & Boxing Day - Pan-fried scallops just melt in your mouth, all had local roast turkey with all the trimmings with ample veg for all of us. It has to be Christmas pudd, which is really very very nice, a white choc & orange cheesecake and superb cheese board followed by coffee and mints. Truly lovely food and always well presented, attentive staff without being over the top, and nothing is to much trouble. We'll be back soon for sure!

Fantastic!!. Despite the complaints i have read on here i cannot fault the service or the food. myself and 12 friends 3 with under 2 year olds arrived on the off chance for a spot of lunch. The staff were attentive and adhered to all our needs. The food didnt take long to arrive roughly 15 minutes which i think was fantastic due to the number of us there and also the fact the retaurant had quite a few tables in eating already.
there was one or two things on the menu that wasnt available but was understandable and we were kindly offered an alternative which was just as delicious!
We were informed that on our next visit we could re-order the meals which we would like which makes perfect sense for a big group. So note to all in a group of 6 or more pre-order that way you cant be disappointed as they will have what it is you desire.

Lovely venue although the food can be hit and miss, the service is good although last time I went you had to pay at the till which I find odd, more what you would expect from a cafe
Lovely dining environment but when I went the service was quite slow although once the food arrived it was very good
The place itself is beautiful and the views are amazing. The children's food are good size portions but the pizza look like them microwave pizzas. The Sunday roast was nice I got the trio some of the meat were very fatty. Best bit for me was the cheesecake that was lovely. Service was great. Not bad priced. Wish I would have tried the pie though

We have recently had the pleasure of celebrating our wedding day by holding the daytime and evening receptions at the Spread Eagle at Mellor on Friday 28th July 2023.
Rachael, the manager at the Spread Eagle, was instrumental in making sure that both the day and evening celebrations were a resounding success and an amazing day that we and all of our guests throughout the day and evening will remember forever.
The help, advice, suggestions and enthusiasm that she showed throughout the planning of the day was just fantastic, which resulted in a day and evening that simply could not have gone any better, the food was superb, the surroundings were beautifully set out and decorated and the service was impeccable, with every member of the staff working so hard throughout the day to make it a day to remember.
For anyone thinking of holding a celebration of any description, I would highly recommend that, just as we did, you call in at the Spread Eagle and talk to Rachael in person, her help and “Can do” attitude is a pleasure to work with and something I’m sure, like us, would result in you having a celebration that will long be remembered by all.

Another fantastic meal! The service and hospitality at The Spread Eagle is unmatched in this area. There is nowhere else I would go for a special occasion.

Decided to visit for vegan breakfast on a very wet Sunday morning, the venue itself is lovely and cosy and there were quite a few diners in when we got there. The vegan breakfast was delicious, I swapped the beans for avocado and also had an alcohol free Freixenet and a pot of Earl Grey. Staff were very friendly, helpful and service was just perfect. My only gripe is why the vegan breakfast is the same price as the full English which has potato rosti, black pudding and whatever eggs you want in addition to the items on the vegan breakfast. Some hash browns, vegan black pudding and smashed avocado could be added as standard. However it was nice and I will be back, I have actually contacted Greene King about the pricing and interested to hear their comments.

Visited on a Thursday night and ate off the two or three course reasonably priced menu. Pate starter was lovely and a good size portion. Main course was steak and ale pie and mash which tasted good and was a good size pie. Sticky toffee pudding for dessert was a nice end to the meal. Lovely surroundings and friendly staff too
What a great place. Can't believe we haven't tried it before, only live a few miles away. We wanted to try somewhere we hadn't been before and my wife mentioned this place because she drives past a couple of times a week with her work and said lt looks lovely, so today we tried it. Lovely spotlessly clean place and the food was superb. I had the trio roast dinner, my wife had the slow cooked beef and we both loved it. Wasn't too pricey either. And the beer was good. Will definitely be back to try something else
Had a couple of days away in the Everything Cabins in the valley. We visited the Spread Eagle at Lunch time yesterday 25/10/23 & for Evening meal today. Both times the Food & Staff where amazing. Will definitely travel over again from Oldham for a Meal. 5☆

16/07/22. First visit under the new owners. Was a little wary as we loved the old place so much. We heard they had renovated so, as we thought the old decor was beautiful, we didn't know what to expect. We needn't have been concerned as the new decor is still as beautiful. It has been opened up a little more which makes it seem more airy. Our favourite server, Liam, is still there so we knew we were in safe hands. ❤️ 😃 I had the superfood salad with roasted chilli 🌶 squash . It was delicious. 😋 Others had chicken and steak burgers and scampi and chips. All mains were great. Desserts are just yummy. And a good idea for a small portion with a coffee. I had the small mocha tart and a coffee. We all enjoyed it and still be back very soon. 😉
08/01/22. Lovely lunch today but sad as it will be the last time with Lesley and Stuart as the owners. Food and service to the usual high standard. It's always been a pleasure. We've celebrated some wonderful family occasions with you. All the luck for the future and thank you so much from the 6 of us. ❤ 💙 💜
First time back for 18 months. Place looks amazing. Staff as brilliant as ever and the food delicious. Can't wait for next time.
We went to this restaurant and one of our party an elderly lady had a fall. The staff were wonderful. We had ordered for the table but we obviously didn't get the food. Our family member had to got to hospital the staff were awesome totally understood our situation thanks from the bottom of our hearts. The manager phoned my wife the day after to find out how our family member was. Thank you again the staff at this restaurant deserve a medal.
Just arrived home after celebrating our 45th wedding 💍💒🔐💒 anniversary at the Spread Eagle.
Food was EXCELLENT as was the service. Nice interlude between courses.
The reason for the average mark on atmosphere was because it was mid afternoon on a Saturday.

Visited for the first time last night and we were really impressed. A lovely setting and we really liked the decor inside. We were in a dining area with a spectacular view. The food was excellent - my wife enjoying fish and chips whilst I opted for a Sunday roast. We shared a dessert. Perhaps the highlight was the excellent service we received. There were plenty of staff working and they were all really good, attentive and really pleasant. We will certainly visit again and can safely say this was the best Chef and Brewer pub we have visited. Well done to all the staff.
Brilliant, modern, contemporary, ultra stylish building, felt like a new building and car park. Unparalleled views and scenery. Excellent food with, great staff. Not much else you could look for. It does get very busy, booking is almost essential. Highly recommended.
