It’s the best place in the world. It’s the whole experience sitting at the bar and eating the best food, but mainly the people that work here that makes this place so good. They create an amazing atmosphere. I feel like I live there, just can’t stay away!

The word "burger" doesn't quite fit for a burger from the Butcher's Tap and Grill. But it's not helpful if I say everything is delicious, even if it's absolutely true. I had a Double Cheese + BBQ Brisket Burger and the wife had Buttermilk Fried Chicken Caesar Burger. The smokey flavor of my first bit was divine and I just kept finding new flavours every time I had a flash of concentration. The brisket is beefy the red cabbage leveled and colourful. We found the matradee is top notch as well as all the other staff. I would now always order bacon with the meal as a must try and take my food off the wrapping as I had started eating it in my haste. I look forward to the occasion I get to try a T-Bone.

A surprising find on a Friday night. My Wife and I stumbled upon this place by chance as we were in town for a wedding. From the outside it seems like a generic pub. The menu outside the entrance hints there there is something different - ribs, interesting burgers, and the ability to buy meat to take home; our interest was piqued. We went in to find the place fairly busy. Not packed, but there were only perhaps two tables available. A moderately trendy vibe without trying to be pretentious. Jeans and t shirt were as welcome as something a little smarter. We found two seats right next to the kitchen. These were bar-type seating rather than a full table, but were plenty big enough. There was also seating outside. The staff were friendly, if busy. Ordering was via the till. There was a good selection of beers and other drinks, but the food is certainly the main event. The kitchen was wonderfully run by two chefs, with occasional assistance from the waiting staff. It was a pleasure to watch, seeing as we were sat right next to it. We had deep-fried macaroni to start, they arrived as sizeable arancini-like delights covered with fresh hard cheese. The plating was perfect. My Wife had the chicken burger, which comes as a Caesar salad re-imagining with a coated chicken breast, Caesar sauce and garnishes. Mine was a pulled-pork topped beef burger with a lightly picked slaw. Their black pudding add on was wonderful. Although we didn’t partake, the meat counter has a butchers selection of meats which you can purchase to take home, or select to be cooked for you there. This includes steaks. We spent £60 between us, including drinks which I thought was very reasonable indeed. This was a wonderful local find, vastly superior to the chains further down the high street. The food was excellent and the whole experience was memorable. I would happily seek it out if I am in the area again, and you certainly should too!

As someone who chooses not to eat anything with a face, you may wonder why we chose the Butchers Tap. Well, having reviewed the menu on line and noticing that we could also take the dog with us, we decided to visit. We were very pleased we did. Informal, no need to book and great atmosphere. The food was ordered on the ap’ which is encouraged (our choice) and arrived promptly and served by friendly staff. My Korean mushroom burger was to die for! Quite funny when you consider the array of meats on offer and which my wife enjoyed. Loving this idea. Well worth a visit and happy to recommend. Well done the team, oh and Mr. Kerridge for the concept!

Do visit if you are in town. Small shop / restaurant with limited seating. The quality of the meat is phenomenal and it does not cost the world. We had a pork belly burger and the Vegetarian main, which were both amazing. They had a gherkin ketchup which was very interesting, went really well with the fried bits.

Fantastic experience dining. The bar is a butchers counter, you can choose a piece of steak (lots of cuts), or there was pork and lamb as well. I chose a pork tomahawk that had a Korean bbq marinade. They weigh the cut and the price of the piece of meat goes on the bill. You then take it to the grill and they listen to how you want it cooked and you choose sides (thoroughly recommend the Hispi Cabbage with lamb ragu side). There is a £14.50 grill fee per person on top of the meat cost and sides are charged separately. However prices are very reasonable for the obvious quality of ingredients and the considerable expertise of the chefs. Our steaks were cooked to perfection and tasted wonderful. The Parmesan and truffle loaded fries and homemade onion rings were fantastic. Thoroughly recommend the whole experience. Jamie (Exec Chef) helped us choose our meat and made a point of asking us how it was as we left. All staff were so helpful and friendly I felt compelled to write this review (I rarely do). We will be back, will not mind waiting for a table (they don’t take bookings and the place was packed).

Absolutely worth a visit. We shared the Buttermilk Fried Chicken Burger and the Sirloin Steak fresh from the counter. Both drinks and steak were reasonably priced. We popped the Mac'n'Cheese bites as a little starter which were "Proper Lush"

Love this place, been multiple times and always a reliable burger at fair prices for the quality. Definitely recommend the onion rings with gherkin ketchup! FYI - a terrible pic as it's way more delicious than this makes it look.

We enjoyed a lovely meal at the Butcher's Tap to celebrate my Father-in-law's 85th birthday. The steaks were delicious, and the choice of wines was fantastic. Great services, and lovely atmosphere. It is (very) expensive, but for an indulgent celebration it was worth every penny.
