Visited spontaneously with 11 people on a Sunday for Sunday roast and the food was fabulous! I had smoked salmon as starter and it was delicious. The roast beef was also really tender and the portion huge. The staff was really attentive and the person who greeted us at the door (the maƮtre I guess?), was really friendly and welcoming. I really enjoyed talking to him. I also love the decor of the restaurant. It looks great! Would definitely come again.

Visted here on Wednesday 23/8/17 to meet up with a family member I'd never had the pleasure of meeting. I've never been in before but found the surroundings excellent. Very attentive waitress who couldn't do enough for us. The wine and food was superb. The atmosphere was nice and relaxed. Well worth the visit and will definitely go back. Great night had by 6 happy people. Top marks, well done to all the staff. X

They listen. Not so many restaurants will respond to a bad review. This one does. The Chop House restaurants are quality. Sam's is warm and cosy. Mr Thomas's is boozy and fun. Albert's is best for Sunday lunch.

Had a beautiful meal here yesterday. The corned beef hash was delicious. For my dessert I had the dark chocolate and orange cheesecake. This was topped with honeycomb pieces. Absolutely scrummy. Service was good xx

British Brasserie. If they could sort out the temperature of the plates and the saucing on the chops, this would be darn fine. I liked the room, like a (high end) American steakhouse. Helped certainly by the fact we got seated in one of the cosy booths, despite being a two. There's some interesting (selling) art on the walls too, don;t know whether that's a regular thing.

Starters were pickled herring/anya pots/mustard/dill/chicory and scallops/belly pork. Both jolly dee. Himself had a hefty bacon chop (I'd have gone with the Barnsley or the veal meself) which came with some rather parsimonious chips, mushroom and tomato and no saucing. I had the famous corned beef hash. Great big dollop of the stuff with a soft poached egg to stir through. My it was gorgeous! (Wo)manfully I managed to finish the lot. A little side salad of fennel/grapefruit/endive.

We were never going to manage puddings after all that so had a nice little plate of chocs to close.

I really liked it - but then I've not been to the other Chophouses, so am just reacting to the menu and ambience in isolation. Service was twinkly but speedy (apart from when they put vodka in my Virgin Mary!) Will definitely be back next time we're at the Palace as it worked really well as a post theatre stop.

I have already recommended The Albert Square Chop House to several friends, and sent that wibbly custard tart picture to many more. The proof is in the pudding, literally. Go.

The smoked mackerel had a velvety texture and was complemented by the the pickled cucumber and ginger. The sharpness of the piccalilli was the perfect partner to the rich terrine.

The steak and kidney pudding was less substantial than I remember it, but it's been a while. Essentially, it's like a posh version of the ones you get in chippys, warm and comforting soft suet pastry and a meat filling with your own little gravy jug. No faults there for what it was. The chips were spot on too. A little surprisingly, the service was bang on, I mean much better than I expected it to be. Yes I enjoyed the newish Chophouse very much, the food's never going to set the world alight, but sometimes that's not what you need is it?

The Albert Square Chop House is located in the 150 year old, iconic, Memorial Hall building on Albert Square overlooking the town hall. It was apparently neglected for a decade but if thatā€™s the case theyā€™ve done an excellent job restoring it. Managing to maintain itā€™s Venetian Gothic charm whilst adding a modern post-industrial twist. Thereā€™s a bar area upstairs with the main restaurant downstairs where we were seated in one of the comfortable booths with a great view of the open kitchen.

One schoolboy error came in the form of ordering the ā€˜16oz, 28-day aged ā€œRibā€ of Beef Chopā€™ and receiving the ā€˜8oz, 28-day aged ā€œRib Eyeā€ Steakā€™ ā€“ maybe I mumble or perhaps the waiter just listens out for key words. At least the steak that arrived was cooked to my wifeā€™s liking and good quality.

Myself and my 2 children went here for a later tea. The service was welcoming, and the place was lovely. Quiet, maybe 3 tables were full, but the food was amazing. I had fish and I must say one of the best I've had in a very long time was soft, melted in your mouth and very tasty. Kids were also happy with the burgers for the kids' menu. Highly recommended šŸ‘ŒšŸ¼

Food was really lovely. I had hot smoked salmon and it was delicious. Wine was lovely too (red) I've marked atmosphere down slightly as it was a weekday at about 4pm during the Easter school holiday and in the main we were the only people in there. Having said that it was peaceful and relaxing and the ambience was lovely.

Delicious food, outstanding staff and great atmosphere. It's a bit pricey, but if you're willing to pay extra definitely consider it. Great location too.

I visited with a friend as a Confidentials voucher gave us a Ā£50 spend for Ā£25. I started off strong with the mushroom parfait starter, but the crab burger wasnā€™t as enjoyable. It may have been down to the other ingredients, but it just didnā€™t have enough of a predominant crab taste to me šŸ˜… Service was up to the mark.

Delicious food and drink. Friendly, pleasant staff. It was a quiet one but I'd love to come back for cocktails sometime when it's buzzy. Kudos to the new assistant manager Mikey too!

Great pub and nice food. We came on Thursday night and at one point were only ones there (surprisingly) which was nice, though music was very loud. It gave gentlemenā€™s club type of vibes. Some good deals on cocktails. We had sirloin steak and it was tender and soft.

We had a lovely meal at The Fountain House! Highly recommend on a week day for a quiet meal as there is a bar upstairs that has music on during the weekends. We had the beef bourguignon and the lamb belly chops as mains which were both delicious as well as the potted beef and bone marrow starter (very yummy). Lovely selection of cocktails as well and service was excellent! Will be returning soon!
