We are both meat eaters, but don't miss meat when dining at Greens, the food is delicious! The staff have just the right relaxed and friendly approach and don't make you feel rushed in any way! This place proves you can have a tasty meal without meat!! No bland food here!!!
A relaxed dining spot with delicious vegetarian food. My vegan mum said it was the best food she had eaten and she had plenty to choose from. Service is great as is the beer.
An amazing experience at Greens yesterday. Helpful staff advising on the best choices... Delicious food for every course and even packed up a takeaway bag for the tasty morsels that we were too full to finish. My daughter's 21st was totally made by celebrating here. Thank you to the Simons and to your amazing staff for the experience... we will be back
Absolutely delicious vegan garlic bread best I've tasted in a long time! Also loved the nut roast dinner and apple crumble with vegan ice cream. I highly recommend it and i will definitely be visiting again!
Amazing food, amazing vibe of the place and great staff. Even did some fab non alcoholic cocktails which made our night a special one as bf can't drink atm and we were out to celebrate our anniversary. Can't wait to go again
Went for my 50th Birthday and it was the best restaurant meal I've ever had. Lovely atmosphere, attentive and pleasant staff and amazing food (especially the vegetarian black pudding). Looking to try and get back for a Xmas meal.
Went last sat lunch. Im a veggie of over 20 years, my fiance is not a veggie. Service was warm & friendly but not too in your face.
We had the mushrooms pancakes to start which were perfect. Light, tasty and perfect with the plum sauce.
Main course I had the pistachio, feta & spinach which alongside the overnight tomatoes was a taste sensation. My partner had the sausages with an incredible Dijon mash & greens.
And to top it off we had dessert(omg) & coffee.
Everything was absolutely spot on, we couldn't rate it highly enough. Meat eaters will not leave disappointed. We will be back soon.
The best vegan/ gluten free food I’ve tasted
This was the first time I have been to Greens but my husband has been four times with work and has raved about the food were both meat eaters but the food was wonderful the deep-fried mushrooms were to die for and the leek potato and saffron soup was delicious all washed down with elderflower cucumber and prosecco which was very refreshing can't wait to go again.
Fabulous food (even for me, a meat eater!) great, friendly and knowledgeable staff. Absolutely worth a visit!
Superb, absolutely loved it. Service excellent, food even better. Couldn't recommend enough!
Absolutely amazing vegetarian and vegan food. I brought my partner here for the first time tonight for his birthday - all the staff were lovely and they even made a vegan birthday cake for me when I asked you MUST go here !!!
Booked as a surprise for my other half's birthday and visited yesterday. There were 5 of us, none of us vegetarian or vegan and I think we were all abit apprehensive! Wow, blown away by the service and beautifully presented and tasting food.....we actually couldn't decide what to order. Fantastic meal and we will definitely go again.
Who wants to eat meat after trying the exquisite vegetarian and vegan cuisine from this restaurant? Well I am one of those ones .... I just can say THANKS for giving me so much happiness is each bite
Been meaning to book a meal here. Finally, we had the mushroom with pancake, pakora and soup with gluten free bread. For the mains, noodles, big bowl Indian dish and the cottahe pie. All very tasty considering theres no meat in it. The service was a little slow and they served my husband normal bread instead of gluten free one. Although they did corrected it and even given him fresh bowl of soup. I would definitely come back here again so i can have the mushroom and pancake which i really enjoyed having.
Absolutely lovely atmosphere with extremely helpful staff. I asked for vegan options and our server knew immediately and advisers what could be made vegan.
The food was out of this world.
Will definitely be visiting again
Great! Vegetarian gravy is always my test and it was excellent
Vegetarian food for carnivores. The menu is interesting - black pudding and chinese duck are really good. However, most dishes are vegetarian versions of classic meat dishes. We were expecting something a bit more adventurous for a vege restaurant.
Kept waiting for ages, despite having booked well in advance. Nowhere to wait really - felt uncomfortable standing over the shoulders of other diners.
Fantastic restaurant. You must try the black pudding.
Excellent vegetarian restaurant owned by celeb chef Simon Rimmer. Every dish I've tried on the menu has been a "taste sensation" . This is definitely not a restaurant solely for veggies...even the most carniverous of meat eaters couldn't fail to be impressed by the great combinations of flavours put together on this menu.
