My boyfriend and I decided to head to the Peak District for an impromptu night away this bank holiday. Without too much research we booked The Crown Inn quite early on Sunday morning - directly through them.
We got a really good first impression from when we booked, and service was consistent throughout our stay; from a very warm welcome on arrival, to being shown to our room, from the young and so polite evening restaurant team and the waitress in the morning who was so attentive to my vegan requests! The service really did make this place for me.
My evening meal was absolutely delicious and really exceeded my expectations - so tasty and perfectly cooked. I think I’m quite hard to please too 😉
The room was absolutely spotlessly clean, light and comfortable. The bathroom was quite basic but fine. The only thing, as I think is often the case with accommodation in pubs is that we could hear what I think was the hand dryer from the toilets below. Luckily the pub wasn’t busy so we didn’t hear it often. There was also some random noise but luckily it didn’t wake me up. Maybe an extractor or something…?
We had a lovely stay and so glad we went with The Crown Inn. I’d highly recommend it as a choice of area to stay.
We booked for a night away for our anniversary. The establishment has a lovely, friendly feel, the staff very welcoming and the food was amazing. When we got to our room, it had everything we could need and the staff had added some lovely touches for our anniversary. Highly recommend, great value for money and a lovely stay. Thank you.
Excellent meal with good wine choice. Service in the restaurant well above average. Only criticism is like so many menus post covid is the burgers?? Why so many at the detrement of other dishes. Recomended.
Had midweek lunch and was very impressed with the food, nice steady choice and price about right. My ale was not right as the taste was off, but the nice lady happily asked me what would I like instead. Just felt the service girls could have been dressed slightly more in keeping with the place, never a lover of polo tops and jeans with serving fine food.
Stumbled upon this lovely pub for lunch. Definitely not disappointed! Choice and quality of food excellent. We returned a couple of months later after our Son's wedding in Chester for Sunday lunch...absolutely gorgeous. Will certainly stop to eat whenever we visit our Son and daughter-in-law.
What a little gem of a place to eat. I am so glad that it is signposted from the A50, though "food and bar" hardly does the place justice. Food was first class, waiting on staff were wonderful and it was relatively inexpensive too. Maybe the sign is understated to keep it from being too busy? Thank you so much.
Me and my partner went to Alton Towers for his birthday (June 2022) I saw this hotel and wasn't sure what it would be like.
We both was very happy here the room was gorgeous, big bathroom, the staff were ever so friendly and the food was just amazing. I would highly recommend.
Nice country pub. Lovely looking outside, but inside not so authentic. Enjoyed my food, but not a massive gastro choice tbh.
Superb typical English Inn. Food is great. Staff are fantastic. Really nice atmosphere. Good selection of beer. We would happily return here.
Staff and the food ordered on a cold Wednesday after Alton towers, were great. Nice place. I'd like to have stayed for a few.

We will go again and next time we will have fillet steak..!!! Just so you know the beef is from the owners farm.

Absolutely wonderful evening! Managed to fit us in on short notice with lovely food and great atmosphere! Credit to Mark and Evie for great service and entertainment of the evening!
We came for a meal on Saturday night as a family and we were all impressed with the quick service and lovely food. There was a lovely atmosphere in general and we were seated in a lovely cosy area. We all cam away very full after enjoying the delicious food. We are not local but if we happen to be in the area again we will definitely call in. Thank you for a lovely evening.
Good food and service in the restaurant of very pleasant pub in a very pretty village.
Didn't have an overnight stay, so couldn’t rate rooms. But bar and dining areas were clean and well presented. Staff were very welcoming and pleasant throughout the visit. Food order was swift and organised well, and drinks came quickly after ordering, while the food followed in a timely manner. The quality of the meal was good, and I would recommend it to anyone for a meal out.
The only issue with the crown inn is nothing to do with the inn itself but more access to it. It resides in a loverly village surrounded by farmland, which has a narrow road network leading to it, making it a little awkward when you are confronted by oncoming vehicles (in my case, a tractor).
Went for dinner after a day at Alton towers and the food was delicious. Lovely clean pub restaurant and staff friendly.
