This is where I would love to go for authentic North Indian food at Manchester, such a lovely place to be. Good Food & nice ambiance. They're courteous to prepare dishes of my choice even though it was not available in the Menu.
Good service, really nice food that is well priced and good sized portions - was recommended by friends who eat here regularly and it didn't disappoint - just watch out for the obligatory adding of a service charge without mention! (even for 2 people!)
Indian food away from India! The food although is blended as per the British taste, but still it tastes much better than many of the Indian restaurants there! Must try is the Hyderabadi biriyani! Overall a must try restaurant!
If you are in Manchester and like Indian food then search no more just eat food here. Most Authentic Indian food place.
Centrally located, Nice and fancy place.
Butter chicken , biryani and Dal makhni is worth a try.
Place gets very crowded at dinner time so try and book a table.
The Manager and owner always make effort to engage and help you decide. Though service is slow.
Overall good experience. Would recommend this place.
Dined in this place while in Manchester. Tucked in some good food to satisfy my curry craving. Staff were polite and the food was served pretty quickly, served hot and fresh. Swadesh is in the center of the city close to China town. Not at all difficult to locate in Deansgate area.
The starters such as Aaloo Tikki had more salt and oil than required. The Subz Biriyani too was a little oily than expected. The taste of food was intact though.
The place gets crowded pretty fast. So its better to book a table beforehand. They have take-away option as well.
Nice place for having Indian food. Reasonably priced. Conveniently located. Worth a visit.
Check the price of still and sparkling water bottles though, before ordering! ;)

The food here is nice. I find Swadesh to have one of the best and most authentic Indian food in Manchester which is a bit rare to find. Their Dal Makhni is worth a try. But the only problem I faced there were not much staff, on two occasions it took us almost 15 mins to get hold of the menu and another 30 mins to place the food. And by any chance you to place an additional order that's next to impossible.
Not many people know it there is a 10% discount for students, you have to let them know.
The ambience is nice. Great Indian food. Do try there Dal makhani and Paneer.
Try getting there on time, the place is really crowded during dinner time.

Best Curry in Greater Manchester. What can I say. I love my curries but this stood out by a mile. We went for the pre theatre menu which was £8.95 each. The place is spotless ans the staff are fantastic and make the whole experience special. I had the Sheek Kebab for starter which was cooked to perfection followed by the Chicken Madras which was the best curry I've ever had. No grease, just perfection with the right heat. The manager and owner made an effort to engage with the diners and the whole experience was perfect.
Went just as it was about to close . They looked after us the food was really good. Watchout for the cheese'n chilli nan bread it's hot. Service was excelent . Drinks reasonably priced
I enjoy my Indian food, that's a fact, and coming to the UK, I was surprised at the abundance of Indian joints. Never too hard to spot them, and this one was just a 10-mintue walk from my hotel, so I gave it a try.
I thought the place was rather nice, quite fancy which reminded me of Gazebo restaurant in the UAE - I also expected the quality to be the same. I was quickly given a table for one and attended to, amicably. Looking over the menu, they had quite a selection - not too much on the biryani bit, though - and so I opted for the chicken tikka for starters, chicken tikka masala and boiled rice for mains. Pappadums were served along with my appetizer, which I thought would be a complementary thing from the restaurant, but was eventually charged. I thought they could have done better by fire roasting the papps. My chicken tikka was beautifully cooked, retaining it's succulence which complemented the char on the outside. It was nicely spiced and tasted very well with the chutney. I was a bit disappointed at the chicken tikka masala because it was not spicy as it was supposed to be . Coming from the UAE where Indian cuisine is done at its best, I had a different palate than those of the Western. I thought the tikka masala was too washed down of its spices and lacked some fire. The fact that they also served "boiled" rice instead of "steamed" rice was also a wee bit of a bother for me. Perhaps you might think of me as a fussy diner, but it's just different when you've had the authentic taste first, so then you start to compare everything else with it. I also ordered a mango lassi with my meal, as you can never have Indian food without a mango lassi to cool it down, or so I thought it would be spicy.
Overall, it was an okay experience, just lacked authenticity. A bit overpriced, too.
I am obsessed with Indian food but at the same time quite skeptical about trying out new Indian restaurants for a simple reason - I do not like curries made out of three sauces how they typically are made in most 'balti houses'. I only like authentic Indian food so no madras/onion bhaji/punjab for me as funnily these curries don't even EXIST in India. I went to Swadesh and had an incredible dining experience. You might think they do - modern fusion Indian food because of the rather fancy interiors but they stick to the basics and they do it really well. Centrally located - great food - great ambiance - slightly expensive but honestly I am willing to shell out a bit more for authentic India food.
A great Mother’s Day treat! We’ve been here once before but came again today, food was plentiful, tasty and well priced. All the staff were amazing especially Hossain who went above and beyond to make me feel special on mothers day.
We came here as a last minute plan for my husband's 30th Birthday and we are so glad we came here! The food was lovely, and the service was good too. We got the mixed platter for starters, it was a bit pricey for what you get but it was still nice. We got the Butter Chicken for mains and this was really nice! We both thoroughly enjoyed it. The Mango Lassi was nice too, a tad on the thick side but had good flavour. We both got mocktails and these were really nice too, the strawberry and mango one was one of the best I've had at any resturant. To end the night the waiters were so lovely, we were about to leave, and they brought a little cake and a turban for my husband and sang happy birthday to him! I wish I recorded it as it was a lovely little memory! Thank you for making his 30th special 💕
lamp korma is really unmissable 😍
The food was really nice
The service wasn’t that good as I saw different tables they’ve been received some pre appetizers like paper bread and it’s sources
also, when he bring our plates and fork and knives, it’s like he’s throwing this on our table and he dropped the fork twice. Also he did the same once he came to take the plates.
Other than that the food was really good and really amazing