Greens is a great restaurant and is one of the best examples of what is possible in Manchester. There is a huge difference between a good cook and a great chef and those wishing to sample the creations of the latter, vegetarian or carnivore, should definitely give this establishment a try.
Truffled mushroom and pearl barley stew with potato and celeriac hash - a hearty, deep flavoured dish, enhanced by the heavenly truffle scent.
I was invited to one of the greens tasting evenings where they pair 3 courses with wines. Despite being skeptical of a vegetarian restaurant, the food was excellent and I wasn't left craving a steak.
The restaurant’s vibe was fabulous, setting the stage for a memorable experience. We opted for a tabbouleh salad, where the twist leaned more towards a lentil salad than the traditional version, but the flavor remained delightful. However, the sausage and mushroom Wellington had its quirks; an overwhelming portion of mashed potatoes overshadowed the modest two sausages, leaving me questioning if it was a sausage or potato dish. The star of the evening, though, was undoubtedly the mushroom Wellington – a definite winner. Despite some hiccups, I’d recommend this restaurant for its overall appeal and the standout mushroom creation.
Visited recently to celebrate our 30th anniversary. Food was superb as always, and the staff always make you feel very welcome.
Went for a meal with some friends. Being a non-veggie, I was a little apprehensive. However I was pleasantly surprised with the delightful starter crispy mushrooms which was likely crispy duck. The Wellington was also excellent. Unfortunately the desserts were disappointing all round. Definitely don’t order the choux pastry - very dry and hard. Very pleasant and engaging staff.
Absolutely gorgeous food, relaxed environment, friendly staff and well priced for the quality of produce and cooking. The oyster mushroom pancake wraps were a highlight but everything was delicious.
My partner and I had visited Greens for lunch. They had a great selection of vegan and vegetarian dishes to choose from. I went for oyster mushrooms with plum source pancakes for my starter and it was amazing! I picked the Sunday roast for my main, the nut roast was great, maybe a little to sticky/stodgy in places , the roast potatoes and Yorkie were both perfect, however the other vegetables were only boiled , I was a little disappointed they weren't roasted. However over all a fabulous place with some great choices.
I'll declare straight off that neither myself nor my dinner partner are vegan or vegetarian, but she does have a restrictive diet, so we chose here as we knew that she'd have a lot of choices.
I will be returning.
As a meat eater, this was probably the best "(not) beef" Wellington I've ever had in my life. To be honest, I do tend to pick the vegan options when dining out, a little out of curiosity, but mainly because I've discovered they tend to be far tastier than meat options.
The setting is cosy, the staff is friendly, and the menu offers a good choice. The price is reasonable too.
We had:
·Veggie black pudding, mustard mayo
·Artisan bread, olive oil, balsamic
·Soup made fresh daily
·Deep-fried oyster mushrooms, pancakes, spring onion, cucumber, plum sauce
·Truffled mushroom Wellington, dauphinoise potatoes, gravy, maple roasted carrots
·Sweet potato gnocchi, blackened aubergine, pine nut, chilli flake butter
The dishes never disappoint. This is the place to go to if you are looking for a special meal even if you are not vegetarian. Excellent service and great location. Highly recommended.
Very nice place with very friendly staff. The place looks good and have great vegetarian options and extensive drinks menu - wines, mocktails, beers, cocktails. The pastry with spinach, pistachio and fetas was incredibly amazing! I didn’t understand the tempora really because there was not enough batter and a lot of sauce, felt like chicken orange sauce, but still delicious. I definitely recommend this place and the staff deserves a tip ;)
Fabulous service, everyone very friendly.Had gnocchi, not bad, a tad dry but still enjoyable, washed down with a glass of red. Enjoyed the black pudding tho. My friend enjoyed the mushroom wellington. The pudding omg the pudding, miso banana and toffee sauce, bloody lovely. Also tried my friends avacado moose. Sooo nice. Will definitely be back.
Not bad and that from an omnivore. Decent nosh and good sizes. I always think that it's a mistake to create vegetarian food that tries to ape a standard meat dish and though the vegetarian black pudding starter looked like its meaty counterpart, in reality it was a very poor distant cousin in terms of taste. That aside I enjoyed the 3 course meal. Maybe stick to the obvious tasty vegetarian dishes for an authentic experience.
