Visited the metropolitan at the weekend for the first time in 15 years! At one time this place was a regular haunt for me when living in south Manchester.

It was a real treat for me to return and I wasn't disappointed. It's still in my opinion one of the best pubs in Manchester and the atmosphere
Enormous pub tastefully decorated with 3 cask ales on offer - the ubiquitous Landord and a couple of lesser known ales. Welcoming bar staff and an extensive menu. I made the mistake of sitting in the Dog friendly area and all I could hear is woofing and barking.
Admittedly it was advertised that it’s the Dog friendly section so next time I will sit the other side of the pub.

Lovely warm welcome after long walk from Sale. Pleasant bar staff and reasonably priced drinks. Had booked a table and it was ready on arrival, located in very pleasant light and airy sun room at rear of pub. Food orders were taken efficiently and received within 15 minutes. We went for a Sunday lunch and all of the food was delicious, great beef and Yorkshire puddings.
The service was fantastic and Rebecca was the most friendly and attentive server, despite clearly having a lot of big tables to wait , we were never kept waiting. Thanks Rebecca :)

Did give the Metropolitan a 4 star rating initially, but on second thoughts and after a comparison with other places I'd given a 4, it is really a 5 star. I've visited numerous times and found the choices of food to be better than many others. Also setting and comfort of a high quality. Fair choice
