Dinner and drinks in a lift shaft
Typical Northern quarter place. Bit industrial, bit smart, does pricey cocktails and food thats good but not filling. What more do you need if you want to take your friends out and show them that you are bit sophisticated and probably got a bit more money than sense. No brainer.
One of the best pizzas in Manchester! Love the nduja pizza at this bar.. really nice dough, great flavour, great cheese. Bar staff are also extremely friendly and accommodating. Thanks
Great cocktails to start in the bar upstairs and then a great meal before more delicious cocktails and fantastic tunes from the DJ! Really friendly staff, nice crowd and not too busy!
Was heading into northern quarter for a drink and stumbled upon T&D. Decor and atmosphere was good. Even better quality of drinks. Very spacious and assume the weekends are busy. Didn't get a chance to try their bar food/pizza but will do next time.
My sister came up to Manchester for the evening and as I want to take her somewhere new, we decide on Tariff & Dale. It's a handsome newly converted old warehouse on the corner of my favourite street in the Northern Quarter, Tariff street. (You'll find Kosmonaut , El Capo ,Takk and The Whiskey Jar on the same block). We head downstairs and claim a booth at the end of the row near to the kitchen and impressive wood fired pizza oven. Naturally it's all exposed brick and industrial styling but it is cosy enough.
There were positives though – I liked the pizza and the beef shin itself and bone marrow mash were very good. When asked if I enjoyed my meal, I gave what I hoped was “constructive” criticism.
We ordered margarita pizza and spiced crispy chicken burger with fries. The pizza was delicious, the sauce was very tasty and overall the pizza was very fresh and the dough was perfectly made. Burger was one of the best I've eaten in a long time. Fries also came in nicely seasoned. Overall great food, quick and friendly service, nice mocktails made at request based on preferences. All that at a very reasonable price, would definitely recommend. đź‘Ť

Mixed Experience: Great Food, Unpleasant Wait Staff
I recently visited tariff and dale for the first time to meet friends for Sunday dinner. Upon entering, we were greeted warmly by friendly and the informative staff. The bar person was very helpful in assisting us with drink selections, and the person seating us was exemplary in their friendliness and helpfulness, making us feel welcome right from the start.
However, the experience took a sour turn when a red-headed staff member with a sour mood began serving us. She slammed drinks on the table, just a general unpleasant, made she was having a bad day but she made sure she let us know about it, with her abrupt attitude, haste for us to leave it seemed and hence making us feel unwelcome. This behavior was noticed by everyone at our table, and it was disappointing so much so we paid and prefer to go to another bar to carry on drinking, I could only think she might of been in a rush to finish and go home, as there wasn’t anyone else, we were the only table dining at that time. Unfortunately, this unpleasant interaction with the staff member is the sole reason I cannot give this establishment a 5-star rating.
Despite the setback with the staff member, the food at tariff and dale was outstanding. The Sunday Roast was exceptional, and everyone in our group thoroughly enjoyed their meals. The quality of the food was top-notch, and the portions were just right, offering great value for the money spent.
In conclusion, while the food at tariff and dale was undeniably delicious and satisfying, the unpleasant experience with one particular staff member marred an otherwise enjoyable dining experience. I hope that the management addresses such behavior to ensure that all guests feel welcomed and valued during their visit at all stages of there visit waiting staff shouldn’t be clearing tables until every one on the tables finish eating, or they’ve been asked to.
I really liked this place. It was clean and had a stylish industrial look to it. The staff were very patient with us wanting to sit inside and the getting too hot and moving indoors! The menu isn't huge but it has a nice variety. The same with the drinks to be honest.
I had a pizza and it was delicious and bigger than I expected. Definitely would be happy to return.
Very nice Sunday Lunch, well presented and lovely to eat. However, I would advise checking your bill as I found out later that I'd been overcharged.
Beautiful cocktails, nice food, excellent staff.
However we arrived about 45 minutes before the DJ. Could you take the DJs volume control away please? She continually increased the volume as the crowd tried to hold a conversation over her. Perhaps explain the concept of ambiance and that her music is a compliment to the atmosphere, not the main event?
We found this place somewhat by accident, but what a find it was. First thing before lunch it was empty but had a nice relaxing atmosphere and it soon filled up for the lunchtime service. The range of drinks was a little limited with not everything in stock, but the staff were friendly and great at bringing refills. We ordered the sharing platter which was a brilliant size and had a lovely range of dishes included. It was so tasty we ended up placing a second order when another friend joined!
For a relaxing afternoon in a welcoming a friendly place I’d highly recommend, and I’d love to return.
Incredible bar/restaurant! Cocktail menu is phenomenal and the food is to die for. Very sad I live so far away, but I will be back to visit!
Hi everyone we found Tariff & Dale it’s a great bar. It has great food ( easy and uncomplicated). Drinks are the best prepared in the northern quarter. Decor is artistic and modernist and we felt the vibe of people, drinks and ambiance. However the DJ is a disaster he is not playing to the crowd people were leaving because he lost them. 1990s and 2000a songs that he obviously felt were fitting to the far more superior surroundings and clientele, which they were not. Huge opportunity to get music that is far more a NOW pop, trance, house and rock. Just because one woman dances doesn’t mean it’s the right fit for the beautiful bar and professional bar and restaurant team. Our personal opinion that a DJ in a bar should be the cherry on the top of already delicious desert. Not the “sticky carpet” ….
Love the bar change the DJ in our opinion you could have a really great vibe without the gangster rap.
Cool bar, great atmosphere and the free pizza is genius - has made us return on a regular basis after work.
Went last week and was good. Fair prices for beers and didn’t eat any food but it looked decent. Will eat next time I am here
