Big smiles from the staff, who love what they do. A great menu with a hint of France mixed into traditional & beyond. Wonderful bar snack & sandwiches. All that complement the fanatic ales, wines & spirits. Plus high tea & the most delicious Bakewell Puddings. Board game to pass the time in the rain & cold seasons & a delightfully open dinning room to enjoy sunshine in the summer. A must visit in #Matlock

We called in here mid week, just by chance. The food was exceptionaly good, better than yr average pub food. I had, the beef bourgogne, which was cook to perfection, it was roasts or boiled potatoes, I'm not really. Keen on either, I said I prefer mash, so would it be possible to have a jacket, she came back & said the chef, would do me mash, how amazing, was that, there was there was three veg on my plate, then they brought out more veg in a dish. Hubby had home made steak pie with veg, & boiled potatoes, which was also delicious. Huge portions, not over priced, plus the people. In there were really friendly. Extensive menu to choose from, just a pub. Well worth a visit. We will definitely be back again. Pubs like these are hard too find. . Try it you will not be disappointed. .

Went into Matlock with my dog and got refused from lots of places, but went in and asked if dogs were allowed and a warm welcome was given. Wasn't somewhere I'd of thought to go as looked a bit posh, but the staff were so friendly and very welcoming. Being on my own they made me and pooch feel welcome. Food was lovely and very well cooked, the orange, walnut and maple sponge was OMG!!!! I'd of happily eaten 10 more servings. Would definitely go back and would recommend it to anyone with a pooch!

Brilliant lunch at this place. The best barmaid ever. Massive bowls of tasty goodness - Chicken & molten Stilton, more sausages than I thought it was possible for someone to eat, black pudding, cheesy corned beef hash, yummy yum! Nice beer too.

Just finished the BEST Pub Sunday lunch we've ever had. Beef was gorgeous, veg perfectly cooked and potatoes crispy with no hint of oil, gravy was tasty. Nom nom nom. Chocolate brownie was to die for and everything was presented beautifully. Staff are polite, friendly and attentive. We're only here for the day and have already decided if we visit again we'd definitely come back here. The pub has a lovely vibe too. A combination not easy to achieve- congratulations guys, great place

Having strolled around Matlock we just dropped into the Remarkable Hare for a light lunch - the beef baguette and pork baguette with a lovely pot of tea for two was just right - however the pork baguette proved too much so for the first time in many years we had to revert to a doggie bag - excellent little snack for later on - highly recommend and the service was great and a very relaxing atmosphere and a very well stocked bar - including Brooklyn gin

Doesn't look massively inviting from outside, but after reading reviews though we'd give it a try. Must say, we were very impressed. Tuesday evening, quite busy but got a table straight away for two plus 1 doggy. Good selection of beers/lagers on tap. Menu had too much to think about and the sight of the meals being taken past us from the kitchen only confirmed we had come to a good pub. Portion sizes are quite big, so be prepared. I had one of the best pies I've ever eaten, with chicken, mushroom and lots of tarragon, served with veg, mash and gorgeous thick gravy. Lots of different choices on the menu to choose from and everything we saw looked amazing with many people overheard saying how good their meal was. Highly, highly recommend, plus they allow dogs and provide, water bowls, blankets and treats😊 Loved it, ten stars⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

We stopped here for lunch, superb restaurant, The staff were friendly. Brilliant choice of food and drinks. We see some of the meals that went out and they looked amazing!! We ordered two pizza's, not only was they massive they was soooo tasty. I highly recommend a visit here, the only negative from us is that we waited 45 minutes for our meal and they brought our accompanying side dish 5 minutes before the main meal ~ however, it didn't subtract our lovely time there.

The food here was absolutely amazing. It tasted amazing and the portions were so big. Worth every penny. I'd definitely come back again to try the other dishes. We had the mint lamb gyros (£16), cajun chicken gyros (£16) and duck spring rolls (£7). They all tasted epic. We came on a bank holiday Monday and the place was packed. And we had to wait 45 minutes for our food, but the food tasted that good that I have to say that it was worth the wait. The place is also dog friendly - bonus!

Reservation for Sunday lunch recommended, very busy. Food is delicious with a few hiccups, the pork crackling is very hard and not grilled properly so it looked good but we wouldn't risk breaking our teeth. I ordered the 'all in one' portion which is supposed to be one of each meat but missing roast lamb, the waitress was very friendly and brought a plate of lamb but it would have been nice if the manager came to explain as they said they would, it was also missing some of the sides, for example no roast potatoes or stuffing, but as the manager didn't even come over, I decided not to say anymore as I'm not one to complain. My friend shared her portion so I had a taste of them, but they were missing from mine nonetheless, so I would say it didn't worth the £35 price tag. I like the huge Yorkshire pudding with parsnip chips and tasty gravy, the vegs are properly sautéed not just boiled, a nice touch. Waiter & waitresses are very friendly but lack knowledge of the menu. There are other nice places for food in Matlock so won't be rushing back very soon.

Portion sizes were large and the quality of the food was incredible. Service was quick and friendly. Had a wide selection on menu from pizzas, sandwiches, tapas and more. The 'dirty dog' had fresh and local pulled pork which melted in your mouth. Lots of options for vegetarians, notes that meals could be made gluten free, they seems to care a lot about quality and inclusivity. Would definitely go back again.

Visited on a Sunday evening. Busy place. Good selection of drinks. Great atmosphere (had live music). Only had tapas and pizza on the menu but even so the food was excellent.

A brilliant pub which looks and feels so much better on the inside than it looks like from the outside. We shared a couple of pizzas and 3 sides between the 4 of us and everything came out close together and was all delicious. Would definitely go again if we are in the area. No sign of any board games others have mentioned unfortunately but didn't affect the meal, just thought I'd mention.

What a fantastic experience we have just had at the Remarkable Hare. Staff could not have been more attentive from the chef, waiting and bar staff. Food was delicious and great range of choice for drinks. Dog friendly and made to feel very welcome. 5 stars well deserved, shame we couldn't leave a tip on card as most people pay this way these days!!

Great food here! Lovely decor and staff friendly and efficient. My only disappointment is that when I went the second time, the chips were different and I was so looking forward to those chips, they were the best 😂