Dining Experience @ Sangam Restaurant.
.
Established by Mohammed Salim in 1991 and named after a 1964 Bollywood romance movie, the Sangam Restaurant has grown from a popular curry house to several outlets across the city.
.
Ambience evokes wild nature. Most evident in the wall-to-ceiling mural of a tiger, while other walls feature exotic animals and faux greenery. Warm lights cast a yellow hue over the modern cushioned seats and marble tables.
.
Service is attentive and discreet, with staff according each table personalised attention. They take and fulfill orders relatively fast, and offer to clear finished plates throughout the meal. Experience varies, with some of the junior staff in training.
.
Food is exquisite Indian cuisine, rich in flavours from spices. The menu is extensive, catering to most dietary preferences. Portions are large, designed for sharing. Prices are relatively affordable, budget about GBP £28 per person.
.
The Papadum (GBP £2.10) here is wonderfully light and crispy, shattering nicely. Carries grainy earthy savoury spice flavour, quite addictive.
.
The signature Chicken Tikka Masala (GBP £14.90) has chunky tender pieces of boneless marinated and roasted chicken thigh, in a creamy thick curry gravy of fresh tomato and spices. This has lovely smoky meaty savoury salty vegetal sweet spice flavour, yum.
.
Loved the Biryani Samundri (GBP £19.90), with its fragrant aroma and fluffy spiced basmati rice, together with a generous portion of springy deshelled king prawns. Garnished with strips of ginger, this carries grainy earthy sweet savoury spice flavour.
An upscale looking but reasonably priced indian restaurant. The decor makes it possible to have a variety of events here from dates to hanging out with friends though it can feel a bit pretentious at times.
The food is good quality, not the best curries in Manchester, but flavorful and well presented.
I recommend the tiger prawns and the lamb curries. The top spice level is hot but, as advised by the waiter, if you have a decent spice tolerance and like hot sauce or are familiar with indian cuisine, you should be fine.
The cocktails are lovely and well-presented but the bartender could be a bit more generous with the spirits.
The first time we visited was back in November, and we had a drink at the bar while waiting for a takeaway, and loved the ambiance and the friendly staff. The food we had then was flavoursome and very enjoyable. We said then that when we returned to Manchester we would definetly book a sit down meal.
We returned this evening with our 2 children and enjoyed a fantastic meal, and once again the staff were so friendly and accommodating.
Our mains were a variety from mild to spicy, but all were very tasty. Lal Maas, dal makhani, chicken kasni and chicken tikka massala. We enjoyed the mains with popadoms, keema rice, plain rice, naan and chips. Everyone enjoyed their food…. a lot. When back in the area we will be sure to return. Family friendly restaurant with a great ambiance and decor. Highly recommend. Thank you.
Food was so amazing and authentic, the staff were so welcoming and friendly. Place looked amazing and very photogenic +clean. Would defiantly go again

Absolutely fabulous service! We arrived 10 minutes before close, after unsuccessfully trying to find a spot for dinner and being turned away from many places. Ifty was happy to serve us and provided many great recommendations of things to do around Manchester. Food was top notch as well!
