Reviews Roman Lakes Leisure Park

It wasn't open but that was my fault for not paying attention to the fact that it has open days every last Sunday of the month, otherwise it's all locked up. Also a word of caution to drivers of non 4 wheel drive cars.. Google maps will take you there but the last few miles is track that is deeply pitted. Otherwise it looks lovely but I won't be returning by car!

If you like the wheels on your car then drive slow as the road down to it is horrendous, full of massive pot holes from the get go, as for the actual roman lakes, it's been closed for a long time, we went recently and they had blocked off the entrance for a private function. Nice walk when it is open though.

Nice place to stop by and slow down, we had some takeaway snacks from the tearooms which were nice (the egg and bacon roll was particularly appreciated in the cold!) The road to get here is a little bumpy but there is a car park. You can access the mill excavation area and garden house nearby from here.

Lovely quiet place for a walk, nice little cafe and tea rooms. Worth a visit. Lots of history dotted about.

Held our wedding at the Roman Lakes a couple of weeks ago and it was fantastic. The guests loved the relaxed feel of the place. We went back today as they were holding an "Open Day". They're still not fully open since covid but will be holding more events to invite the public back in to the park. Had a lovely walk round today. Had a brew and some food and fed the ducks!

Lovely, tranquil place in the Goyt Valley, midway between Marple and Strines. The lake is pleasant to walk round, plenty of waterfowl to see there too. There is a nice cafe conveniently positioned to sell their wares. Highly recommended.

Lovely walks in picturesque surroundings, plenty of birds including geese, swans and even a line peacock. Nice little cafe on site. Parking can be difficult in busy periods

Quiet, beautiful, hidden gem. Free parking, lovely cafe area. CASH ONLY. Interesting walks. Quaint little village on the way in, then a very bumpy, dusty track, not too bad to navigate just need to be patient.

Had a great morning - 40 years since we were there. Invested £1 in the walks book, did one of them then had lunch. Will be back for the others!

Great place to visit. Sit and watch the water birds or have a walk down by the river. Nice cafe by the lake, and a kiosk from which to get snacks. Can get quite busy on warm summer days, but not too bad if you get there earlier in the day.
