The Himalayas doesn't look much from the outside, and the part of Levenshulme it is in doesn't scream "great food" but this restaurant is a real undiscovered gem!!! The vegetarian thali was amazing as was my Tikhey Jinghey (Prawns in a rich, gingery prickly sauce) was splendid... this is how all Indian restaurants should be but rarely are... worth a trip to Levenshulme!

Best Curry in Manchester. It's maybe not as big as Nawaab in stature, but it sure is in taste!

Louisa. Simply the best food out of Nepal!

We left New Himalayas with full bellies and big smiles; food-wise this second visit was actually EVEN BETTER than the first. As our favourite waiter wasn't in, the service lacked the magic of last time but was still very efficient and friendly. We are so happy with our brand new local and will be sure to make the most of it this time. Being the kind souls that we are, we don't mind you coming and using our local too though, as long as you don't steal our waiter off us.

Consistently great food. We've been going for 15 years. Lots of vegetarian options, fresh tasting, interesting specialties. Service can be slow at busy times. I don't care. Really Good value too.

Moved to the local area a year ago from Leeds. We are particular about our curry and have tried a lot of places in the surrounding area searching to find somewhere authentic. Our search ended when this place was recommended. On our first visit we requested something off the menu (my wife loves a Karahi) and it was superb. This place doesn't look all that, but the food is class and the staff are very humble and undemonstrative. Great food and great value and in my experience that's not easy to find. Love this place. I don't care if you don't go because that means I will get a table, but I write this review because I think they deserve it on value and quality.

Absolutely fantastic food, but be warned - if you go when it's busy, this restaurant has some of the most inept waiting staff on the planet. I was with a group of six, we all more or less ordered the same thing, their executive banquet, and two of them were wrong. I then got into an argument with the waiter when he said it was fine, mostly due to his inability to tell the difference between fish and chicken - no, really - and even if it wasn't wrong, we got there before 7pm and didn't actually receive our food until after 9. The food here is fantastic, but avoid the place like the plague on the weekends.

This is hands-down the best takeaway I have ever had. The restaurant is also excellent, really delicious food at very reasonable prices. Gets busy but worth waiting for, take away not always available so need to pick up but always worth it!

After being let down by taste and service of other takes aways, we thought we would try here and we couldn't of been happier from the starters to the main course everything tasted fresh and delicious we couldn't fault any of it. It was delivered when stated and piping hot. Think we have found our new favourite take away and will definitely be ordering again and will highly recommend to all who ask 😊

Don't be put off by the unassuming exterior of this restaurant inside is a fantastic little place that serves up some lovely food, the onion bhajis in particular were very tasty and gigantic too. The prices were more than reasonable and it has a nice relaxed atmosphere the only criticism I could offer is that sometimes the service is a little slow but when everything is cooked fresh and made with so much skill you can forgive them.

Totally reliably great food every time. Staff are lovely and we always get looked after well, along with a delicious meal. The starters are anazing as are the lamb chops ... and the tikhey jingey is outstanding!!

Great food, fairly priced. UnIike many 'Indians', Himalaya (the clue is in the name) is actually a Nepali restaurant. Without much fanfare, and having the rather dubious location, being next to a knocking shop, and across the road from mighty mughal nawaab, the food here is fantastic. Yes, as other reviewers have noted, the interior is rather lacklustre and rather dark, perhaps thankfully avoiding the slick, garish 'fusion' pastiche seemingly favoured by the majority of modern Pakistan restaurants and takeaways. However the food more than makes up for this. Yes the staff are taciturn, and yes, the food waiting times can be lengthy even if the place is quiet (my father has blacklisted it for this reason), but I doubt you'd be disappointed with a visit here, unless you miss your neon water feature with your curries.

Really really good food and dishes I haven't experienced anywhere else . Recommended . Been coming here for over a decade probably getting on for two. Family run and great for both meat , fish and vegetarians . A locals secret that's a secret no more.

Two of us visited on a Sunday night recently. There was a large party (who kindly gave us some of their birthday cake) and a couple of other diners. The restaurant was comfortable and cosy, with background music. Staff were helpful and friendly, but the very best thing about the Himalaya was the food. I had vegetable biryani which was nothing like any biryani I've eaten before. It was the most delicious food I've ever tasted. My companion had dumplings in spicy sauce, also amazing. The side dishes were excellent too. Highly recommend this restaurant.

Not a place to go for the decor, or for speedy service. But for curry outside of town, it should be on your list. On my last visit I had Tandoori chicken sizzler, well cooked and tender with a tasty curry sauce. They also do takeaway and they are on JustEat. As I write this I am wondering why I haven’t taken advantage of that before!

Can't get enough of this place. We went last night and were feeling like six-dinner Sids and had a curry craving that only Himalaya could satisfy. Went for the 'executive banquet' at £16 a head. That could sound a bit dear but it includes poppadoms, about 7 starters (a generous taste of each), a selection of mains including meat and prawn curries and dahl, rice, naan (which were unreal, not those soggy chewy types) and a variety of Kulfi for dessert. It was a top button-undoing occasion, but it was so, so good. I can't recommend it enough. Plus, they were more than happy to put anything we couldn't finish in containers so that's tonight's dinner sorted. Plus, if you drink alcohol, worth noting booze is really reasonably priced and the house red is actually pretty good.
