Visited the Kirkmichael Arms for a Hogmanay family meal and oh am I glad we did!
The restaurant itself is lovely and has a real Scottish homely feel, the staff are all friendly and happy to help and the food - absolutely to die for! Truly one of the best meals I have ever had.
Will definitely be returning to the area for the sole purpose of visiting the Kirkmichael Arms - and you should do the same! I promise you wont regret it.
We all really enjoyed dinner here. Everything was done just right. Note the beef lasagna is not in a tomato based sauce, it's beefier. Interesting desserts and a friendly helpful staff.
Came here after a big walk nearby. What a great place! The food menu surpassed my expectations for, as well as the great menu which I'd read online beforehand, they had loads of specials too. The service was very friendly and would totally recommend to anyone thinking of visiting.

If your anywhere in the area, you must visit.
A modern yet, traditional pub within a welcoming and friendly setting.
Excellent food that I would give full marks for. You can tell a good place when they take as much care with the quality and presentation of the children's food.
Although not something I would normally see I had a steak and sausages pie with mash and seasonal veg. My son had sausage and mash which also came with seasonal veg.
Now the important part.... The food was to die for usually I find that seasonal to be undercooked, but not here cooked to perfection. Real mash and most importantly a pie with a puff pastry top.
Finally was too full for a desert, which did look good but my son has a strawberry ice cream which came with a real strawberry and after a taste wasn't the usual cheap tat.
Finally, finally... Very well priced with a main meal being around 12.00 and a kids meal with ice cream for 6.00. Pint of haverlee (never heard of it, very good though) 4.00 and. Coke for 2.00.
If I lived in the area it would be my new place to go. I'm not a tip giver, but felt the need to with this one.

Absolutely one of the best places to have a drink and a meal! Best fish I've ever tasted, not to mention they allowed oue 10month of Belgian Malinois x German shepherd in for his first pub visit! Couldn't be happier with the service and such friendly staff and locals! 100% reccomend for anyone wanting a well priced meal especially if you have a pupper!
Got us in at short notice. Restaurant side was very busy and we had a small dog with us so sat in the bar area. Good to get a pint of real ale in Scotland and it didn’t disappoint. Very well kept. The food was excellent. Very tasty. Would definitely return if in the area.
We are on holiday at Brunston Castle Leisure Complex & they had a menu in our introduction pack. We went there on a Sunday lunchtime & on a Monday evening because the food is excellent. The staff we spoke to were really friendly & happy to chat. On the Sun my partner had lasagne & said it was 10/10 - the best lasagne he has ever tasted. I had the chicken kiev, on the menu it said it came with savoy cabbage. It came with a roast potato & veg. I didn't realise that it was sat on potato mash so I ordered a side of chips - I still managed to eat them. On the Mon night I had sea bass - it was delicious & could have easily eaten another afterwards because it was so tasty. My partner had fish n chips whichbhe was very nice but the fish could have been a bit bigger. They offer plenty of specials of differing prices. Both of our meals were over £10 each which is about the same everywhere else we have eaten. We would definitely recommend you try it.
Visited from Glasgow Friday 27th May 2022, we were staying in the village. We sat in the bar as we had the pooch with us. We selected dishes from the specials board. The food was delicious, even down to the salad dressing for my Langoustine Scampi. Well done Chef! Everyone in our party was impressed and very satisfied. Great value for money. We'll be back!
