Monday Lunch

The BEST grilled cheese we’ve ever had. And it was half price too. Espresso Martini was ace as well. Looking forward to our next visit (and another grilled cheese). Really lovely staff and atmosphere.

Great food, very friendly service and really good music! The sweet potato fries were 5 stars. The space and the decoration are really cozy too.

Good place to eat late, drink and dance some English typical musics! The place is cool and trendy. The only problem is the smoke in the first floor, where everybody is dancing and drinking.

Great breakfast. During a morning meeting in town a quick show of hands revealed an overwhelming urge (some said "need") for a big breakfast. Trof is the place. Go and eat it. That is all ;)

Food high points: the French Toast itself was well prepared – if there was a berry option I’d definitely try to get into Manchester early more often. Food low points: banana as a topping on the toast was always going to be a disadvantage but I would have liked it better with a little extra cinnamon and a more viscous syrup.

Wednesday nights are now slider time upstairs in Trof's new bourbon bar and their main menu burger seems to have undergone a good-taste makeover too...

Halloumi Shroomi Burger

Halloumi Shroomi burger is made out of halloumi cheese which is originally salty savoury & tangy and hard enough to be chargrilled. Its so yummy and feels like a creamy cheese burst in every bite. Chargrilled halloumi, portobella mushrooms, garlic & parsley butter with some aged cheddar, flame roasted red pepper, yogurt aioli, green herbs, lettuce & pickles- All of this in a fresh brioche bun with yummy salty fries. Just like the ingredients, its a food flavor bomb for every vegetarian.

Ambience & Service: Hipster pub feel.

Price: £9

University hangovers became synonymous with breakfasts at Trof. They do a kick-ass Bloody Mary and absolutely legendary full English breakfasts. Served until 4pm, the portions are the perfect size and never too greasy so you can be sure you won't be tipped over the edge!

They also do a mean burger. In fact, I think Trof was the first place I tried one that came in a brioche bun, and they really set the bar for me. The roasts also stand out and epitomise everything that's great about proper homemade food.

The staff are all young and achingly cool making them the perfect fit for the ultra hip Northern Quarter. The decor is more on the studenty side of rustic but nonetheless it's warm and welcoming to a variety of clientèle. It's always a refuge away from the almost incessant rain in Manchester and an absolute must visit.

The first time I went to Manchester I was two weeks in into my Erasmus semester and had just found the most amazing friends to travel with. We went to Trof for dinner in a wintery February night, cold and tired but ready to have fun. And we did! Trof has the coolest vibe, the music was amazing and we settled in a first floor sofa while having some snacks for dinner which at the time seemed heavenly (though we were pretty hungry and cold). Nevertheless the staff was super friendly which is always a big plus when you are in a foreign city!
This place will always bring me good memories and when I do go back to Manchester I'll definitely go back even if just for a drink :)

I have been to Trof on several occasions - pub quiz, open mic night, casual drinking and bank holiday street party! All these are very different events but one thing that is common is I had a blast each time. I have a soft spot for their smoking room too, I actually made a really good friend from that smoking room. I can see many relationships being formed or originated from that area, smokes and conversation is a very strong bond!

The beers are cheap and they also have a very good range of cocktails, not many people know their espresso martini is to die for! If you happen to try it, let me know! I hear they do a pretty tasty lunch too, Garrett P was telling me about it the other day - I still have to try it out though. The staff are very friendly and the pub is literally spread across 3 floors so there is ample space at any given point of time. The top floor is more private, middle floor is for performances and the ground floor is like a regular pub, so you have loads of options to choose from (woohoo). They also have some pretty good DJ's here on weekends, this attracts a lot of people here too. The crowd is always a good mix of students and professionals but this place still has not been corrupted or polluted by the really rowdy lot yet (thankfully).

Verdict : Big Up to Trof - one of the better bars to visit in Manchester!

