Definitely a very dog friendly pub, Bobby dog had a warm welcome and a treat before we were served. We both went for the Homity Pie which was recommended to us, I had peas and chips while Gerry had chips and salad. The meal was very filling and feel that it would be better with seasonal vegetables instead of chips as the pie had potato in the filling. A very pleasant and friendly pub, will definitely go there again.

Came in for lunch with a group of 9 including children. They said they were short staffed but the food was lovely and served in good time and the staff were very friendly worth the walk up the hill

We visited twice last week whilst on holiday in a cottage just around the corner. A very warm and friendly welcome, followed by a selection of good beers and rounded off with some excellent traditional food. We will return in the future and would thoroughly recommend it.

Stellar spot in Matlock for home-cooked vittles and finely drawn ales. True Northern British hospitality, they welcomed in my little American family with warmth, making us feel right at home. Everything a pub, inn, & restaurant could aspire to; I was proud of the chance to show my girls the finer points of British pub-culture with this cozy den! Andrew proved attentive and charming as he secured us dining and drafts even at an hour well past the kitchen’s retirement. Can’t say enough about this place. If you’re in Matlock, join the locals for pints, grub, & laughs forgetting your troubles for a time among the beautiful rolling hills of the district!

Beautiful 16th century coaching inn, very comfy. pleasant and spacious beer garden, too. We did not eat but I suspect that it will be good food since everything else is a 5 star service. staff are very friendly and helpful plus the price of drinks is very reasonable highly recommended .....and we will be going back (hopefully for some food, too!!) Dog friendly as well....what more could you want!!!

Today we visited this wonderful Inn. The welcome we received after a 3.5 hour drive was extremely friendly and nothing was too much. The Sunday lunch, was one of the best lunches we had ever eaten. This is a jewel in the crown of the beautiful town of Matlock.

Simple, traditional pub. No frills, but good atmosphere, very friendly staff, good beers and delicious food (the steak & ale pie, in particular, was stand out). Totally recommended and will definitely revisit next time we're in Matlock.

Quaint local pub with delicious Sunday roasts. Further away from the town so it was not so busy when we went. Very welcoming and very nice food.

Had a really delicious home cooked meal with friends here whilst in Matlock for the weekend. Very welcoming and attentive owners and staff, couldn't do enough for us, and made us feel right at home. We all had excellent meals, in very generous portions and at a reasonable cost. A great selection of beers to go with the food as well. I'd highly recommend you drop by.
