Wonderful pub with beautiful views of the canal. Food was delicious. Staff bent over backwards to accommodate us. We came here twice during our week long canal boat holiday and both times were outstanding.

Lovely place to sit by the side of the Kennet and Avon canal with a drink and watch life float bye. Food looks good but can't comment as didn't have any.

Lovely pub on the canal. Tasty food with hearty portions. Service can be a bit slow when really busy on a sunny day, but, the surroundings mean why would you want to rush.

Wonderful food / Great taste and value. Idyllic location. Lovely service. You’d be daft not to try it. Today we had Sunday lunches. The fotos are from an earlier visit I made to The Barge Inn

Food was really good, and plenty of seating both indoors and out. It’s right on the canal so is a really pleasant spot tucked away. The menu is only small, made more limited by items which were out which was disappointing. It is dog friendly, and she was welcome there without fuss. Service was a little cold initially, but once dog and child showed they were quiet and content, this soon warmed up. Overall, a lovely spot and will definitely go back.

The Barge scores highly on all fronts, a lovely quiet location with views of passing barges while you sit and enjoy a drink or a meal in a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere under the huge riverbank willow tree if it’s sunny. It also has a large car park. I had the Haddock & Chips which was just the best and I also sampled a few of their large range of real ales which were a treat. I will be planning another visit in the not too distant future. Well done to all of the Barge team.

We both had the burger, and it was amazing! Not a scrap left. Chips were lovely and crunchy outside, fluffy in the middle. For deserts we had 1 cheesecake and 1 ice cream, also very tasty. Staff were welcoming, engaging and kept an eye on the table without being over the top. Sat outside alongside the canal on a beautiful day I would recommend this pub to anyone. We didn't have out dog with us (too hot) but they are very dog friendly here.

It's a great venue alongside a canal with lots of parking. There are plenty of tables inside and out to enjoy a drink/meal with friends and family. Service is excellent and always presented with a smile. The food was tasty and fresh. We've enjoyed a number of meals at this inn, especially around Christmas when log burning fires and decorations add to the overall atmosphere of this great British Inn.

Lovely countryside pub situated on the kennet and Avon canal. We were a table of 5 with a reservation and attended slightly earlier than our allotted time, this was not an issue as we were able to take our table immediately. As it was a Sunday we were only able to order from that days menu. The choices available were vast but yet as a Sunday roast is the norm, the choices were an adequate range. The starters ordered arrived in good time and served with a smile and courteous manner from the waiting staff. The ham hock was absolutely delicious, as to were the other dishes, the only let down was no halloumi fries. As you would expect a sufficient amount of time was afforded between starter and main, a team member even came to our table to inform us it was being prepared presently. Each main and side was presented by the staff with the same manner as the starters. Each dish was of pure quality and is testament to an attentive chef team. Each dish our party had was met with the English appreciation tone of yum and wow this taste amazing. Overall this is a fantastic pub which clearly has a top team, from the kitchen to the front of house. Our sincere compliments and gratitude to the chef team on the day, Sunday 5th November, for making such wonderful dishes and to the staff that attended our table. We will most definitely return, for the food and the atmosphere. Thank you all.

Such a good dining experience. The pie was superb, tender meat and great pastry. The gravy, served separately, tasted like unadulterated Bisto, though, which was disappointing. Good menu with great choices, including for vegetarians. Nice location by the canalside, with plenty of parking. Really friendly and courteous service. Delightful overall. I'll be back.

Had not been here for several years. Being next to the canal it’s very “touristy” and gets busy in the summer. Unfortunately our initial reception was not so good, it was as if they weren’t expecting us and were put out by us being there. However the whole experience was very good and we will be going back. Food was very good. Service was above average and friendly.

The service was fantastic, the menu had a lovely selection, and the food was ok, but didn’t blow us away. More veggies on the plate please. Check the temperature of the food and try not to overload with dish too many flavours that mean you can no longer taste the base of the meal itself. Probably wouldn’t rush back I’m afraid.

We’ve just had a lovely Sunday dinner by the canal on a balmy September afternoon. Lovely atmosphere with really helpful staff. The food was great and my Eton mess dessert WELL!!! Delicious!! Washed down with a couple of drinks. Good value for money too! 👍

We were celebrating our wedding anniversary and the pub had been recommended to us. The pub was beautiful inside and out , the flowers looked lovely , being right by the river with barges going up and down and mooring for lunch too was very atmospheric. The staff were friendly , smart and professional and the food was lovely too , although I asked for some chutney with my ploughman’s because it was a bit dry without. We will Defiantly go again .
