I was so impressed with Danesfield House, we’ve had the perfect weekend stay there. Ample parking, very warm welcome & shown personally to our room. Incredible balcony with gorgeous view of grounds / river Thames / Chilterns. Delicious three course dinner with excellent service. Breakfast on both days was incredible - you can have as little or as much as you like from both continental & cooked menus. The staff on service were amazing, a real credit to this hotel!
We also indulged in afternoon tea which, again, was wonderful. We couldn’t finish it all, so took a box back to our room which we had later that evening. It was my birthday and they did a special plate of truffles for us, what a treat!
The spa is great too - very clean and didn’t feel busy at all! We had a couple of relaxing treatments. Everyone was SO lovely, I would highly recommend a weekend here. A big 10/10 from us. Thank you to everyone who took such good care of us!
Great location, very good service, nice room but the ensuite was small. You had step around the toilet when getting out of the bath. Having said that each room is unique.
The breakfasts were superb and the spa facilities were also good. The pool was a good size
I stayed for one night to celebrate my birthday... I had just lost my darling mum to cancer and my daughter is also having chemo for breast cancer.. and I look after her children.. so this one night stay was so very much looked forward to. It did not disappoint! We had a beautiful room, and although we didn't eat in the evening (I had eaten at the Hand and Flowers at lunch -another birthday treat) we had room service, and the charcuterie board was fabulous!! The grounds are beautiful.. I spent the evening watching the green parakeets flying around the gardens.. and the breakfast was excellent. The staff were professional, kind and attentive. I had the 24hrs of rest and peace I was craving.. thank you! When my daughter has completed her chemotherapy I will take her here.. she will love it!! Thank you x
This is a lovely hotel with a gorgeous view over Thames. We didn't have high expectations on hotel food, but the food served in the hotel restaurant was surprisingly good. We had quail which was tender and delicious. The duck breast was perfectly pink and the highlight of the dish was the sauce.
Had a two night stay for my wife’s birthday and ate in the restaurant and the bar. We thoroughly enjoyed the experience, the house and grounds are well presented with great views and a sense of detachment, the rooms are excellent the staff are very attentive have character and the food was great too. Nice pool and having a steam room is a plus.
Wonderful historic property set in a beautiful setting overlooking the Thames.
Staff were extremely pleasant and helpful. Spa was more than adequate but like the room a tad tired. Dinner and breakfast was excellent. Overall a charming experience. It was given as a gift so I'm sure we got the 'package' service. Even so I would be glad to have paid the price as a special treat.
This hotel is beyond beautiful. Amazing views. Great place for a wedding or a romantic get away. Quiet and scenic. Strongly recommend.
We had a great stay at Danesfield house, the grounds were stunning and the place is a sight to see.
The room we had was okay but the roof windows had blinds that did not work so the light came in very early morning.
Also the TVs are very restricted.
The breakfast was excellent and service was top notch.
I would highly recommend the spa which is attached to the hotel.
As a wedding photographer, having shot here before I cannot fault Danesfield House, it is a dream venue! The Versailles room is a stunning location for weddings, as are the beautiful grounds which include views over the Thames valley.
The staff were all nothing short of efficient and friendly, towards us suppliers too which is not always a given at wedding venues.
The food was delicious and everything ran smoothly and on time.
I hope to return here again as it is truly one of the most photogenic venues I've ever worked at!
Beautiful characterful property with very helpful staff and a personal touch. 4 stars for the room because the room was very hot at night with lack of air con (note we were there on the hottest days of the year >25degC), which is understandable in a historic property. To alleviate the situation, a duvet tog lower than 10.5tog would help 😀
We found all the staff were all very helpful and just couldn't do enough for us.
The hotel and & grounds were outstanding with wonderfull views of the the surrounding Chiltern Hills and the River Thames.
The spa facilities were well above expectations.
This was only capped by the excellent restaurant food.
To sumerize a highly recommended stay ++
Stayed recently for an overnight spa break. Danesfield House is a lovely property with a great location. The spa facilities are very good with a large pool that never felt too busy. The food was lovely and although the service was a bit Fawlty Towers at times, it was always charming. The only negative that stops me giving 5 stars is that as new parents on a very rare “night off” we asked for a late check out. This was refused at booking twice, despite this being accepted the first time we booked! (we had to move the original booking). At check in they said the extra hour for a late check out would cost £20. A bit rich when we were spending £450 for the overnight package when you add in all the extras. So unfortunately that small point left quite a big and lasting bad taste for us.
Very nice and helpful staff. Ground are beautiful. Afternoon tea and breakfast are great. Dinner options not great.
Well worth a visit. We stayed 2 nights.
Spa is nice and has a good swimming pool.
Sharing a long overdue review. We got married here in summer 2021 and had the best experience. Staff were wonderful and the hotel and grounds are beautiful (which is why we chose it). Food was excellent and the bedrooms were great. Hoping to come back for our anniversary soon.
Attended the most beautiful wedding here. Staff could not have been more attentive. The hotel was stunning both inside and out. And the bed was more comfortable than my own bed at home. Definitely visit here again
Lovely place to stay for a weekend. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Some of the rooms are more comfortable than others and there's lovely views if you get a room facing the back garden and river.
The spa/pool is very clean and very relaxing with a nice view. The breakfast was okay, but they mixed up some of the order when we substituted items. Also the toast was cold.
But overall it is a beautiful hotel on a large property to explore.
