There are some restaurants where my name is forever going to be on the waiting list. I've wanted to go to Tom Kerridge's Hand & Flowers for SO long but the thought of waiting a whole year for a table just seems insane. . Well what if I let you in on a little secret on how you can eat Tom Kerridge's food without any wait at all?
The Coach is Tom Kerridges second restaurant in Marlow which has been open a little less than two weeks. Needing no introduction as chef is regularly on TV promoting British produce and refined pub grub which is accessible to all. The Coach first peaked our interest during an appearance by chef at the Liverpool Food and Drink Festival in September, where he spoke passionately about his ethos and understanding the difficulties in getting into his acclaimed 2 Michelin starred restaurant, The Hand & Flowers. Therefore wanting to spread his food and seeming genuinely humble and appreciative of the public support, The Coach operates a no bookings policy. Marlow is a bustling little town and it was surprising how busy it was full of cars and high street shops, somehow in my mind I thought it was similar to the peaceful and calm Bray. The interior of the pub is plush with seats for diners across the bar along with tables around the sides. Having two restaurants in Marlow makes for easier management and it was nice to see Tom Kerridge overseeing the operation from the bar and chatting to customers. Marlow is probably a good location for other reasons as well, namely for the affluent population. We were aghast when in when a lady walked into the waiting area and promptly declared it to be a horrible little room and that they should go for a stroll instead! It was a narrow small waiting room to be fair with staff walking through constantly but it was clean and certainly better than being out in the cold. Other customers would stroll in and nonchalantly ask for glasses of champagne as if it was the norm for a Saturday afternoon. After a short wait and a quick gander at the menu we were seated and were told that the dishes were all starter/tapas sized with prices from a reasonable £2.50 - £14.50 . Like a kid in a sweet shop we wanted to order everything but restrained ourselves incase we were too greedy for our own good. The dishes arrived thick and fast and we started with sa

Great food, wonderful service, lovely place. I'd highly recommend the muscles, but the rotisserie beef was a little underwhelming. The sticky toffee pudding was the best I've ever had. The staff were super amazing. Very attentive without being at all over bearing.
Freakin' phenomenal!!!! Went here only yesterday for a birthday, where they pieced together a tweet with our booking and gave us a card and mini 'happy birthday' in chocolate on a plate - how thoughtful. This is probably one of, if not *the best*, restaurant (pub?) I have EVER been to. The food was impeccable. Not only is the interior well looked after, the staff were beyond accommodating. We parked at one of the nearby car parks and made the short walk. Honestly, I can't get over how delicious the food was. It is recommended you have around 3 dishes per person - I managed 2 (quail and potatoes, then treacle tart for pudding) - where everything is cooked to the best standard. It was divine. If you have any special occasions coming up, this is one to splurge on. Yes, it is on the pricier end, but you can see it's invested into the food, quality and pub itself. Thank you so much to all of the team there - we had the best time and can't wait to come again in future!
The food at this place is superb, and the service is nice. Every dish served was delicious and deserving of praise. Although the atmosphere might feel unusual due to it being a pub, it doesn't detract from the quality deserving of a star. However, if you prefer the more formal establishments in London's West End, this may not be your ideal choice. A fun detail is that they have a live microphone set up in their kitchen, which you can listen to on their website. We also loved that they take same day bookings - please don’t change that! 🙏
Perfectly put together small plates which we enjoy sitting at the bar with a view of the kitchen.
Service is friendly and relatively informal.
Very different to The Hand and Flowers in style, but just as good in overall experience.
Been here few times now and loved it every single time.. Great tasty good looking food, love watching the chefs in action too. Definitely deserves the Michelin star..
I recently dined at The Couch in Marlow, a one-star Michelin restaurant that left me thoroughly impressed. The food was not only delicious and succulent, but also beautifully presented with nice details that added an extra level of sophistication.
The atmosphere was cosy, and while the restaurant was small, it added to the intimacy and charm of the dining experience. The open kitchen added an extra layer of excitement as we were able to watch the chefs expertly prepare our meals.
One thing to note is that the sizes of the dishes were on the smaller plates, but we were advised that each dish was meant to be a starter size, so 2-3 per person would be ideal. This recommendation proved to be spot-on, as we were able to taste a variety of dishes and flavors without feeling uncomfortably full.
What really stood out to me was the reasonable price for a Michelin star restaurant. The quality of the food, the attentive service, and the overall experience far exceeded what we paid for. The personal were professional, friendly, and knowledgeable about the menu, which added to our enjoyment of the evening.
Overall, I highly recommend The Couch in Marlow to anyone looking for a delicious and memorable dining experience. It truly exceeded my expectations and left me eager to return for more
Fantastic meal. The portions may look small but very rich and full of flavour!Lovely staff who are attentive but not over the top.Great place to eat very relaxed. The cider and onion soup with a cheese scone was amazing, as were the roast potatoes !!
The BEST of British at this cozy, old fashioned pub in beautiful Marlow. The portions are small but after you’ve reached dessert, you realise you are full. Had the most incredible chips I ever tasted and the mussels in stout foam was an incredible taste. For my main, I had the seabass and I used the delicious chips to mop up the sauce - no one could talk to me as I was in heaven. My husband had the burger and it was the most unusual looking burger but it melted in the mouth. If you haven’t been, what are you waiting for?!!! Book it!
Lovely Sunday lunch, sharing small delicious plates of food. Portions are on the small side (but they do warn you!) although packed of flavour.
The slider is exceptional so it’s the mushroom “risotto” and I’d you just can have one dessert- please have the rhubarb choux bun.
4 people/10 dishes/ 2 wines (Albariño yum!) / 4 beers - around £60 pp.
We’ve been numerous times without a booking and we always manage to get a seat. Favourite place to sit is at the bar. Service is always top notch with the friendliest of people.
I dream constantly about the mushroom Risotto, soups, burger… just the whole menu.
Delicious food, great staff. Highly recommend this place, specially when you sit at the bar near the pass.
had an incredible evening at the coach. staff were fantastic, very friendly and helpful. food was just incredible! watching the chef and the tram was so good. very relaxed vibe. what a brilliant evening, couldn't fault it. definitely recommend and can't wait to come back
Visited from US and want to try local restaurant with my local friend of his recommendation was turn to amazing food love it and to the fantastic service provided to us received from our server AMY is amazing. Thank you AMY
Food is Great
Service is Super 5 star
Out table in corner all the way to the end was little bit of uncomfortable and dark.
Those roast spuds were lush!
I'd have loved a full roast beef with trimmings but was all the small plates were fantastic.
Service was excellent as well.
Reasonably priced Michelin restaurant. I love that they take same day bookings - please don't change that! 🙏
Food was delicious, staff was also really nice. My favorite was the hispi cabbage, the Sunday roast, and the celeriac. Bill for 3 people came to £182. We left full and happy. Best dessert was the banana custard, the choux bun was a little too sweet for my taste.
The chicken Kiev was delicious while the burger was OK. I suffered from food envy sadly...but thoroughly enjoyed the mango and coconut choux bun.
We did not have a reservation and got lucky to be seated. Try have a reservation. The place is lovely, service spot on and everything we ordered was delightful, so tasty!
We were informed that portion sizes are smaller and per person two dishes would be appropriate. That advise was on the dot. We ordered 5 dishes and we're stuffed. Some are not pictured here we started eating before we realized we did not have pictures.
Everything we tasted was absolutely flavorful, great texture and satisfying! Highly recommend all round.
