Loads of different beers, awesome pies and great staff. Love this place but we always end up in there for about 5 hours even when we go in for a quick drink! Funny that.....
As ever the pies were scrummy and the Pi IPA was delicious. Nowhere better on a rainy afternoon, or any afternoon really.
Excellent. Great beer, lovely pies and friendly staff.
Amazing food loved it cant wait to go and try a differant pie.
Awesome pies, and great friendly service.
Why Pi works so well, is that from the off they had a great idea and stuck to it. Pies and beer are such a perfect combination, it's mad that nobody thought of doing it before. They've always had a good choice on the extensive beer menu, including rarer gems like German Schlenkerla Smokebeer and my favourite Christmas beer ever Delirium Nocturnum.
What makes the Pi stand out amongst all the cafes in Chorlton is its menu of perfect home-made pies (and of course that justifies the name too).
The place smells amazing with the combined aroma of coffee and freshly baked pies.
Check for the day's specials on the board. I tried the cheese and mushroom pie, with a side of mushy peas. The pie is individual size and hence might be difficult to share. The pie was perfect, hot in the centre, and the peas were a perfect accompaniment.
I am not a huge critic of coffees, hence to me the coffee was quite good.
The ambiance is laid-back, just like a neighbourhood cafe should be.
Overall, a good place for a quiet date and to satisfy that pie-craving you have.
Great selection of beers. Really nice atmosphere and friendly staff. Good range of pies including vegetarian options.
Good Pies and excellent beer selection!
Pi is a lovely *little* place with great beer and quality food. Happily providing treaters, the bar staff are knowledgeable and friendly.
Don't go with a big group expecting a table, if you're more than 4 people you may struggle. Pie Minister's menu makes it a great lunch spot
Pie minister pies and decent world beers. What's not to like? Much made of the beer selection - full menu etc - but very little that's unusual in reality. Big brand, world selection really. Guest cask ales - ltd keg selection. Staff always good. Free nuts with beer. Great little neighbourhood joint.
Wonderful atmosphere. Busy and dimly lit. A huge array of beers and ales. Incredibly filling pies and sides. Done simply but well. Were more than happy for us to bring the big dog in. Highly recommend!
Pi is one of my favourite bars to go to. It's small but perfectly formed and has a lovely quiet and relaxed crowd most nights. It has probably the best taste in music I've ever heard in a pub, they keep on playing great songs again and again. You'll hear the likes of The Rolling Stones, Neil Young and The Beta Band, its not too loud either. An incredible selection of bottled beer from all around the world, along with draft and cask, and free peanuts with every round! Pieminister Pies are served up, with mash and peas extra and you can have some homemade cake for pudding too.
After a long bike ride we decided to take a brake at the renowned Pi that had been recommended by colleges for some time now. The service was excellent, we we're able to sample a few beers before we made our choice and the food was excellent and fresh! Well worth a visit if you enjoy your beer and love home made Pie's!. We will be back...
Beautiful pie, mash and gravy.. great atmosphere and service
One of a small chain of pubs in the north west. Opened some years ago, and probably set the trend in bars that came after it on this part of Manchester Road. Very small interior with steps up to the bar area. The front part can probably seat about 20. There is a good outside drinking area too. Good bar.
Long time loved from Glastonbury's of the past I was very happy to find a pub that served pies from s well known pie company- the mash is so delicious! Pi is quite small and it does get busy at the weekends, but there are great beers on tap and bottle and the staff are friendly.
Great Beer selection (around 8/12) and Pi now offer a house Ale, Pi-PA made in collaboration with Runaway Brewery and it's delicious!
Pi has lost some of its warmth and charm lately. Gone are the walls filled with vintage signs and memorabeerlia - replaced with grey paint and small framed pictures and no music playing on a Friday night?
As for Pie - can't be faulted on flavour but we all got the feeling that our Pie's had seen the Microwave or something similar. Soggy pastry, molten hot centre, served in under 10 minutes. Tasted great but it wasn't what we expected from a Pie and Mash hotspot.
Staff were cool, friendly and on-it - busy as with no queues or waiting around.
My Local Boozer. This place is a great little bar, massive selection of bottled beers & constantly changing real ale on tap.
Simple, no frills menu. Pie, mash, peas, gravy. In any combination you wish.
Can be a bit cold in winter.
I feel a bit mean not giving full marks for Pi as it's one of my favourite places to go for a drink. Great choice of regular and guest ales and lagers. Complementary peanuts are a nice touch with every round at the bar. May favourite ale is the Tatton Blonde and my partner always has the Lindeboom pilsner which is also very nice.
Decent pint and music. Food a bit over proceed
There was a period of my life when I practically lived on Pi's pies... I had a particularly turbulent job at the time, so each evening when I knocked off work, about 8 colleagues and I would pile inside, squash ourselves around a table and rant over real ale & warm food. Pies and massive selections of beer are it's speciality, so if that is what you are in the market for - it's perfect. It is a little cramped but that is part of its charm.
Great bar in Chorlton. Friendly staff who will let you try the beers before you order. Large outside area where you can sit and watch lots of people with beards and no socks walk past.
Great place with decent beer and friendly staff
Absolutely love this place. Great Athmosphere, excellent selection of beers and awesome pies (with mashed potato, mushy peas and gravy). Also vegetarian and vegan friendly.
