Popped in for a quick pint on the way home from Calke Abbey, and decided to return to following week for a carvery. Service is always top notch, and the staff are extremely polite and attentive. The carvery was good, however for the price I would have expected slightly larger portions. Nevertheless a good quality carvery, and potentially enough for a repeat visit at some point in the future. I’d definitely return to sit in the garden for a beer in the sun though.

Our first visit. Lovely old pub. The carvery was very popular, it seems. Good quality and quantity. Other mains were also of good quality. Desserts were varied and very reasonably priced.

First trip here for a Sunday carvery and it was very pleasant. Staff alert and attentive, food was hot, tasty and good value for money. Sticky toffee pudding was lovely to finish the meal off. Thank you all.

We went for a walk around the area and then called in for some light refreshments. I asked for a pint of JT, only to find out they no longer brew there. The food was ok, although the salad was rudimentary with no high quality ingredients. The young lady who served us was very pleasant and attentive. Would definitely recommend, especially on a warm sunny day or early evening, as the patio area is very nice

Nice pub with carvery on Wednesday. No cask ales or spectacular gins. Large car park and log cabins for overnight. Location is ideal for hiking local area of fishing. Landlord can be brittle but other staff are very friendly.

Visited Sunday with wife and our cocker spaniel. Fantastic service and an amazing carvery. Treats galore for our dog with lots of attention given and nothing too much trouble. Highly recommend.
