Absolutely love this place been for a hen do and for our anniversary meal.. both times 5* the food is gorgeous and such good value for money! Loved the 8oz rump and chunky chips! Cooked to perfection! Great atmosphere and great staff! Would definitely recommend! 🍽
Visited spontaneously with 11 people on a Sunday for Sunday roast and the food was fabulous! I had smoked salmon as starter and it was delicious. The roast beef was also really tender and the portion huge. The staff was really attentive and the person who greeted us at the door (the maître I guess?), was really friendly and welcoming. I really enjoyed talking to him. I also love the decor of the restaurant. It looks great! Would definitely come again.
Visted here on Wednesday 23/8/17 to meet up with a family member I'd never had the pleasure of meeting. I've never been in before but found the surroundings excellent. Very attentive waitress who couldn't do enough for us. The wine and food was superb. The atmosphere was nice and relaxed. Well worth the visit and will definitely go back. Great night had by 6 happy people. Top marks, well done to all the staff. X
Had dinner here on Sunday excellent staff service,Cocktails, food was outstanding would recommend here for a visit. Will definitely be back thank you for a lovely evening.
lovely place and bar food was excellent, service was fast and friendly.
Definitely recommend to all
Faultless service fabulous food impressive ambience
We visited the Chop House for a special occasion - and it lived up to our expectations Service was friendly and professional, the food excellent and I was impressed by its ambience - will definitely dine there again
Fantastic food and service to match It’s a really good atmosphere The chap playing guitar upstairs was lovely not too loud and just right Can recommend the roast beef simply wonderful
British Brasserie. If they could sort out the temperature of the plates and the saucing on the chops, this would be darn fine. I liked the room, like a (high end) American steakhouse. Helped certainly by the fact we got seated in one of the cosy booths, despite being a two. There's some interesting (selling) art on the walls too, don;t know whether that's a regular thing.
Starters were pickled herring/anya pots/mustard/dill/chicory and scallops/belly pork. Both jolly dee. Himself had a hefty bacon chop (I'd have gone with the Barnsley or the veal meself) which came with some rather parsimonious chips, mushroom and tomato and no saucing. I had the famous corned beef hash. Great big dollop of the stuff with a soft poached egg to stir through. My it was gorgeous! (Wo)manfully I managed to finish the lot. A little side salad of fennel/grapefruit/endive.
We were never going to manage puddings after all that so had a nice little plate of chocs to close.
I really liked it - but then I've not been to the other Chophouses, so am just reacting to the menu and ambience in isolation. Service was twinkly but speedy (apart from when they put vodka in my Virgin Mary!) Will definitely be back next time we're at the Palace as it worked really well as a post theatre stop.
I have already recommended The Albert Square Chop House to several friends, and sent that wibbly custard tart picture to many more. The proof is in the pudding, literally. Go.
The smoked mackerel had a velvety texture and was complemented by the the pickled cucumber and ginger. The sharpness of the piccalilli was the perfect partner to the rich terrine.
Really fabulous food. Starter was amazing, we both had lamb spring roll. We both had steaks and they were really good too. Lovely puddings. Lovely service. Great meal and we will definitely return!
Myself and my 2 children went here for a later tea. The service was welcoming, and the place was lovely. Quiet, maybe 3 tables were full, but the food was amazing. I had fish and I must say one of the best I've had in a very long time was soft, melted in your mouth and very tasty. Kids were also happy with the burgers for the kids' menu. Highly recommended 👌🏼
Food was really lovely. I had hot smoked salmon and it was delicious.
Wine was lovely too (red)
I've marked atmosphere down slightly as it was a weekday at about 4pm during the Easter school holiday and in the main we were the only people in there. Having said that it was peaceful and relaxing and the ambience was lovely.
Delicious food, outstanding staff and great atmosphere. It's a bit pricey, but if you're willing to pay extra definitely consider it. Great location too.
I visited with a friend as a Confidentials voucher gave us a £50 spend for £25.
I started off strong with the mushroom parfait starter, but the crab burger wasn’t as enjoyable. It may have been down to the other ingredients, but it just didn’t have enough of a predominant crab taste to me 😅
Service was up to the mark.
