Beautiful food in an elegant setting, the Tandoori grill was tasty and the biriani was flavourful and well cooked. A great menu with excellent service.
It has been a long time since I last ate in an Atul Kochar restaurant. I was still in university and it was 2008. I feel old just thinking about that. At that time Benares, Atul’s flagship restaurant in Mayfair, had just won a Michelin star, carrying over from Tamarind where he was head chef. Today Atul’s restaurant empire spans over 3 continents with outposts in Dubai, Madrid and India. He also has restaurants on board P&O cruise ships named Sindhu. This is also the name of the restaurant at the Macdonald Compleat Angler hotel in Marlow where we dined.
It actually does feel like forever since i've written up a post... we have anew member of our little family and thus meaning I would rather stay in and cook than go out and miss evening snuggles on my sofa with this guy... who could resist this face. We escaped one Sunday and popped out to Marlow which happens to be one of my favourite places outside of London. It's beautifully quaint and, perched aside the river are houses I dream of living in with a beautiful wooden boat to pootle on the water... one day!
We had a very enjoyable experience. The staff was super friendly and professional. The view is quite nice with the Thames right outside the window. We had the tasting menu and it was really good.
I have to admit thought that our pallets are more geared toward French/cosmopolitan cuisine, so I don't think we got full enjoyment out of the various taste combinations. This of course is due to our lack of experience/exposure with Indian fine dining and not at all the fault of the restaurant - they did everything right! Also the lamb dish was amazing - melted like butter.
Overall, if you enjoy Indian cuisine and fine dining, you really can't go wrong here.
This was a birthday treat from my partner. The food was amazing so tasty. And the cocktail i had was lovely. The staff were very friendly I even was given a cake with a candle and happy birthday message on the plate.
Unfortunately Atul wasn't there lol that would have made my night. But you can't have everying.
Thank you to the chef and the staff for a lovely meal and evening
Came here for our wedding anniversary as got married at the Compleat Angler. We were graciously greeted and shown to our table, a discreet area with views of the dining room and the river. We decided on the 3 course lunch. Pankeer vegetables and chicken parcel. Poppadoms and aloo tikka. Followed by madras lamb and chicken. Drinking orange gin and tonic and table water. We had mixed naan, garlic and cheese. We ended up taking these home. Desert was passion fruit mousse and caramel and clotted cream ice cream. As it was our anniversary, we were surprised by an anniversary brownie with a candle! Service was prompt and easy. Have attached pics of food, the menu and the bill.
Another delicious lunch here, with lovely friendly staff and a beautiful setting.
The chicken chettinaad was particularly delicious as was the prawn starter.
Very delicious biryani, my friends meals were equally enticing. All credit to the service, we visited on a Wednesday evening with a very informal birthday party, and the staff treated us with great kindness and patience despite baby mess and silly singing, I'd definitely return for a more private and personal dining experience in keeping with the quality of the establishment. Cocktails were original and high quality too.
Took my husband to Sindhu for his birthday lunch and we loved it! We did the set lunch menu which was plentiful. Service was excellent and of a very high standard. We recommend the passion fruit champagne cocktail which was delicious. All foods were delicious. Would recommend highly!
Had a lovely lunch with my wife, staff were very attentive and helpful and obviously the star of the show was the food, delicious.
A nice Indian restaurant by river Thames, their Chef had got michelin star award. Come here with friends for lunch.
Their lunch set have variety and very value for money. We chose the 3 course include started, main and dessert. Presentation is nice and taste good in general. Staff are nice and friendly. Worth to come back again.
We visited this restaurant to celebrate an occasion and were really happy with the dinner. The restaurant is located in a hotel so it is easy to find parking.
The service at Sindhu is amazing and everyone there was very attentive. The waiters took their time to explain the dishes and make recommendations. The food was great and we weren’t disappointed. They also presented us with a lovely dessert plate for our anniversary. Would definitely go back!
Visited here on a sunny Monday lunchtime. Like most people there we had a virgin experience voucher. Restaurant has about 40 covers but some tables are closer together than i would like. Staff very friendly and welcoming. Set menu good, and I think very good value. Three course and a glass of wine for £27 is you didn't have a voucher. Note some dishes have a supplement of £8. Parking at hotel free all day if visiting a restaurant, have to add your car details in arrival. Would return.
Upmarket Indian Dining Experience - excellent service and amazing food. The Baklava cheesecake was heavenly! A go to for our family special occasions. It was our wedding anniversary and it was a little disappointing they did not acknowledge this except in conversation at the end of our meal.
We came here on Sunday, with a voucher for the Three Course Meal.
We booked months before, this is a very requested place!
We ate very well, tasty food and well presented. Many waiters in the room, all very fast and efficient.
I could go back one day to try the normal
Menu, I think that they have a very good chef in the kitchen.
A satisfactory meal in a delightful location. No issues redeeming the Buyagift voucher.
Delightful tasting menu with wine pairing. The setting overlooking the river is fantastic. The staff member serving the food to our table seemed very disinterested and muttered the name of each dish and wine before scurrying away! Highly recommend the food - the halibut was a particular highlight!

I had the 7-course tasting menu. This was one of the best meals I have ever had. The presentation of each dish was beautiful, and the variety of tastes was incredible. The scallop with the yoghurt and aubergine dressing (?) was excellent, the fish melted in my mouth, and the cardamom in the chocolate bomb was so subtle. I would love to try this menu again with the wine pairing next time!
Every member of the staff was incredibly thoughtful and pleasant. It was really a fantastic experience.
Beautiful 7 course tasting menu. We were welcomed in and made to feel at home by the lovely staff. Each course was a delight and they changed a couple of the fish courses for me with no problem. Wine and water reasonably priced. It was a lovely evening that lasted about two and a half hours, it was not rushed. Would highly recommend this experience and would definately go back.
My partner and I had the tasting menu. Beautifully cooked food, amazing flavours and quality. Service was impeccable. Felt extremely welcoming with a great ambience. Gorgeous views out of the stained glass windows of the Thames. Couldn't have been any better and recommend highly.
