Lovely place, beautiful live music, a little bit of a get away from busy life in the middle of Manchester. I’d recommend it to anyone who needs a break from the surrounding city rush. Also the best chai I’ve had so far.

Great little cafe/bookshop in Manchester Northern Quarter. The staff are really lovely (they'll always have a smile or three for you!) Food selection might be limited (it is a cafe!), but each dish I've tried so far is amazing. Great tea selection, good quality coffee and good selection of books. I'd highly recommend it as a place to chill alone or with mates and to do work.

Popular study and work spot! Cosy space to spend hours of your day in. Different seating styles to choose from. A relaxing and de-stressed environment with dim lighting. Nicely decorated with books and cute flowers. Enjoy some coffee, tea, and cake to boost your productivity. Not the best place for a full meal, only snack portions. Can be busy during exam season. Central location. Great place to read and catch up with projects. Perfect for solo and couple dates. Dog-friendly. Excellent service. Friendly and welcoming staff, always smiling. Never makes you feel like you are overstaying. Vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free & dairy-free options are available. Instagram Links: Cafe @ChapterOneBooks Reviewed by @cesamargaux

Friendly bookshop / coffee shop with a range of interesting foods too. Slightly pricey for drinks but tasty. App order via QR code on table makes it easy. Advised food would take 30 min but actually waited 40 min+ and no apologies. Maybe look at the service times and what can be done about this at busy times? Lots of people chatting, chilling, playing games. Pet friendly. Clean gender neutral toilets. Would probably come back with friends so we could chat while waiting. Sat alone today and got a bit bored.

I recently had the pleasure of visiting Chapter One Books in Manchester, and I must say, it left quite an impression. The atmosphere in this cozy coffee place was simply wonderful, making it a perfect retreat, especially on those rainy days. One of the highlights for me was the food. I thoroughly enjoyed my breakfast; it was delicious and well-prepared. The coffee also met my expectations, which is a must for any coffee lover. What sets Chapter One Books apart is the exceptional service. The staff was friendly and attentive, going the extra mile by serving everything at your table, a rare and appreciated touch that not many coffee places offer. However, I’m giving it 4 out of 5 stars for a couple of reasons. The food did take a bit longer to arrive than expected, even though the place wasn’t very busy. Additionally, I found the prices a tad on the expensive side, especially the £5 latte. Nonetheless, these minor drawbacks aside, Chapter One Books is undeniably a great place. If you’re looking for a spot to relax, read, or work while sipping on a cup of tea or coffee, this place should be on your list. It provides a welcoming ambiance, tasty food, and a friendly staff that make it a worthwhile visit. I’d recommend it, particularly for a cozy escape on a gloomy day in Manchester.

Very ambient and relaxing environment, every corner of the cafe is photogenic and unique. 5 stars for the environment itself. Coffee was okay, would love to try other cake and coffee too.

(Visited Apr 24) It’s NEVER easy to get a table in here, but luckily I asked two people if they would split a four-seater they just got. Since it was a Friday, I ordered a special- the Lavender Matcha Latte. A boujie treat! (Visited Jan 23) I’m back for another vegan hot chocolate! The choice of plant-based milk is fab. I also treated myself to a slice of chocolate orange jaffa cake- succulent and delicious. Unfortunately, it’s often difficult to get a table since the place is so popular (and is in a very central location). - I got a comforting vegan hot chocolate (with oat milk) and a cheeky slice of cake. A great selection!

Best chai latte in Manchester! I love the decor and it has a selection of games to play if that’s your thing. My favourite city centre cafe to read in but it can get very noisy.

Vibes are great but coffee quality and cake quality ( apart from the karak tea) is appalling and not value for money. Its a coffee shop with bad coffee :( so wouldn’t come here for the taste. I come here all the time and honestly the vibe is perfect. Especially the new library room they got going on. But …. Since I’m here all the time it’s a shame I can’t eat the food . I’ve tried and every time I feel like I’m wasting my money. I really just want them to get an actual baker in or a basic trained chef that can make basic homemade nibbles so I can enjoy and actually eat something when I’m here . Or why not partner with a Manchester local bakery like ‘ Piccadilly bakes ‘ and get some gorgeous independent community and renowned business in? It doesn’t have to be fancy or a really niche flavour of cake like they usually do. They’d be better doing classic cakes but to a good standard than such a wide variety of very low quality ones. Honestly greggs and Macdonalds coffee tastes better! It is such a shame !!!! I want to write this review as hopefully, not too harsh but constructive criticism for the owner in hope I can actually enjoy their food and coffee one day!! Then it would be the no1 place in Manchester hands down. They are an asset to Manchester culture nevertheless but js js js the food and coffee is , politely , awful and they just need some new suppliers ! Please !! From a regular xx

A cute chic place to chill, get some work done, or even go for food. There are an impressive amount of halal, gluten free and vegan food and the milk alternatives are excellent. I had the choco chai and it was delicious!
