This was our 3rd visit to Hodgkinsons hotel and we can not think of anywhere else we would like to be. Chris is very welcoming and could not do enough for us. The rooms are really comfortable and all decorated individually in a period design. We ate in the restaurant and the food is of very high quality at a very reasonable price. All staff are very helpful.

We came across this restaurant by chance, looking for somewhere different to the more traditional fish n chip cafes in Matlock Bath.
I didn't think we would get in, but fortunately there was an available table!
The ribeye steak I had was perfectly cooked, along with all the trimmings. Sea bass was the choice for my wife, and she said it was the best she'd ever had!
After the meal, the owner took us on a short tour of the secret cave behind the hotel, which goes for 70 metres along a narrow cavern! It is believed to have reached Bonsall, around 5 miles away!
One day we will return and stay in this fantastic, friendly hotel.
A beautiful hotel in an amazing location. Owners and staff were all very welcoming and friendly. Lovely comfy beds and bedding. Spotlessly clean. Great breakfast and could see the Matlock Bath illumination fireworks from our bedroom window. Can't fault it xx
Our second visit and this time we had our newborn and are celebrating our first wedding anniversary.
We adore this hotel and the staff. Very welcoming and accommodating and nothing was too much trouble. Our first weekend away with our baby was made so much easier because of the wonderful staff at this hotel.
We can't recommend this hotel enough and will be coming back for years to come!

I literally walked into the hotel looking for a last minute hotel room for the night and the manager couldn't have been more accommodating. We stayed in one of the superior rooms, which had a lot of beautifully rustic charm and my favourite thing was the wooden beams in the ceiling... It was lovely. We were also informed of the caves (me and my partner are both scuba divers, with my partner being a trained cave diver) so he was like an excited child on Christmas Day when he was told he could go and explore... The cave was lovely and a completely unexpected and amazing feature of the hotel. Also not to be missed, was a lovely little rustic garden on the top of

This is by far the best hotel I've ever stayed in, a lot of history and natural charm and we will definitely be back.

We have just had a lovely afternoon tea at the Hodgkinsons Hotel in Matlock Bath. Amazing decor and with its own lead mine on the first floor. The food was lovely and served in a relaxed manner by Chris, the owner. Guests at the hotel were reporting what a nice experience it was to stay there too. Would love to come back in winter when they probably have the lovely fire going. Thank you Chris.
Wonderful hotel, really comfortable. Restaurant food is exceptional...... Smoked haddock risotto!!! Yummy. The staff couldn't be more friendly or welcoming. Make sure you get to see the caves!!
