Had THE BEST meal here. So funny and such friendly staff. Definitely recommend and definitely coming back again soon. Thankyou :)
Attended the family funday and it was superb. Kids were kept entertained (along with us big kids) and, being aimed at family's, was relaxed even with excited children. Also at a great price, everyone was well fed and it let little ones try something new, in particular the sushi tasting (which they loved). Thanks Sapporo Teppanyaki.
Absolutely fantastic probably the best restaurant I’ve ever been to food was amazing chef cooked in front of us and entertained us
Fabulous food, wonderful ambience and chefs/staff are fantastic !!! An experience that shouldn’t be missed...Well done Teppanyaki !!! 👏👏👏
Gorgeous food. A bit pricey but worth it
Special place for food experience with friends and family!
Fantastic restaurant with a wide selection of food and also tasteful set menus. Large drinks selection perfectly made. Service was excellent with catering for dietary restrictions. Chefs were polite entertaining and skilled. Would definitely recommend.
The place is comfortable and clean. The staff are cordials. The ambience is spirited and entertaining. I ordered sushi which was fresh and mouth-melting.
Superb food, great location, what a show
Japanese food and Teppanyaki has always been a treat for me, when my daughter reported that her fellow students had discovered this restaurant in a lovely part of Manchester, I was hooked! I was not disappointed. The restaurant it in Castleford, the heart of old industrial Manchester, and a wonderful place to look around and work up an appetite! The restaurant is well laid out and staff welcoming, booking ahead is recomended. The food is stunning and the "show" by the chefs entertaining. We had sushi, sashimi and Teppanyaki sets as well. All uniformly excellent. Highly recommended
The food is cooked on a grill in the middle of your table by your own chef, the chef puts on a delightful show whilst preparing your meals making it great for children and adults alike. Food was amazing and can be tailored to your liking as the chef is so close, easily the best Japanese I've had and will never forget the experience highly recommend to everyone.
Incredible atmosphere and food!! We had a table of 9 and we were on one of the chefs tables where they cook in front of you, there were three/four smaller groups on the same table, it was quite a lot of fun.
I have the steak teriyaki, such an incredible dish alongside the fresh fried potatoes and veg. There is some great moves made by the chef who was very entertaining.
Would highly recommend!
With a name like Sapporo Teppanyaki, it would be rude to go with anything other than their teppanyaki on our first visit.. so we did. Sapporo have done well and expanded quickly with branches now in Manchester, Liverpool and Glasgow so they must be doing something right.
Its above average Japanese food, complete with an incredible experience by talented chefs while they chop, season, cook and serve each dish in front of you! Their finale move is setting fire to the grill that then erupts in flames.
They did well to keep our table of twenty happy, entertained and fed at all times, as I can imagine that big tables are not easy, but Sapporo seem to specialise in them at good prices.
Full review to follow..
Famous for their teppanyaki. I opted for their special Sapporo sushi (18 pcs) to share and their Sapporo style ramen noodle soup. All very tasty much to my delight. Not a huge fan of chains (they have restaurants in Liverpool and Glasgow too). But would definitely recommend.
Been here a couple of times, with work and with family. Both times enjoyable. Good food, good atmosphere and this place has defiantly got the entertainment factor.
A typical teppanyaki experience, and lets be honest that's what this is really about. The food is probably overpriced and only of average quality, but it is justified (rightly so) by the performance that comes with it. As long as you’re drinking to avoid the interaction from turning from cheesy, to persistent, to annoying! To balance my point about cost, I certainly didn’t leave here feeling hungry after a reasonable portion of meat and as many forms of carbs as they could squeeze in me (rice, noodles, fried potato).
Great experience. First time at a teppanyaki restaurant. We booked a table at 1pm but arrived early, and were able to be seated early. We went for the early bird menu which included starter, main and drink. Salmon was exceptional, large portion of fresh egg fried rice and veg. Chef Kenny was great! Staff lovely and attentive! Overall exceptional experience and will be returning!

Great food. Great service. Kudos to the chef for the cooking and performance. You’re in for a treat and a show watching the chefs doing their work.
Steak was on point with the medium rare. Salmon was tender. Sushi was great as well.
Chocolate orange was surprisingly good.
If only there are more portions for the sushi then it would be perfect for the experience.
We ordered a Samari tasting menu and a 2-courses lunch set. The food was more than enough for 2 person.
Chefs are experienced, the service attendants are polite and attention to details.
Toilets are clean. Overall an unforgettable experience. Will definitely be going again for celebrations or occasions.
