Great ales. Pie and chips for £18 in the bar wouldn't be too bad if it were a proper pie, and not a small ceramic dish with a pastry top. I've had much better pies for much less money (and they should be served with veg, not just frozen peas). Still it's a great pub and location. It's worth a visit. I'm glad dogs are not in the restaurant, so they get an extra star from me for that. Real fire too.
Nice room, comfortable bed, clean bathroom and large shower.
The Breakfasts were A1.
Decided to have 1st night evening meal in the restaurant which was spacious with plenty of room between tables. The staff were really friendly and very efficient and helpful. The food was great so booked in for the next evening. No complaints at all and will definitely be back.

Stopped for Sunday dinner as a group, to be honest the main reason we chose it was because it was one of the only places in the area serving roasts in the evening as well as having gluten free items on the menu, but it turned out to be a great choice.
It's a lovely traditional pub, complete with a log fire, the only negative about the atmosphere was their use of plug-in air fresheners which were a bit strong smelling when you're eating!
The food was delicious, and they catered very well to my food intolerances, which are slightly more complicated than just a simple gluten intolerance, as I also can't have nightshades (i.e. potatoes, tomatoes, peppers etc) or many gluten free flour blends (so unfortunately no roast potatoes, gluten free Yorkshire puds or cauliflower cheese for me!), plus a few other things. They were happy to give me extra veg to make up for the missing items, and I was very satisfied with my meal.
There were a few vegetarians in our party who had the nut roast, and all said they were very tasty. Roasts came complete with a very large Yorkshire pudding on top, mashed potato (in addition to the roast ones) and braised red cabbage, plus cauliflower cheese and roast carrots and parsnips on the side. My daughter had a child sized portion of fish pie which she really enjoyed (not quite as good as her grandmothers' apparently, who both make excellent fish pies, but still very good!), and they were happy to remove the prawns for her which she's not keen on.
Complimentary bread and butter was brought out before the meal for people to nibble on, which was a nice touch, and I'm told it was very good bread! I'm not sure if they had gluten free bread available I didn't ask as I can rarely eat it anyway.
Service was polite and fairly efficient, the only snag was when they nearly undercharged us, luckily for them we were far too honest and pointed out the error to them! It wouldn't have been fair anyway to cheat them out of money for an very nice meal.
If we were near Masham again we'd definitely come back, and would recommend it to anyone looking for a decent roast dinner in the area.
This has got to be one of my favourite places to dine and stay. I have been twice now and cannot rate it enough. Each and every one of the team is very friendly, welcoming and cannot do enough for you.
I have stayed in both the penthouse suit and the classic room and both were lovely.
The food is delicious and always comes out very quickly. Every time I have left with a fully belly!
Sue should be very proud of what she has created with this business.
Great pub, unfortunately lack of meat in Steak Pue drops a star. Used to be better. Still a nice experience and would recommend to anyone asking. Very friendly head waitress.
A very good venue that was decorated well for Xmas and had a couple of fires on. Friendly service and a wide selection of Theakstons drinks on. The chips were great as were the large battered onion rings.
The vegetarian mushroom burger was good, but not great. Rather difficult to eat as the components kept falling out, or came out of the sides with each mouthful.
Would definitely recommend though.
This is such a Friendly Hotel, our experience has been 5 star all through our visit.
We had 2 rooms booked and one of our party had a Birthday on the morning of our departure, the staff went above and beyond to make it a memorable morning.
I can Highly Recommend a stay at the White Bear Hotel, the rooms, restaurant, bar and the incredible staff make this our favourite place to visit, you won't be disappointed.
Thanks to all the Team.
We came to Masham for a day visit, but after a visit to both the breweries, we decided to stop for the night. A quick check on Google for hotels, and we decided on the Kings Head. Which turned out to be a great choice as the food was delightful and the rooms were very nice. The crisp, clean sheets and firm bed made for a lovely sleep. The welcoming atmosphere in the pub was only bettered by the staff in the dinning area, Gay and Chris are amazingly friendly and great fun with lots of banter to keep punters in check.
The breakfast didn't disappoint with lots of options not only in the cooked breakfast but also cereals and pastries.
All in all I would definitely recommend a visit and even a stay in this lovely Yorkshire village with the Kings Head being a great place to spend some time.
Wonderful overnight stay, what a find. Very comfortable, well appointed rooms. Had both lunch and supper, more extensive and interesting menu for lunch but enjoyed both.
Lovely weekend stay at The White Bear, really nice lunch and superb evening meal.
Room was large, very well equipped with a proper teapot and spotlessly clean.
Highly recommended.
Great location, beautiful building and rooms. But it is without doubt the staff who make this hotel as great as it is. From what we observed, every member of staff was smiling helpful and professional. 100% without a doubt or worry, book in and enjoy. We did.
We had lunch here it was great service and lovely food. Will definitely return.

What a beautiful little place, my partner and I visited for dinner,
The staff were so welcoming, and very friendly, couldn’t Do enough for you, I had the ribs and my partner had the burger, it was incredible,
10/10 👍
Had a lovely meal with my friend. Good service. Not a very large car park though.
Great pub with excellent Theakstones beers, plus others. Cosy clean rooms too.
Food very good too.
Excellent food, lovely staff and dog friendly. Both interior and exterior seating areas were very nice with the outdoor terrace being particularly on a summer's evening.
There is no option to rate the food which should be added as I would have given five stars. We didn't stay so cannot rate the rooms.
