Visited before watching the Matlock illuminations, considering the fish bar was full there wasn’t a queue and we were served very efficiently. One lady took the order and another served the food. As soon as we had paid for the food, it was there waiting for us. The food was piping hot and fish batter was lovely and crisp. The chips were very well cooked too and not at all greasy. We put our own salt and vinegar on. One thing I could say was the large chips was only enough for 2 people. Maybe it could be a larger portion ? All in all a very pleasant visit.

The food was really nice but, the tables weren't very clean, although they were busy. We had to ask for serviettes as they didn't give them to us. As a restaurant they could offer a knife and fork, as a 1 plastic fork isn't adequate to eat a big fish with. Its a bit expensive. If had we walked a bit further on, we would have got fish and chips a lot cheaper and a knife a fork to eat with.

Gluten free, yay! Fish and chips went down easily but not the best I've had (greasy chips no flavour). I'm glad the cashier automatically charged us for large because portions run small. Busy (and dated interior) which is usually a good sign.

Lovely situated fish shop on the river, serving hot and fresh food. The fish, chips, nuggets, peas and gravy were all tasty and a nice treat after a stroll down the High Street. Competitively priced.

Every time we visit Matlock Bath we have our fish and chips here. Food served very fast, and good quality too. However they didn't have any plastic knives to go with the forks! April 2023 update: came here on a Wednesday afternoon, very quiet which was nice. This time the food was served on proper plates with cutlery!

I went here on a warm Saturday with my family, what I liked most about this fish bar was the quick output even when busy. The fish was delicious and a healthy portion size for each one we bought. I would definitely recommend, I'd say it's my favourite place to go in Matlock.

What a lovely clean and friendly place. You can eat in on plates or sit outside with takeaway cartons either way your order is freshly cooked and brought to your table. Very traditional chip shop menu and very good value for money. The food was tasty, hot and filling . Fed five adults and one child for a little over thirty quid, four drinks included in that order too!

Absolutely beautiful place and food. It was busy but it's got plenty of seating indoors and outdoors, The staff are all friendly and really good priced. Just beware not a lot of parking on sunny days.