Very good experience, will go back. The portions are big, but you can take whatever you can't eat home. Chefs table is the best, 1hr-40 min wait as they need the table to fill up with people. Excellent service. Chefs are friendly and so entertaining, lovely atmosphere.
Tasteful meal and great dine in experience. The main meals were cooked live on the cooker whereas the starters and soups are prepared in the kitchen. The downside was that the seating space was quite stuffy - It's as if you are sat close to the other people and the mocktails were watery. On the whole it is a delicious Japanese restaurant.
Great fun.
Chefs really knew their stuff and put on a good show.
Food was delicious and you can't really get fresher!
Highly recommend one of the tasting menus, the pace of food was just right.
Staff were very accommodating of dietary restrictions and recommended alternatives.
Very slick service all round.
Great experience with a large group! Would've expected a bit more of the fun tricks from the chef but was a Saturday night so understand they're busy. Food was pretty good, a little pricey but you do get a lot of food (rice/potatoes/veg) ended up way too much for most of us. It's fun and definitely worth trying
Highly recommended! Food was really delicious. Perfectly cooked. Service also efficient. Staff was friendly.
The food here is delicious. I love how the chefs cook in front of you and they always seem jolly. The lamb and chicken they serve are halal.
The fresh dessert of the day was an orange chocolate fudge cake which was super tasty.
Highly recommended if you live or are visiting Manchester. I would suggest you pre book, especially if you plan to visit on a weekend.
Sapporo Teppanyaki in Manchester offers a delightful dining experience, elevated by the outstanding performance of our chef, Kenny. His culinary skills were matched only by his entertaining and friendly demeanor, creating a memorable atmosphere. Kenny's expert handling of the teppanyaki grill not only showcased his talent but also engaged diners with flair. Additionally, our server, Jack, contributed to the exceptional evening with impeccable customer service. Attentive and friendly, Jack added to the overall positive impression of the restaurant. Beyond the stellar service, the food itself was a highlight, with an array of dishes showcasing impeccable flavors and skillful preparation. Sapporo Teppanyaki in Manchester, with its talented chef and attentive staff, stands out as a must-visit destination for those seeking an extraordinary dining experience.
It's a nice experience but you are on the clock from the moment you sit down till the last plate. It feels rushed and the food was okay but it won't blow you away it's more for the show what is good
My partner and I visited as we were in Manchester for the evening. We both opted for the ‘emperor’ tasting menu and vegetable tempura. There was so much food we had to take it home! Service was very fast, waiter was very attentive making sure we had enough drinks, great atmosphere and overall the food was great.
Only thing I would’ve liked was more variety in the flavours of the dishes E.g. something like teriyaki chicken, prawns with garlic etc
Chocolate spring rolls were an interesting and delicious option! Mango sorbet was alright but didn’t have as much flavour as I expected. Cake of the day looked good as did the cheesecake.
The food and atmosphere was great. Disappointed that the vegetables were cooked and plated 20 mins before your main dish and therefore were cold. The food was tasty but quite expensive. 3 course with a soft drink is £60 a head.
Place was great and very warming. Food was delicious with many choices and The entertainment was very funny.
I order a teppanyaki tasting set with lamb rump, chicken and sea bass as mains. The chef called Ben cooked the food in front of me. It was like a mini show that I enjoy so much. Food was delicious. As the chef was originally from Thai while I am also a fan of Thailand, he gave a a little bit of their home made Thai chili to try, it was superb! Service was also excellent, the waiter called Kyle who served me was very personal and helpful, he asked me if it was my first time to dine at the restaurant and gave me a thorough explanation of the menu.
Recommended! Don’t miss the Thai chili!
This place is the best for a fun interactive meal!
The chefs are so funny, the food is unreal, I couldn't get enough and I even got the name of the company that makes their biscoff cheesecake! Such a great night, left very happy and had a lot of fun with everyone on the table.
Been 4 or 5 times, food pretty good, certainly fresh cooked in front of you. This time, I went at a very busy time so a nice atmosphere. The 'entertainment' was not as good as it usually is (perhaps because it was busy?) The prices were a lot higher than previous and they added a service charge to the bill that I didn't see till after I paid. Parking is still a problem, but that's not their fault. Overall enjoyable meal and experience.
Amazing restaurant ... friendly staff, great service, and delicious food. Highly recommend and look forward to going back
Bit uncomfortable in this heat, but that can't be helped
This experience was epic! We came to celebrate our son's 11th Birthday as a family (also with us was a 6 year old). The service was amazing from start to finish with Juande as our waiter. He took time to provide an excellent service as well as give the boys attention to make their first experience of Japanese food a memorable one. Highly recommend for the food, atmosphere and family value it gives. Thank you
