Brilliant little independent. We always enjoy eating in Azzurro. The food is always incredibly tasty. Can highly recommend any of their seafood. The interior is small, cosy, plenty of candlelight..and it's reasonably priced too.
My favourite Italian. I've only recently discovered Azzurro & I keep re-booking. I think their food strikes the perfect balance. It is SO tasty (every dish I've wanted to lick the plate), they use plenty of fresh herbs & everything seems homemade. They are not pretentious though. It's rustic- reminds me of Jamie's italian but tastes better! Their fish & seafood is to die for. Now, they've started doing a Steak Night on most Fridays when their steak is only Β£10. That seems a great deal to me for a Friday Night. Looking forward to my next meal at Azzurro!
Amazing seafood, friendly staff, lovely relaxed atmosphere. A must for anyone who appreciates great food!
Fab meal. Fantastico ! had amazing meal here .seafood to die for .fab service and authentic italian food.all i can say is go there !
GREAT RESTAURANT. Man! This is seriously tasty food. anyone who hasn't tried Azzurro, you don';t know what you're missing
Probably the best food in West Didsbury
True Blue. There's no lack of local competition in the culinary hotspot of DIdsbury and this tiny Italian named after the national football team plays in the top league. The menu is limited but good and the service friendly and efficient. Its priced more for special occasions than casual dining although there's an early-bird menu that's excellent value - book to be sure of a table at weekends.
From our trip to Azzurro we learnt an important lesson, you don't need to look for the cheesiest Italian restaurant with candles stuck in wine bottles and faded portraits of the Coliseum to find delicious, hearty and homely Italian food cooked with love. This was the best Italian meal we've had in Manchester so far and would definitely return. I'm really glad we have so many clever Twitter followers who tell us about the great places to eat - thanks trusty Twitter!
I love going to Azzurro and have been for years now. It's small setting is perfect for dates and if you have a bigger party they push the tables together for you and hey presto, that's just as great too. With a modern interior, low lighting and lots of relaxed customers there always seems to be an intimate and friendly feel to the place.
The owner Emin seems to be a really friendly guy and couldn't do enough for us when we went last time. But, let's get to the most important part, the FOOD! They always have a good board of specials on, which includes the fish of the week, whilst the permanent menu has some great classics. They really know how to cook a great Bistecca, and the mussels I had for my starter in a white wine sauce are the best I've had in Manchester.
I wouldn't recommend going during the week though as it's always pretty dead and so is the atmosphere, but if you like Italian food Friday and Saturday night are a good choice.
Azzurro is a lovely independent Italian restaurant on Burton Road that always seems to be bustling with patrons. It's a good example of well-made traditional dishes in a modern, clean setting (although I'd prefer more rustic decor to match the food, so hard to come by these days).
The menu itself is mostly made up of pasta, fish and meat dishes, and whilst it's quite short, there's a blackboard with daily specials that always has something that stands out. The last time I came here I tried the Penne Senese: penne pasta with Tuscan fennel salami, walnuts, brandy, cream and parmesan. It was heavenly. I also tried some of my date's Tuscan style wild boar meat stew, a little more expensive than my dish at Β£13.95 but well worth it, it melted in my mouth.
The service was a little slow when I came here but the smiles and the overall atmosphere more than made up for it, and anyway, we were in no rush.
Came across this restaurant by chance. Reviews were mixed, but I wanted to try for myself. I love small local businesses and wanted to support.
Walking in the atmosphere was nice, chilled, and intimate. We were seated straightaway.
Had a little time to go over the menu, which had plenty of options. The food smelt amazing.
Ordered out starters, which was so tasty I could have eaten two plates!
Now, with the mains, we waited nearly an hour for them to come out! I did have to ask the waitress where they were, to which she responded politely that were busy, but it was a long wait. I was a little uncomfortable on the chairs as there was no cushion support, considering they were solid wooden chairs, I had to stand up at one point to relieve myself. Something to consider, especially if the wait is long between courses.
The main courses were nice, that made up for the delay and the dessert was also delicious.
Overall, a good experience apart from the wait and the food was authentic. I would go back maybe on day they are not so busy.
This is a really special small Italian restaurant serving traditional and modern Italian cuisine. We all had the sea bream special which was absolutely amazing. I could have eaten everything on the menu! The small team work hard to make it a really enjoyable evening. Highly recommend this little gem of a restaurant.

Wow ,what can i say absolutely amazing the staff the food the restaurant π we loved it and will be back one of the best in the North west 100% well recommended π
Great night. We were running late but they accommodated the hours delay. Food very nice and a great atmosphere. Chief/owner came out at the end of the night to have a chat which was a nice personal touch.
Would recommend to anyone who like Italian food
Independent restaurant in a lovely location with a warm atmosphere. The food is freshly prepared and is full of Italian flavours. I will certainly recommend a visit, if you like genuine food prepared in style.
A gem of a restaurant in West Didsbury. It retains its charm in an area that has otherwise become over commercialised with cut-and-paste bars and bland food joints.
Azzuro is family run; Emil and his team have put together a delightful menu with great flavours. The atmosphere is relaxed and unhurried. A place to go to enjoy food and drink in convivial surroundings
We love the seafood and fish dishes here: no other place offers such food locally.
We need more places like this in West Didsbury π
I have been to Azzurro Ristorante on quite a few occasions. I cannot praise the staff enough, they are so friendly and helpful. The food is second to none, if you want a place to enjoy food and company without shouting over the music than look no further.
Perfect small family restaurant with good food and lovely atmosphere.
Really lovely independent, the kitchen is small so food took a little while to come out but the waiter was really honest from the start about this, but definitely worth the wait.
Lovely atmosphere, nice food although my steak was over cooked- I like it medium rare and it was definitely medium well. Enjoyable crab starter. Good house red. We will recommend & return. Thanks!
Perfect small family restaurant with a super atmosphere. Service was nicely judged attentive without being over the top. And all the food we had was lovely. We did see people turned away. So advisable to book to avoid disappointment. One thing that does puzzle me is that they only seem to open Friday and Saturday evenings. Would have thought in Didsbury would have had to open more days.
Never disappoints. Food and staff are excellent. Very relaxed dining experience, just what you need after a busy week. The food is always fresh and delicious. We cant wait to go back!
Been here a couple of times as I live quite nearby and it's always been lovely, the food is really amazing! It's a small restaurant so they don't have a lot of staff so when it's busy the service can slow a bit but they never seem to rush you out to turn over tables. The service could be a bit more friendly towards new people (very chatty and smiley with people they seem to know well) but overall very enjoyable.
We have twice had takeaways recently. I was sceptical about how well their menu would translate in to a take away, but I was wrong. The food was delicious, available on time, and just perfect to eat at home. Highly recommended. Thanks
We've eaten at the restaurant a couple of times and always enjoyed it. Wondered how the food would travel as a takeaway. Well, it was fabulous! So impressed. Food was piping hot when we served it up and so, so delicious. I had the cannelloni, husband had the pollo alla luca. Highly recommended.
