I believe you'll have to travel a long way to surpass Ben's Cornish Kitchen - and then of course you won't be able to experience the magic of a post prandial stroll along the beach gazing out to the fairy tale St Michael's Mount.
Therefore let me revise the statement.
Should you surpass the food you still can't surpass the experience.
Good service coupled with supreme food and barely more expensive than a meal from the pub (until like us you drink the finest wines and finish lunch with calvados!).
Excellent lunch at a reasonable price with great atmosphere and friendly staff!
Flavours are amazing; standard of presentation as well as ingredients is outstanding - must visit if in the area!
Stopped in for lunch. Had to book the day before but as usual it was great.
Fantastic value for money and well chosen wines to accompany the dishes.
Great fish dish for main. My partner had lamb. Needless to say nothing left on the plates.
Service to match the quality of food. It's always nice to see the same faces each time we visit.
Thanks for looking after us again and we will see you next year.
Booked a table to celebrate my Aunt's 60th birthday just before Christmas 2016. She is severely allergic to several fairly common food ingredients which can make eating out a sometimes challenging affair. We called ahead and advised the restaurant when we made the reservation. Upon arrival my aunt was presented with a menu that the chef had carefully annotated in advance identifying items of concern and those that would be suitable as well as suggesting potential substitutes. This made the whole experience so much more relaxed and enjoyable. Service was attentive and very friendly. Food was absolutely delicious, in particular the scallop starter and turbot main. For a three course meal the portion sizes were perfect. I very much look forward to a return visit the next time we are in Cornwall! Thanks for a fantastic evening Ben!
Consistently outstanding food and service! Great to have such a fabulous restaurant only a short distance from our B&B. Our guests love the superb menu and wine lists.
No wonder Ben's has been nominated for so many food awards and rated as Number 28 top seaside restaurant in the UK by the Times.
We booked a table here to celebrate my 30th on the strength of the reviews, and weren't disappointed.
The food was nothing short of exceptional - mouthwatering in flavour and there was an excellent variety of fascinating dishes. It was a shame to only pick one! I'm sorry to say I was too busy enjoying it to photograph the food, but presentation and flavour were both outstanding. Topped off by great wine and atmosphere with friendly and attentive service and you've got a restaurant experience that exceeds all expectations. The dishes change seasonally, but the red mullet and chorizo starter was just sublime and worth mentioning.
Reservations are a must, but this one is not to be missed. Ben's Cornish Kitchen is a delight!
Booked this for my boyfriend’s 30th whilst we were visiting Cornwall. It was more expensive than where we would usually go, but probably one of the best meals I’ve ever had, we were both very impressed, and well worth the money. Staff were very friendly, and it had a lovely atmosphere. Lovely that we could walk out and pretty much straight onto the beach with a view of St Michael’s Mount. I would love to go back again when we next visit Cornwall.
We had an amazing evening at Ben's Cornish Kitchen. There is nothing we could fault and we would recommend anyone who appreciates good food to come here. Nothing to look at from the outside but once through the door it's all change A warm welcome awaits and one is immediately impressed with the décor and ambiance. My starter of duck livers was perfect as was my wife's mackerel.
Great food and atmosphere! I have visited a few times now and each occasion has been better than the last. Great menus and a good selection of reasonably priced wines. Ben's Cornish Kitchen is one of my 3 favourite local restaurants.
Very good indeed. The menu is inventive, without being over fussy. The portions are perfectly sized (not for you if you equate quality with quantity). Excellent local food, well cooked and presented.
The best I've found in West Cornwall.
Excellent food and wine pairings. Well paced. Exceptional flavors.
Very highly rated - but I drop a star because when we had his venison dish, there was a huge piece of venison loin (tasty and well cooked), but virtually no vegetables - so a protein overload. Often full - so worth booking. Recently re-arrange the tables/bar - so all the tables are now good - but a window table (upstairs or down) is probably best choice.

Good place. Only reason I am not giving 5 stars its because we waited a very long time for food and when it came out it wasn't particularly hot. Also, the bread buns on the side you get given at the start taste nice, but they also feel like they were baked yesterday.
I am lucky to have have eaten at michelin starred restaurants so please believe me when I say thet the main, monkfish, was up there with the very best. Truly amazing food. I can easily seeing them getting a star.
This is a bit special. No ordinary, run of the mill cooking here. Everything on all of the the dishes is designed to complement and support everything else. There is a delicacy and lightness of touch in the cooking, and great thought has been made in the construction of the dish. Particularly outstanding was a sort of deconstructed chicken Kiev.
The menu contains freshly sourced innovative ingredients combined in a way you will see nowhere else. The staff remembered my sons allergy from the reservation and were able to suggest menu items for him. As everything is freshly cooked, they were also able to remove the feta from his lamb dish. They also provided the cocktail special for them using soda water instead of sparkling wine - a nice touch. The staff were personable and wonderfully attentive. I had the scallop and lobster ravioli with orange and samphire risotto. There are many parts of this dish that could go disastrously wrong, but it was executed to perfection. Even if you are elsewhere in Cornwall make this restaurant a reason to visit Marazion.
