Lovely clean pub with great friendly staff. Visited here a few times and always have good service. Food gorgeous and hot too.

Food was excellent. We were a large party on a Friday evening and we were really pleased with all our meals. So much choice! Piping hot , every plate was left clean. The service was excellent. Black pudding starter is delicious. Can't fault the menu small plate special deal or 2 and 3 courses deal.
The A666 between Clifton and Kearsley has a few nice pubs but I count this one too among them. Bit of a hidden gem as it's in an unassuming location. Right next to the A666 and the M60, behind a school. While that means it cannot boast a beer garden etc, the atmosphere inside is very welcoming. Clean, calm, cozy but certainly not morose. Nice place for a family meal or a meeting with friends as it's possible to hold a conversation. In some neighbouring pubs that's not a given, but yeah I realise that makes me sound old! The food is good value and the service is very friendly. Especially recommend the pies, cold cider and sorbets after - yum.

We went here on Sunday with our 4 year old granddaughter for lunch.
Staff are great, especially Danielle, tables and customers spaced out even though it was busy. There was a good atmosphere with reasonably priced drinks and food. Large outdoor seating/smoking area with tv and heaters. Plenty of covid-19 precautions in place, facemasks are required to enter the pub and need to be worn whenever you aren't seated at your table. Asked to complete the check in and use hand sanitizer before being allowed into the bar/restaurant. Fantastic place, I would definitely recommend it, and the Sunday dinner was amazing!
Just had a fantastic family meal at the Golden Lion. Everyone loved the food, and the drinks ( Holt’s Crystal). Everything was served by their super friendly staff. Highly recommended
Been coming here now for at least 2 years and never had a single problem. The staff are rather friendly, professional and they also go out of their way to keep the customers happy. The food is always immaculate! It always come piping hot, well presented and the taste always exceeds expectations. A well deserved 5* review from me and mine 👍🏻

Went to this place about 3 weeks ago. Honestly the best place for a Sunday roast in Swinton. Loved it. Worth a visit
A lovely friendly pub, very welcoming staff. I went for the Thursday special curry club as it came with a free pint the Madras was very mouth watering, good sized pompadoms The food was very appealing and very tasty, served by a waitress with a smile and as I pulled my napkin from the holder I was very surprised the size of it a very well wanted napkin

Stumbled on this place when our usual place was full a couple months ago and have been back 3 times since. The food is really good and good value. Wouldn’t eat a roast anywhere else.
Not been in here for some time but wasn't disappointed with there delicious food. The staff are all very friendly go out of there way to serve you and help in anyway they can. Very clean place too. 10/10 from us.

Great food, good selection of holts beers. Fair prices and a beautiful interior. They also talisker 10 so for me anywhere that sells top notch single malt is worth a visit