Dining Experience @ Trof. . A dandy den of indulgence, a great place to grab breakfast, lunch, or dinner. . Ambience is rustic and industrial, harkening back to the good ole days. The warmly lit place is adorned with eclectic light fixtures and sturdy cushioned wooden furnishings. The entrance is framed with red bricks and hanging green plants. . Service is friendly, with staff taking the effort to ensure guests are enjoying themselves. They engage in conversation, and clean up efficiently when diners leave. . Food is classic British English pub grub, hearty and filling plates best paired with their exquisite beer selection. Portions are large for individuals. Prices are affordable, budget about GBP £14 per person. . Fresh off the flight, and a little jet-lagged, the Tea Builder's Brew (GBP £2.25) with a spot of milk really hit the spot. Robust with earthy savoury flavour, this warm beverage was most welcome. . Heard they offered one of the best Full English Breakfast (GBP £11.50) in town, and it certainly didn't disappoint. . A heaping plate which included crisp toasted white bread with smoky bready sweet flavour; soft baked beans in tomato sauce with vegetal earthy sweet flavour; 2 fried eggs with eggy savoury sweet flavour. . Also crisp potato hashbrown with starchy salty sweet savoury flavour; snappy lincolnshire pork sausage with smoky meaty savoury salty flavour; chewy grilled portobello mushroom with vegetal earthy salty flavour; and crispy pork back bacon with smoky meaty salty savoury flavour. . Finished with black pudding (a sausage of beef blood, pork fat, and oatmeal), tender with a mineral savoury salty earthy flavour. A filling meal.

I have always loved this place and started to coming for many years ago. We came for a sunday roast and were not disappointed! I took the roast with pork. Very very tasty. Yorkshire pudding was on point. Potatoes could have been a little crispier but was delicious. Great service and a lovely cosy atmosphere. Would recommend anyone to visit this place not only for food but also for a night out in a bar. What a place!

4 of us came for a roast dinner on Sunday. The place has a homely casual atmosphere and was very busy, a little on the loud side as tables close together. Service was attentive and friendly and the food was very good quality, (all meat from littlewoods butchers) great tasting and a generous portion. Could have been a little hotter but waitress bought over fresh hot gravy when asked. All in all good experience and one of the better roast dinners in MCR

Lovely little place with amazing roast dinner. I'm gluten free so couldn't have the yorkies but everything else was amazing! Highly recommend the roast pork: best I've had in years. Also dog friendly and a cool little place

Another place for french toast! This week’s topping is chocolate pear with cream and hazelnut crumbles. The flavour was decent and the pear and crumbles taste amazing! But i do have to say the inside of the toast was way too dry for my taste, i would like it more if it is softer. The staffs were very very nice, definitely add a lot of points because it makes us feel welcomed!!

I recently visited Trof in Northern Quarter for a Christmas catchup meal, and it was a fantastic experience. The atmosphere was cosy and bustling with energy, the service was fast and efficient, and the food was truly amazing! The prices were very reasonable considering the excellent quality of the dishes. Highly recommend for a delightful dining experience!

Mrs had the beef looked epic. I had the lamb. I may have been the smallest lamb in the world. It was enough to feed maybe a 3 month old. However it was great food. I would definitely return. Great little place

We went here four times during our stay in Manchester. We ate burgers, French toast, British breakfast, salad and everything was really good. The staff is very friendly, so it's a lovely and quiet place to have lunch. If we return to Manchester, we'll come back here for sure.

Amazing big breakfast and the atmosphere and music in the background is very chilled. We had a night out in Manchester and pretty much all of us were hanging the Sunday morning!! So the food I had, orange juice and mocha was well received. The staff are very friendly and the food is tastey. Highly recommend going there. Many thanks to the staff for clearing our hangovers!!

Nothing really to fault here. Staff dealing really well with a buuuusy Tue as expected when a venue serves such a good quality food at 50% + happy hour until 9pm. Exceptional selection of food and drink, good beats and friendly service 🤙

Decent fish and chips, except for too much salt, visible on the fish. I'd suggest asking them not to add the extra salt, if that might bother you. Otherwise, the dish was simple but nicely done to the detail. The tables are a bit small and tight, but helps to the cosy and friendly atmosphere. Service was also really nice, and chilled, not trying to get you more drinks or food all the time, as it happens at some places. Also, there is a good selection of drinks and happy hour weekdays till 9pm.

Excellent food in an unassuming location with super friendly staff for a Sunday brunch / lunch. + Excellent tasting food. + Good atmosphere, kinda classic without being noisy and overrun + Super friendly team of people + Cost Sunday brunch / lunch place to come. - We did have to wait more than an hour for our food. But the team were quick to rectify and offered us free drinks due to the abnormal wait time. Overall would definitely come back here as the food was fantastic.
