Lovely place! Friendly staff, very nice breakfast and fantastic views. Looking forward to another visit!
We arrived in a Thursday (2 couples) we were early, so I asked if it was possible to book in whilst we were there, Scott was so accommodating and booked us in giving us all the relevant information needed. We booked a time slot for dinner, unpacked then went I. To the bar, what a lovely relaxing atmosphere! We had a ball, food was superb and plenty of it, rooms were large and very comfortable, the location is so peaceful and what a view to wake up to. Breakfast was hearty and set us up
For the day, we visited York and Ripon, we stayed 2 nights and thoroughly enjoyed it, Scott was so helpful and we had such a laugh with him, he made our stay and made us feel very welcome and we will definitely be going back 10/10😊😊👏🏻👏🏻
I have spend there only one night but felt very welcome. The service was great. Had dinner, breakfast and few local drinks. It was better then some other hotels I have been staying in.
Stayed for 1 night dinner b &b 6 of us and we really enjoyed our stay, large room, comfortable large bed and red hot shower. The evening meal and breakfast was spot on.The bar is nice and cosy with the wood burner on.Good beer and the barman, waiter was very pleasant and accommodating. We would recommend you give it a try.
Stayed overnight as 3 couples the setting is beautiful, the dinner was incredible , breakfast good too, Scott and team were great, room was clean and comfortable
All in all would highly recommend
Based on previous reviews, we were a little apprehensive. However, we experienced none of the issues raised. Our room was spacious and mattress very comfortable. We overlooked the caravan site but had no problems with noise whatsoever. The two ladies serving dinner last night were attentive and friendly.
They were somewhat let down by the unavailability of certain dishes which were on the menu. Having just had the rush of the bank holiday weekend.
Scott seems to have suffered some flack in previous reviews, but we found him to be approachable, informative and very personable.
All in all, a very pleasant 2 night stay. Thankyou.
Cannot fault this place. Used as an overnight stop when visiting family as we live in The Hague and originally are from Scotland. Rooms and spacious and spotless, site is lovely and the pub has exactly the atmosphere you're looking for. Scott behind the bar couldn't have been a nicer guy either. Thanks so much folks - 5 stars ans we'll be back on our next trip!

Quiet and cozy about 4km from the nearest town. Great views of the countryside. Breakfast 👍 and plenty. Host was friendly and helpful. Rooms were very clean and bathrooms too. We enjoyed our stay.
Stayed here last night and all I can say is it was amazing Scott front of house was so friendly and welcoming . We had room 11 and couldn't have asked for more very clean , comfortable and the shower was amazing. The food was first class . Nothing was to much trouble such friendly place even down to the locals . I highly recommend a stay and can't wait to go back till next time . Thanks very much .
N/A I had a meal there last week. It was excellent. I had a table booked by the Band B I was staying in. My welcome was warm and friendly. I was given a table outdoors, as requested and the service, given that I was out of sight was very attentive. They were celebrating fish week in the pub and the menu choice was amazing for fish dishes. Food was also excellent. All staff were friendly and attentive. It was a great experience. Perfect for a lone traveller but also families and couples. The views from my table were amazing.
The owner and staff at Fearby were lovely and couldn't have been more helpful. We were playing for a concert in Masham and they kindly agreed to put us up.
The breakfast was super with plenty of choice. The room was bright clean and comfortable.
The surroundings are picturesque.
We will definitely be staying here again for pleasure.
Many thanks
Oh my gosh! What a lovely, friendly, warm welcome! The staff were incredibly accommodating to every request I had and I would give 10 stars in a heartbeat, perfect views, cottagecore vibes and really encouraging you to step away from social media to appreciate great conversation and the scenery
It is a pub I've known all my life but never been in. Now, at last, I have, and I'm glad I did.
We stayed overnight and enjoyed a good dinner, a very comfortable room, and finished off with a good breakfast. The staff were very pleasant and helpful. Thankyou for a pleasant stay.
A much needed break led to the discovery for us, of this lovely country retreat, not far from the 'Brewery' that is Masham. Staff were great, as was the food, with a few different real ales to choose from. Rooms were incredibly spacious, with lovely views. Plenty of towns round about to visit and explore...well worth a visit!
Lovely pub lots of character family friendly, has a camp site out the back doors accommodation. The beer selection is good, staff friendly and professional, the food is priced a bit high, it's presented beautifully. It tastes great, I only had a starter fish mezze, only 3 fish/seafood ingredients, white bait calamari and Cockles. All were lovely the cockles were crispy, different but very nice and it was served with a few crispy capers which added a nice touch, partner had a beer root salad. Looked source on the plate was apparently delicious and very colourful. Next table, a big family group went straight for the mains. And they all looked fantastic, the chef is really hurting the door with some classy dishes, artistically presented, well proportioned, slightly out of my budget for a regular visit, but definitely a lovely treat, hoping to return soon to try the cod loin.
Where do we start, well from the moment we booked, the communication for our booking was amazing. If we had any questions they were always answered promptly by a team member. When we arrived we thought what an excellent location for what we wanted which was a quiet, tranquil break in the countryside for walks. The Black swan is up a nice quiet country road situated next to the Yorkshire Dales. Even though the weather wasn't the best, we made the most of our weekend and despite this still walked 40 mins to the local Black sheep brewery visitors centre. We really enjoyed the tour it was very interesting and the place itself modern and contemporary with a nice bar and shop where you can buy lots of gifts that tell the story of the brewerys history. The Black swan itself has rustic charm with a modern edge, the staff from our arrival where nothing but exceptional and welcoming. Particularly Jack who was very accommodating throughout our stay. The ambience was quiet and relaxing. We loved the personal touches too including a complimentary mini bottle of prosecco for an anniversary, which we thought was very kind and thoughtful. Nothing was ever too much trouble, anything we wanted was dealt with professionally and efficiently. The meals we had which included breakfast with our stay were exceptional from the portion size, to the flavour and presentation. What a talented chef never tasted lamb like it!! The rooms were very spacious, we liked that the out buildings were right next to the restaurant so if the weather was bad it took minutes to get in your nice warm room. The room itself had cosy under floor heating a large bed and all the coffee and tea facilities you could need. It was very clean and comfortable. I would reccomend this place to anyone. Thank you for our lovely stay :-) Zoe and Danny room 4
We stayed here for one night in late February. Room was very nice, very spacious and very clean. I think we were upgraded from a standard to a superior room, although they never said. There was a hard floor in the room with underfloor heating. Very warm and comfortable. Large sash windows with beautiful views and morning sun. Bed and pillows superb. Bathroom nice, clean, powerful shower, large fluffy towels.... quite a luxurious experience overall. The pub itself is small, warm and cosy with a large fireplace with a log burning stove. Good selection of beers (Theakston Brewery and Black Sheep Brewery only 1.5 miles down the road in Masham!). Food was excellent. Plenty of selection, high quality, well cooked, good service. Very happy with my stay and will almost certainly come again.
