They don't do food! Tried pies once but they were too much hassle on match days.
Where else would you go for a pre match pint? Decent Holt ales and lagers. Sky and TNT. Smashing pub π

Great pre-match boozer. Once a very busy community pub in the heart of East Manchester industry but now much quieter and one of the few pubs left when once there were dozens in this area.
I came before the Manchester City vs Aston Villa and loved it If you want to experience a real no frills English Pub where you can drink beer πΊ come here!
Really friendly pub and great, down to earth people. A bit of trouble now and then as to be expected, but the landlord makes you feel safe and welcoming. It has taken a while to improve the place but compared to this time last year, I feel safe and comfortable in this pub now. Landlord and staff will go out of their way to welcome you. Thanks guys ππ

My father goes when he's in town
I like the place. Had a couple of nice glasses of red wine. At least their disabled lavatory ISN'T on the 1st floor. Unlike somewhere i went not long ago
Easy going pub on which Margaret and I always feel welcome by the staff and customers, the beer is kept well as too is the cleanliness and comfortable surroundings.
On and off I started frequenting the 'GROVE' around 2001 in which we befriended several people, over the years some have passed on and the Pub has always been well run by the numerous Managers and Chris the present Manager seems to be doing a good job as too are his staff.
Went in there with my other half (I've not been in there for about 17 years & other half has never been before) Was made to feel so welcome. A very good pint and fantastic staff and regulars. Keep up the excellent work Sandra and team
Went with my brother after the match. Nice little pub with a good atmosphere and friendly staff and the beer is fine. Another plus is the metro station which is just two minutes away. Definitely a manchester city pub but not a rough pub. Anyones welcome and i'll be going again.
It's a really great pub friendly and real good bar staff must be good for MCFC fans people who live around it only went in because we was going to watch metallic could have stopped in easily all night spot on place
Smashing local Holts house that has had a quality refurbishment recently...
Since the refurbishment however, new management came in pre-lockdown and when I asked for a pint of Strongbow I received a measure to the top of the archer's bow symbol on the glass. I asked for it to be topped-up, but was told by the person serving that this was the correct measure.
I asked if a manager was about, and one appeared and reiterated this.
I have never been in since.
A few beers before a fantastic Derby Day win, was full of happy city fans before and ecstatic after.
Nice big holts pub with beer garden and smoking area pool table up date jukebox 4 Tvs for live sport
The management and staff are brilliant the same can be said of the regulars

We visited after the city match. A traditional pub which serves Holts beer. Had a great atmosphere on the day of the game.
Friendly service and although no food served, it's OK to take your own food in
It'is very good like a pub used to be proper old school drinkers in there and the bar staff are nice

This pub has really changed for the good i mite add, relaxed atmosphere friendly people welcoming staff and good pub grub at reasonable prices i enjoyed it very much
