Gets very crowded around 6-7pm so best come a little early if possible. Duck is decent and is the most popular item on the menu with practically every table ordering it. The salt and pepper ribs or squid is good too and worth a try. Portions are on the larger side so consider that when ordering.
We visited as a friend wanted to try this place.
We ordered salt pepper pork chops, prawn won tons, three roast rice, duck soup noodles, black bean rib noodles and curry brisket rice.
The three roast portion wasn’t as generous as other restaurants I have been. The char siu was average but the duck and roast pork was nice.
The black been rib noodles had the wok hei, which gave it a really nice flaming flavour.
My least favourite was the noodle soup, it actually tasted a bit off, so was not a fan of it.
Overall I still think it’s overrated and been boosted by Instagram.
Simple the best Chinese in Manchester. I have been coming g here for a number of years and it has always been 10.
This place is really authentic and don’t be expecting fancy food with edible flowers. What sets happy seasons apart is the quality of the food as well as the fantastic friendly service.
Be warned there is always a queue so don’t be alarmed.
The wings are my go to but the seafood dishes along with the roast duck is stunning.
A must if you ever visit Manchester.
Honestly, one of the best places to eat Chinese BBQ. My favourite and recommend dishes to try are: Braised Beef Brisket & Tendon In Clay Pot and All the roast meats: Char Siu roast pork, Soya Chicken, Crispy Roast Belly Pork & Roast Duck Cantonese Style. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!! if you visit Manchester. <3 even the staff is very friendly and kind. There is usually a very long waiting line outside, so choose a time before it's too late at night as they also finish their roasts.
Rice with roast pork and roasted duck was delicious. Roast duck outer layer was well roasted and crispy while inner fresh was juicy and fat portion unbelievably delicious. WOW. 5 stars
Roast pork was well done. The outer layer was wonderfully roasted. But inner fresh, there was no clear 3 layer. 3 stars
The salted egg vegetable soup with pork slices was a great compliment to roast duck and roast pork ruce. 3 stars
The portion for roast pork abd roast duck was too much and sufficient for 2 persons' lunch.
No queue time at arrival. Serving within 5 minutes upon arrival. Super fast service
Stunning food @happy seasons China town, the 3 meats was amazing and the vermicelli prawns! Can't wait to come back and try sone much dishes
The food was surprisingly good! Chinatown in Manchester is pretty much only a block and a half. So Chinese food option is kind of scarce. This place is first come first serve concept. The no frills place makes up for its food. I definitely recommend the beef brisket noodle with vermicelli. You will love it! The service was friendly. Definitely check them out if you are in the Manchester area!
Simple design restaurant located just by the China town, I really enjoyed the food, so tasty, and the portions were really good, I think the price point as well were pretty good… in all I enjoyed coming here, I hope to visit when next u am In Manchester
First time, bit of a queue to get in (20 mins) but worth the wait! Very quick service… excellent food recommend as a veggie the “fake” chicken in black bean!!!! The best!
Pinot was an acquired taste… not the best but can’t fault HS for this
Very very good staff…
Excellent roast duck. Moist on the inside and crispy on the outside. Good no fuss chinese meal. Five star! Be prepared to queue though.
Manchester Chinatown is not a very big place, under the cold harsh weather recently in the mid West in UK, the queue line is visible and long.
When there is a queue in front of a restaurant, there must be good food. When I get closer to the restaurant, I saw the roasted duck from the windows and many people sitting inside the restaurant enjoying the meal while the queue does not mind waiting.
I know this is a restaurant that serve good duck food.
Pay a visit when you are there. I am sure you will not be disappointed.
Good portion for a hungry person. I got the 三烧饭 if ur wondering. You can actually skip the charsiew and go for the roast duck and roasted pork belly. They were fantastic i would go b again. The chilli oil costs 1£ extra tho
If you like Chinese food and not expect British manners, starter has to come first then main dish, this restaurant is quite a good idea with reasonable prices and quality. Roast duck was really nice, Alo Vera drink was good. You can park a car near by the walk only 1 minute. Atmosphere was like you eat in China. No knife and chips here.
The food is really delicious and the portion is good. Highly recommended for the one who like Chinese cuisine.
The only thing I was disappointed was the service of waiters.
Queued for a table and was well worth the wait. Ordered Mapo Tofu and Rice, was absolutely delicious. Highly recommend if you like spicy Sichuan food. Wait staff were very helpful and provided great service.
Delicious roast meats in the centre of the city. The duck is just perfect, unfortunately the noodles we had were not particularly flavorful and just lacked oomph.
Service in this place was as always friendly but brisk and you are left feeling rushed. Which to be fair is understandable as they want to turn the tables around as quickly as possible in this small establishment. So as long as you know you are visiting for the food and not the service you have your expectations set right.
Will happily be returning in the future
The best beef fried rice I ever had. Love the "wok hei" scent. The rest was just okay. Efficient services, seated, ordered and food served very quickly, recommended. Unfortunately, the roast duck was sold out when we got there. We'll definitely return for that. In terms of pricing, shared with 3 person, affordable. Although it was a long queue, it was worth the wait, happy to come again.
Short trip but a must for me, 3 roast rice, har gau and shiu mai. Exceptional food and the portions are huge, not your standard small bits from London. Highly recommended. Happy seasons, don't ever change, I will be back for more!
Cantonese classics executed perfectly. The mapo tofu had the subtle numbing szechuan pepper, wonderful crunch from the pickles, silky tofu, all in a porky and spicy bean sauce. This really hit the spot on a gloomy day.
Everyone comes for the roast meats, and I have to say it deserves the hype. The char siu was insanely tender and had decent charring from the sweet glaze, and the duck had an amazing flavour. Portion size for both dishes were GENEROUS!!!
The service was great too. The lady that served us said that they normally don't serve the mapo tofu on top of rice, but she made a special exception. Food didn't take too long to come out too. The tables around us ordered salt and pepper dishes too which looked amazing, but I was unfortunately way too full.
This is a must go destination in Manchester's Chinatown if you want honest, delicious, and generous Cantonese cooking.
