Lovely pub! The best pub in the village and honestly the only ‘local’ pub! Such friendly staff and a great atmosphere all the time!

It's a while back, but we hired the function room for my girlfriends 30th birthday. It was a great night, the staff were so helpul and couldn't do enough for us. THe room was fantastic, and perfect for a party!
Thank you to all the staff for a fantastic party on Saturday night for Pats 50th, Dean you were a fantastic DJ, had everyone dancing all night, staff worked so hard behind the bar. Food was great, everyone had a brilliant night. X
Popped in a couple of weeks ago, when I was at the end an 8 mile walk around Flamsted and Markyate. It was just a quick refreshment stop. I didn't eat on this occasion. I must say its one of the cleanest pubs I have ever been in, it had a really nice feel to it and I would definitely visit again, based on this alone.
Had my wedding here. Beautiful venue, very accommodating landlord and staff. They went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect even acting as the DJ for music to walk down the isle to. Can't say enough positive things.
I Dj'd here for the first time last Sat for a school leavers. What a cracking venue. Friendly landlord was very helpful with everything I asked. He has some great lighting already out in the barn. The barn is ideal size for prob 75-100 people at a guess. Would thoroughly recommend it for a wedding or birthday. Give it a try, you won't be disappointed.
Would highly recommend the pub for its’ vibrant atmosphere, very friendly staff and talented chef trying something new each time we visit. Have enjoyed a family breakfast this morning - very good traditional food with a modern twist. Many thanks Kyle and Jon! Definitely coming back.
Am not joking when I say this is by far the best pub in a 20 mile radius I found. I've been coming to the area 2 or 3 times for work the last 7 years. I've only just found this place and man I wish I'd found it sooner. The beers are amazing as a craft drinker. I've struggled in this area massively. But they have Mad squirrel on tap (am name dropping so I can refer back to it) which in my opinion beats their kneck oil and well pretty much all of Beavertown have to offer.
As well as that there's music, a beer garden, friendly staff. Not being a local am always worried about visiting village pubs for the reception I may receive. There's no worries here. You'll be welcome with open arms, a smile, and a bloody good beer at a reasonable price. If you had any doubts of visiting here I hope I've put them rest. I'll definitely be back.
We loved hosting a 60th celebration at The Swan Barn. It was a lovely, cosy, welcoming space where our guests felt very relaxed, inside and out. The staff are excellent and very friendly and accommodating. We would definitely use it again for any other events .
Used The Barn, The Swan (Markyate) for my daughters Baby Shower/Party and cannot praise this venue or the staff involved more. Everything from start to finish was handled professionally, kept fully informed along the way. Around 70 people attended, and everyone was commenting on what a 'gem' this place was, convenient, spotlessly clean and very efficient. If your looking for a venue that holds 80 max., then this is definitely one to think about. Thank you The Barn, The Swan.
If you haven't been there must go amazing food amazing people and staff. Wednesday beer and pizza it's amazing and the price it's so cheap we'll recommend this place.
Lovely place to go with nice outdoor spaces and a wide choice of drinks. Themed food nights and weekly activities make The Swan a real asset to the village.
