Great standard of pub food
Visited here on a bank holiday Monday and was impressed. Everything we ordered tasted lovely and fresh with a homemade feel. 50% off food on Mondays makes it more than worth the money as it’s not that expensive a menu even before the discount. The staff were friendly and gave a good service. I will definitely be back.
A great venue very centrally located in the northern quarter for a fabulous Sunday lunch
We were seated downstairs where you can actually see the chef preparing the food and the roast beef looked absolutely insane
The roast potatoes are cooked to perfection. Is the Yorkshire pudding lovely and fresh and crispy as opposed to have been sat there all day.
The portions are massive, even though we ordered a side of leek and broccoli cheese melt which is also absolutely divine .
The chicken was small though.
Something to bear in mind is they offer a bottomless brunch now so this place can get quite busy brunches are trying to get as many drinks in as possible service was clearly busy .
The staff are lovely and friendly, and I would definitely recommend this place for some good Sunday grub
Have been following BHT for a while on Instagram, and in a spur of the moment Saturday decision, decided to give it a whirl. The place is really nice, and reminds me of an old school English pub, with attentive staff who are quick to serve as well. A decent selection of ales is available at decent prices for the location, and the star of the show is the pulled beef pie! Different level honestly, and well worth a go.
Went for a roast dinner with a friend and the food was outstanding but the service wasn’t. Staff friendly but we waited a while to be given menus and our order to be taken. Our food came before my drink! The jug of gravy that comes with the food is crazy, so small. So when asked for more gravy, a big jug came but then when we got bill, discovered it was an extra £1.50. Gravy should be free!
Nice in the end but felt like I was being a nuisance when I wasn’t. Would go back if I’m ever in Manchester again :)
Great bar for drinks and tasty pubfood. Order at the bar, as online ordering is not available. Their fish and chips tastes really nice, not too greasy. The different craft beers are really nice, special recommendation is the Shindigger IPA. The bartender also gave us a good recommendation on gin and tonics. They have a seating area on ground floor and downstairs facing the kitchen. Food is 50% off on Wednesdays.
Dining Experience @ The Bay Horse Tavern.
.
Styled as a modern take on the humble pub, they quickly picked up awards for their delicious restaurant-quality dishes served in a cozy setting.
.
Ambience has plenty of classic pub character, including an antique feature fireplace, and decorated mantelpieces. The main bar on the ground floor features mustard-coloured chesterfields and teal banquettes, with tiled floors and a dartboard. Pop downstairs to find a cozy and intimate dining space, flanked by the open kitchen.
.
Service is friendly and efficient. Staff take and fulfil orders quickly, cleaning up efficiently when diners leave. Very welcoming, they also accomodate families with children.
.
Food is classic British English pub grub, from grazing plates to quick bites. Ingredients are locally sourced, dishes prepared from scratch. There's a good range of craft beers. Portions are medium sized for individuals. Prices are reasonable, budget about GBP £19 per person.
.
The Beer Bay Horse Pilsner (GBP £5.70) is the house craft brew, a refreshing tipple.
.
The Beef Steak & Ale Pie (GBP £12.50) features a medium-sized pie, with a flaky pastry pie crust dough carrying bready sweet savoury buttery flavour.
.
Within are chunks of beef chuck steak, white onions, and diced carrots, slow-braised with ale and beef gravy till everything turns tender and juicy, resulting in robust meaty salty savoury flavour.
.
The pie is garnished with crispy fried shallots, lending a light crunch and vegetal salty savoury flavour.
.
Served with creamy smooth mashed potato with starchy sweet savoury flavour, and chunky gooey mushy peas with vegetal grassy earthy sweet flavour. Completed with more beef gravy on the side.
Highly recommend going on a Wednesday for 50 percent off food - we also used the happy hour deal on drinks which is on till 7!
We had two cocktails each, I also had a pilsner, we shared a starter, onion rings and had a main each. Our bill was just under £50 for the two of us, which is amazing value for money.
The service was overall quite good, especially from the lovely girl behind the bar who took our food order. Food came a lot quicker than expected and was all really tasty and fresh. The chips and onion rings were unreal - we both really enjoyed our mains. However, we was disappointed at how tiny the portion size was for the pork belly small plate - 3 small pieces for £8 (without 50 percent off) seems a lot.
We would definitely return for the Wednesday deal as really good value for money in a lovely venue - would recommend booking rather than walk-in :)
Some of the best Bangers and Mash I’ve had here. Great vibe and lovely interiors. Wish we had more places like these in Berlin, Germany
Nice pub with a good selection of English pies and beers. The beef pie was delicious but the cheese & onion veg pie was disappointing and not cheesy. Also the broccoli was nice but not worth the price.
Thoroughly enjoyed my trip to Bay Horse Tavern. My work team and I came for their pub quiz but booked a table to have dinner beforehand. We sent in a pre-order as we were a large group and the staff were very accomodating and friendly when we arrived. Our food was served quickly too and it was absolutely delicious! Everyone enjoyed their meals and we were left very happy.
As we were joining the pub quiz, we were seated downstairs near the kitchen which meant we had to go upstairs to the bar for drinks. This wasn't really an issue, but it would have been convenient if their QR code worked or had wait staff so we didn't have to constantly go up and down.
The pub quiz was also very fun, we all had a great time!
Solid pub with good beer and nice atmosphere. Sadly, we were too late for lunch, but will try it next time.
